Around four months after the release of the current iPhone series, statements from industry experts about the future model range are increasing. Jeff Pu has often been right with his predictions, and now he comments on the iPhone 18 Pro (Max) and iPhone Fold in a message to investors, which is available to 9to5Mac. In doing so, he confirms some of the rumors about the devices: There will probably be a return of Touch ID on the foldable iPhone. In addition, the iPhone has a successful year ahead overall. Three new iPhones in September, no Face ID for iPhone Fold
According to Pu, buyers of the foldable iPhone will enjoy a 7.8-inch internal display. However, the screen diagonal of the Pro models remains unchanged compared to its predecessors: Pu only seems to round up the 6.86 inches of current panels to “6.9 inches”. His information corresponds to that of the leaker Digital Chat Station (see here). However, the release date seems a bit strange: September 26th. is a Saturday this year, but Apple usually launches new iPhones on Fridays. Apple is installing the A20 Pro with 12 gigabytes of RAM and a new 5G modem with the C2 chip. Face ID with a smaller Dynamic Island is used on the Pro devices. Digital Chat Station sees it differently: He assumes that this will be completely eliminated. On the foldable iPhone, there simply doesn’t seem to be enough space for Face ID: Pu expects the fingerprint sensor to make a comeback here.

Pu: Smartphone market is shrinking, but Apple is growing
Pu also expects the entire smartphone market to shrink by 4 percent this year. This development primarily affects Android devices in the lower and middle price segments. Apple, on the other hand, is immune from this: the industry expert expects an increase of 2 percent in the quantity sold compared to the previous year. Cupertino is expanding its market share from 20 to 21 percent. But this is not just due to the upcoming Pro models and the iPhone Fold: According to Pu, demand for the offshoots of the iPhone 17 remains high.
