Experience Guam during Liberation Week, one of the island’s most meaningful annual celebrations. TUMON, Guam — Visitors planning a trip to Guam in July have the opportunity to experience one of the island’s most meaningful and vibrant annual celebrations. Liberation Week commemorates the liberation of Guam on July 21, 1944, marking the end of the island’s occupation during World War II and honoring the resilience, courage, and sacrifices of the CHamoru people and all those who helped restore freedom to Guam.

More than a historical commemoration, Liberation Week is a time when the entire island comes together through music, culture, food, family gatherings, and community events that offer visitors an authentic glimpse into Guam’s rich heritage and welcoming spirit.

This year’s celebration includes two special editions of the Guam Visitors Bureau’s popular Tumon Night Market, transforming the heart of Guam’s tourism district into a lively showcase of local culture and international performances.

On Sunday, July 19the Tumon Night Market at Tumon Sands Plaza will feature live entertainment from local favorites including The Corporation, Prominence, and Guma’ Taotao Kinahulo’ Atdao Na Tåno’, alongside special international performances by Taiwan’s renowned Falun Dafa Waist Drum Teamwhose synchronized drumming and traditional folk choreography bring an energetic celebration of Chinese culture.

The evening will also feature a special performance by the US Marine Corps Forces Pacific (MARFORPAC) Vol from Okinawa, Japan. Recognized as one of the Indo-Pacific’s premier military bands, the ensemble’s appearance reflects the enduring friendship between Guam and the United States Armed Forces while honoring the courage and sacrifice remembered on Liberation Day.

The celebration continues on Tuesday, July 21with a special Liberation Day edition of the Tumon Night Market featuring performances by Konference, Trey and Friends, Pacific Cool, Guma’ Taotao Kinahulo’ Atdao Na Tåno’, the Guåhan Drum Circle, Yosakoi Team Amata, the Taiwan Falun Dafa Waist Drum Team, the MARFORPAC Band, and additional local entertainers. Guests can also enjoy cultural demonstrations, family-friendly activities, local artisans, and food vendors throughout the evening.

Adding to the festivities, two spectacular fireworks displays will illuminate Guam’s skies on Liberation Day. Fireworks are scheduled for 7:21 pm in Hagåtña and 9:00 pm at Ypao Beach in Tumonproviding visitors with unforgettable opportunities to celebrate alongside the local community.

To make attending the festivities even easier, complimentary satellite parking and shuttle service will be available from Governor Joseph Flores (Ypao) Beach Park to Tumon Sands Plaza on both July 19 and July 21 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm
