There has been a lot of exciting café news in Munich in the last few months. In the past few weeks, we have tried out a lot in preparation for the update of our guide, tested new locations and revisited tried-and-tested favorites.
Drum roll, here comes the first 2026 update of our popular “Breakfast in Munich” special! With classics and long-time favorites, but also some brand new tips.
Our tips for the best breakfast in Munich
Café Good, Leopoldstrasse 157
We are in love with the concept of the café, which opened in summer 2024 and processes fruit and vegetables saved from the wholesale market into delicious dishes with great attention to detail. In the vegetarian-vegan café you can enjoy the best breakfast burger we have ever had in Munich in a cozy, feel-good atmosphere! Pancakes, kimchi toast, smoothies and much more are also on the menu. On a board on the wall you can find out how much fruit and vegetables were saved by the café team each week.

The Maria, Klenzestrasse 97
A breakfast trip to the Orient awaits you in the middle of the beautiful Glockenbachviertel. Personally, I can never decide on a dish with such a great selection and usually choose one sweet and one salty. By the way: You can have breakfast at “Das Maria” from Monday to Sunday until 6 p.m.!

The detailed menu, the service, the location and the price-performance ratio: everything is really right in the charming café in the Westend! My favorite? The grilled “Loaded Croissant” with vanilla quark, blueberry compote, fresh fruit and dark chocolate. Sounds great? That’s it too!

Carlotta, Holzstrasse 18
Exciting café news in the Glockenbachviertel! The Carlotta opened just a few weeks ago – and immediately became a new favorite. In the pretty, small café you can get, among other things, sandwiches made with great attention to detail. And I’m really looking forward to sitting on the terrace in the sun with a cappuccino next summer…

Mary’s Coffee Club, Türkenstraße 86A
Still one of the hotspots for a really good breakfast in Munich! The small but fine menu includes some breakfast highlights that are offered all day long. The dishes – such as the overnight oats, the fluffy pancakes or the “Avo Smash” (can be customized with any poached egg, halloumi etc.) – not only taste delicious, they are also prepared with great attention to detail.

SUPERNOVA Bar & Trattoria, Türkenstraße 83
The trattoria in the heart of Maxvorstadt is one of the most beautiful restaurants in Munich. What many people don’t know: You can also have an excellent brunch in the extraordinary ambience of the Italian restaurant. For example, with “Adriano Avocado” on Julius Brantner organic farmhouse bread bruschetta (undisputedly the best bread in the city!), vegan panna chiacotta or ricotta lemon pancakes.

LYFE, Frauenstrasse 34
Especially if you follow a vegan or vegetarian diet, you will be very happy in the LYFE, which is not only visually appealing and is located between the Isartor and Viktualienmarkt. The menu includes many delicious, healthy dishes such as both sweet and savory bowls. The presentation is also reminiscent of the loving attention to detail of the Bali café scene.

Wagners – Juicery & Health Food, Fraunhoferstrasse 43
In my opinion, the best banana bread in Munich – and the XXL breakfast bowls are also extremely tasty. My favorite besides the classic açai is the “Fresh Fruit Bowl” with yogurt, granola and a large portion of fresh fruit. Also worth mentioning is the interior with a large marble counter, copper lights and cozy seating areas. A nice weather tip: get breakfast to go and look for a nice spot on the Isar directly opposite.

Palmtreeclub, Augustenstrasse 43
At the Palmtreeclub you can be sure: every single dish is prepared gluten-free. No matter whether pancakes, avocado bread or Kaiserschmarrn. An absolute paradise for all those who have to avoid gluten for health reasons. And for everyone else: simply delicious! The ingredients for all dishes are sourced exclusively from local farms and companies.

UKIYORumfordstrasse 6
Since last year, UKIYO at Gärtnerplatz has been offering an extremely attractive brunch menu on the weekends. On Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. you can enjoy bowls, French toast, eggs with truffles and croissants with matcha cream. A special highlight: the “Vegan Fiesta” with fried mushrooms, homemade avocado truffle cream, rocket, sourdough bread and muesli with soy yogurt and fresh fruit.

Shop café Marais, Parkstrasse 2
The Marais shop café in the Westend exudes Parisian charm and at the same time takes you back to the 1920s. There’s good coffee and classic breakfast options like croissants and yogurt with granola, which you can enjoy at one of the popular spots in the window.

Notting Hill Café, Theresienhöhe 12
In the Notting Hill Café, natural ingredients and super food meet a beautiful interior and dishes that are definitely worth eating. Not to forget: the good coffee! PS: The pancakes are among the best you can get in Munich!

Cotidiano (here you can find all locations in Munich)
THE classic in Munich. After the Cotidiano on Gärtnerplatz was considered THE breakfast café in Munich for years, the popular “Bakery Restaurant” has expanded in recent years – there are now a total of six branches in Munich and a few more in other cities.
The Cotidiano menu is huge (when I write huge, I mean HUGE!) and leaves nothing to be desired for breakfast. Throughout the day there are numerous egg dishes and baked goods, delicious cakes, various bowls and cereals, Belgian waffles with berries, chia pudding, avocado toast and so on and so forth.

