In short: New iPhone commercial highlights surface +++ Firmware update for AirPods Pro 3 | News

The front glass of a smartphone is exposed to a lot of wear and tear in everyday life, of which touch operation is the least severe: in trouser or shoulder pockets it rubs against temporary passengers, and on tables, various surface textures or crumbs threaten to leave lasting marks. Not a year goes by without Apple highlighting innovations in the breakage and scratch resistance of iPhone screens. In 2025, for the iPhone 17, Apple advertised “Ceramic Shield 2”, which should be three times more scratch-resistant than an iPhone 16. A humorous video clip takes up this property – in a tough challenge for the iPhone screen glass.

There is little said in the half-minute video, in which two negotiating parties take positions at opposite ends of an extremely long negotiating table. “My client was more than fair,” says the negotiator on the left before pushing a compromise offer recorded on an iPhone 17 Pro across the table. The Cosmic Orange iPhone slides across the wooden table for a full 16 seconds until it arrives, is revealed and rejected with the words “no chance”. And again the expensive smartphone glides audibly over the wood, on the bare display glass. “Relax, it’s iPhone 17” is the slogan that ends the spot.

Firmware update for AirPods Pro 3
Apple has released a revised version of the firmware for the more expensive in-ear headphones. Version 8B34 is automatically played out via the devices paired with it if all conditions are met:

  • iPhone, iPad or Mac has the latest operating system version installed.
  • Bluetooth is turned on.
  • WiFi is active and connected to the Internet.
  • AirPods Pro 3 are paired.
  • Charging case is connected to a power source.

If you now close the charging case with the earphones placed in it, the firmware update should install within half an hour. You can check whether the new version has arrived in the settings app of the respective device. Apple does not explain in detail what has changed in the new version and only speaks of bug fixes and other improvements. Many users hope that the annoying noises caused by noise cancellation will finally be a thing of the past.
