Always full throttle: Formula 1 champion Nico Rosberg announces the closing of “Fund III” at Rosberg Ventures. “Fund III” has a volume of 100 million dollars (around 86 million euros) and, according to Rosberg, was oversubscribed due to high demand.

According to Rosberg Ventures, it now manages assets of more than $200 million. According to Bloomberg, Rosberg issues checks worth between two and five million dollars to startups.

After Rosberg became Formula 1 world champion in 2016, he started his career in the startup scene as a business angel. In 2024 he launched the VC firm Rosberg Ventures.

Learnings from his sports career

In his Linkedin post about the closing, Rosberg also shares learnings from his Formula 1 career that shape him as an investor. Because in sport you have to take risks, writes Rosberg – and that also applies in the VC world.

“Sometimes this even means that you take very small chances of 10 percent, but in return you have enormous advantages,” said Rosberg in his post. If the risk of failure is high, good preparation and going through all possible failure scenarios can help. Investor Frank Thelen is also impressed and comments: “Crazy: Fund III 🤩”.