Luffy Pancake Café, Pestalozzistrasse 24
Here you don’t get “just any pancakes”, but rather something very special. The pancakes are prepared using a Japanese soufflé technique and are so fluffy that they seem to melt in your mouth. By the way, the menu only includes pancakes – but in many different variations, for example with fresh fruit, matcha or “tiramisu” with mascarpone and cocoa powder.

Hungry Heart, Fraunhoferstraße 42
One of the most popular brunch cafés in the Isarvorstadt, which not only invites you to a relaxed weekend morning in a beautiful ambience with bowls, porridge, pancakes, filled bagels and the like, but also delivers breakfast to your home. The perfect choice if you want to enjoy the café experience on your balcony at home.

Poppi Farmer, St.-Bonifatius-Straße 1
You feel a bit like you’ve landed in Australia when you enter the light-flooded café in Giesing. Australian cuisine also served as inspiration, and this is reflected in all areas of Poppi Farmer. Only organic food is used for the dishes, regionality and seasonality are very important, and the appearance is just as important as the taste.

Madam Anna Ekke, Kolosseumstrasse 6
Creative, colorful, delicious and with one of the most beautiful terraces in the Glockenbachviertel: This café is simply fun (and not just in the morning, by the way)!
Since last summer there has also been a second Madam Anna Ekke location in Neuhausen. The address: Schlörstraße 11.

GötterSpeise, Jahnstraße 30
The GötterSpeise is undoubtedly in the prettiest corner of the Glockenbachviertel, and in addition to probably the best chocolate, there is also really good coffee and small treats for breakfast. For example croissants, vegan Bircher muesli and freshly squeezed juices. Do you love cake for breakfast? Then the Götterspeise is ALWAYS the perfect choice! Particularly nice: grab one of the outdoor seats and watch the hustle and bustle of the district while sipping a cappuccino.

Dompierre (you can find an overview of all locations here)
The French bakery not only serves the best croissants in the city, but also all sorts of other delicacies from our neighboring country. And all of this combined with good coffee in a wonderful ambience!

Café Faber, Zeppelinstrasse 5
It’s not just the simple, very stylish interior that impresses, but above all what ends up on the plates. The menu is small but very fine and changes depending on the seasonal offerings. There are delicious breads with that certain something, vegan porridge and home-baked cakes.

Emmi’s Kitchen, Buttermelcherstrasse 11-15
In the vegan café you can get the most delicious pancakes, scrambled tofu, overnight oats, breakfast burgers and much more all day long. And by the way, Emmi’s Kitchen offers a particularly beautiful outdoor area in an inner courtyard in the Gärtnerplatzviertel. You can find another branch of the café in Schwabing (Wilhelmstrasse 43).

A Small Café & Bar, Müllerstraße 17
With a colorful, feel-good interior, chai, the best mango lassi and a creative menu with lots of exotic flavors, A Small Café brings an extra dose of positive vibes and world travel flair to the Isarvorstadt.

Ohana day café, Hohenzollernstraße 40
The small, charming Ohana day café has been enriching the popular Hohenzollernstrasse since last year. There you not only get really good coffee, but also the tastiest bowls and croissants – all day long until 6 p.m.!

One Cinnamon roll with pistachio cream in the Schnecki Back & Bar… and the acai bowl in the Ohana day café.
Schnecki Back & Bar, St.-Bonifatius-Straße 3
If you like it really sweet in the morning and would like to eat perhaps the best cinnamon roll of your life to start the day, then you should definitely pay a visit to the brand new Schnecki Back & Bar in Giesing. The version with pistachio cream in particular is simply heavenly!
Lehel small market hall, St.-Anna-Straße 17
A really magical concept! In the shop café, designed with attention to detail, a small but fine selection of delicatessen and gift items meets a deli-style café. For breakfast there is, among other things, Bircher muesli and various egg dishes – served on the pretty dishes from arrabiata arrabiata. My personal favorite, perfect for brunch when breakfast and lunch merge, is the vegetable quiche.

Café Luitpold, Brienner Straße 11
The Café Luitpold is a Munich institution like no other and should definitely not be missing from this list. The coffee house was opened in the heart of the city in 1888 and has since then not only offered coffee, cakes and chocolates, but also many delicious breakfast classics in a very nice atmosphere.

Lilli P., Lilli-Palmer-Straße 2
Not only is there a delicious breakfast here, the beautiful interior also impresses with pastel-colored details, velvet, retro elements and extremely high ceilings. On Saturday and Sunday you can feast on the “All You Can Eat” breakfast buffet. Cost: 32 euros.

Botanista Café Club, Pestalozzistrasse 20
Creative dishes with a big pinch of Bali feeling, fresh, healthy ingredients and no refined sugar sound pretty good, don’t they? They also look beautiful – and the large, creative breakfast menu in the Botanista Café Club is really impressive!
