Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has appointed Barbara Göttling as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Munich. Bringing more than 20 years of luxury hospitality leadership experience, Göttling will oversee the iconic Bavarian property’s continued growth, guest experience strategy, and market positioning as one of Germany’s premier luxury hotels.

The luxury hospitality landscape in Germany is welcoming a new leadership chapter as Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced the appointment of Barbara Göttling as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Munich. The Vienna-born hotelier officially assumed her role on May 1, 2026, succeeding Marc Epper.

With more than two decades of international luxury hospitality experience, Göttling joins Munich after serving as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Prague, where she helped strengthen the property’s international positioning while cultivating a strong local identity. Her professional background also includes senior leadership roles with global hospitality brands, including Hyatt Hotels Corporation and Accor.

In Munich, Göttling is expected to oversee the continued strategic development of the iconic five-star property, focusing on highly personalized guest experiences and deepening the hotel’s connection with the Bavarian capital. Mandarin Oriental emphasizes that her leadership style combines operational excellence with a people-centered approach to luxury hospitality.

Commenting on her appointment, Göttling highlighted the significance of the Munich hotel within the Mandarin Oriental portfolio, noting its role as one of the group’s pioneering European properties and a longstanding symbol of luxury hospitality in Germany.

The appointment comes as Mandarin Oriental continues expanding and strengthening its European portfolio under Group Chief Executive Laurent Kleitman, with recent strategic developments in Paris, Amsterdam, London, and other key luxury markets across the continent.
