One Piece episode #1165 was a surprisingly slow episode for the series, but even then, it left plenty to be excited about for episode #1166 and beyond. The Elbaph arc probably isn’t moving at the pace people expected or hoped it would, but that doesn’t make it any less exciting, and with what’s planned for the next few episodes, that should be more apparent than ever.
Following Robin and Saul’s reunion, things remained very peaceful for the Straw Hats as they continued exploring Elbaph, and they even finally got the big feast they were promised, as well. As they did, though, mysterious forces moved with a hidden agenda underneath everyone’s noses, with Shanks, of all people, seemingly involved with it, and it all spelled a bad omen for Elbaph, despite how much of a good time everyone was having.
What Time One Piece Episode 1166 Releases

What Happened In One Piece Episode 1165?
One-Piece-Robin-Franky-Brook-New-Outfits
In One Piece episode #1165, “A Welcome with Friends’ Cups and Intruders Seeking Loki”, Luffy and Usopp remained disappointed by how passive the giant children were, although Usopp could at least admit it wasn’t a bad thing. At that moment, though, another child, Collun, came at Luffy with a sneak attack to test his strength as an Emperor, and Luffy was happy to see that not all the kids were spineless, although Sanji was more focused on the shock that Collun was Ripley’s son and had a human father.
One Piece’s Next Big Break Is Almost Here, And It’s Hinting At A Truly Massive Cliffhanger
As One Piece prepares for a long break, the series is nearing an epic moment that would make for an excellent season finale for Elbaph’s first cour.
Following that, all the Straw Hats except Chopper, Robin, and Franky returned to the village for a big feast, although not before Gerd gave Robin, Franky, Brook, and Jimbei new Elbaph-themed outfits. At the feast, the giants praised the Straw Hats for saving Stansen from slavery at Sabaody Archipelago and for defeating Kaido and Big Mom, and the feast was even attended by Jarul, an ancient giant warrior who, much to Luffy’s disbelief, was completely unfazed by having a sword lodged in his skull.
As all of that was happening, the Shanks lookalike and his partner moved through Aurust Castle and demanded that a pair of guards tell them where Loki was. The guards refused to tell them because of Loki’s criminal status, but one of the villains launched a mysterious attack that made one of the guards keel over in pain, and the episode ended with her reiterating that she was ordering, not asking, for them to tell her where to find Loki.
One Piece’s Slowest Episode Is Still Incredibly Exciting
One-Piece-Episode-1165-Gunko
Overall, episode #1165 was probably the slowest episode of One Piece’s Elbaph arc to date. While there were plenty of fun moments with Luffy interacting with Collun and the rest of the Straw Hats getting their new outfits, not much actually happened beyond teasing the power and motives of the new villains. There are only a few episodes left before the anime goes on break again, so it’s disappointing to think that it might end without the arc really moving forward.

Are you King of the Pirates — or still swabbing the deck?
That being said, with just how fun the character moments were and how consistently gorgeous episode #1165 looked, it was still very fun to watch from start to finish, and even among One Piece’s weaker episodes, it still stands out as one of the best. This might be a bit of a slow spell for the anime, but One Piece is still firing on all cylinders, and hopefully, episode #1166 will more than pick up the pace.
Be sure to watch One Piece episode #1166 when it releases on Sunday, June 14 on Crunchyroll.
