Riesling Mojito

Shortly before I leave for vacation, I commit a serious cocktail crime. And I’m guaranteed to earn the hatred of die-hard Riesling fans. I process classic Riesling into Mojito.

Riesling Mojito

Spoiler: Of course that doesn’t work. Mojito is and remains Mojito. And without the white rum, of course it’s not a mojito.
But I just wanted to try it with Riesling. Simply because I like to drink it.
And because I think that a Riesling can also be combined wonderfully with lime, mint and brown cane sugar.

The reason I named the drink that is because the classic mojito is so well known that many people know what goes into it. And I simply replace the alcoholic ingredient with Riesling. That’s it!

And I’ll put it this way: The next heat wave is just starting – so a cool refreshment is just what you need?!

In any case, I can only highly recommend it to you!

So if you want to recreate this mixed wine drink, you can find the recipe here.

Riesling Mojito

Riesling Mojito

Ingredients for two glasses:
150 ml ice cold Riesling wine
50 ml mineral water
1.5 untreated limes
1 tbsp brown cane sugar
2 sprigs of fresh mint
Ice cubes/crushed ice

(Ideally you will need a wooden pestle to prepare the drink)

Preparation:

Cut the limes into eighths, including the peel, and place them in very sturdy glasses. Add the cane sugar and mint and use the pestle to gently press the limes so that some juice can escape. However, the limes should not be crushed. Fill the glasses approximately two-thirds full with small ice cubes (ideally crushed ice).

Pour wine and mineral water over it, stir gently and enjoy!

Cheers!
