Whenever I don’t really feel motivated to cook, I walk through the supermarket section with them Fix bagslook at what smiles at me and usually decide to recreate one thing at home. So the bag with the ham mince rolls fell into my hands. Nothing would be easier than recreating that, I thought, and I was right. It’s so easy to make these little treats fresh and to make yourselfI’m really surprised that they offer a bag for it (especially since the seasoning mixture is only for the tomato sauce).
I was supported by our little mouse when cooking the baked ham meat rolls. I took over the minced rolls in the cooked ham, but the mixing of them Tomato cream sauce she did. And the best part was: While she was stirring the sauce, she smelled it and said: Wow, that smells so delicious! Of course, things couldn’t go any better in advance.
Of course she was right in her premonition: The gratinated minced ham rolls tasted wonderful and of course the tomato cream sauce was to die for. But the best thing, of course, is that you… Minced ham rolls can prepare really well. They can simply be put in the fridge and then just need to be moved into the oven for baking and cooking. It couldn’t be easier then. We simply made pasta with the gratinated ham and minced rolls, and of course boiled potatoes would also work.
The most important ingredients for the ham minced rolls
The Ham minced rolls don’t need many ingredients. The ingredients for the tomato cream sauce in particular are actually a standard that we always have at home. I only bought the cooked ham and the minced meat.
- Cooked ham: Here you should use thick slices that remain stable when rolled up. The good cooked ham can then be used for butchering.
- minced meat: I used mixed minced meat here. This is perfect for the taste and stays really juicy.
- Pureed tomatoes and cream: The tomatoes make the sauce for the ham minced rolls fruity, while the cream provides the necessary creaminess.
- Gouda: We always resort to this cheese for gratinating. We often just rub it ourselves (snacking is expressly permitted) because then it goes even better.

🥕 Ingredients for the recipe
For the rolls:
- 12 slices Cooked ham not thinly sliced
- 500 G mixed minced meat
- 1 small onion very finely diced
- 1 egg
- 1 EL breadcrumbs
- 1 TL Mustard
- 1 TL Salt
- 1 TL Sweet paprika powder
- ½ TL pepper
For the tomato cream sauce:
- 400 G pureed tomatoes
- 200 ml whipped cream or sour cream
- 1 go. TL Vegetable broth powder
- 1 TL oregano
- ½ TL Garlic powder or 1 fresh, pressed clove
- 1 TL Sweet paprika powder
- 0.5 TL Paprika, smoked
- 1 good pinch of sugar
For gratinating:
- 150 G grated cheese e.g. B. Gouda, Edam or a mix with mozzarella
-
Preheat oven: Preheat the oven to 200 °C top/bottom heat (180 °C fan oven). Lightly grease a baking dish (approx. 25 × 30 cm).
-
Prepare mince mixture: Knead the minced meat thoroughly with the finely diced onion, egg, breadcrumbs, mustard, salt, paprika powder and pepper in a bowl until a uniform, smooth mixture is formed.
-
Form rolls: Divide the minced mixture into 8 equal portions (approx. 70 g each). Form each portion into a compact, oblong roll. Place a minced roll on each slice of ham and roll it up tightly. Place the rolls side by side in the baking dish with the seam side down.
-
Mix cold sauce: Mix the pureed tomatoes, cream, vegetable stock powder, oregano, garlic powder, paprika powder and sugar in a bowl with a whisk until smooth. Season to taste – the sauce can taste intense as the meat absorbs the flavor while baking. Tip: Do not boil the sauce, it will be perfect in the oven with the rolls.
-
Spread the sauce and cheese: Pour the cold sauce evenly over the rolls so that everything is well covered. Spread the grated cheese generously over it.
-
Bake: Bake in the preheated oven on the middle rack for 25-30 minutes, until the cheese is bubbling golden brown and the minced meat is cooked through. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Frequently asked questions about ham minced rolls answered briefly
Yes, that actually works great. Form the rolls, place them in the baking dish, pour the cold sauce over them and put everything covered in the fridge. The next day just sprinkle the cheese on top and put it in the oven – then allow 5 minutes longer baking time because everything comes out of the fridge.
Normal cooked ham in medium-thick slices is ideal. Ham that is too thin will tear when rolled. Alternatively, you can also use nut ham or Black Forest ham – these are saltier and more intense, so you should salt the mince a little less.
This almost always happens with thinly sliced ham. Make sure that the slices have a certain thickness. It also helps not to make the minced roll too thick and not to pull the ham too tightly, but rather to roll it loosely.
Pasta like fusilli or penne absorbs the creamy tomato cream sauce best. But also rice, boiled potatoes or [Kartoffelpüree](Mashed potatoes – my favorite side dish) go perfectly with it. For freshness, we recommend a simple green salad.
Basically yes – it’s best to freeze before baking. Place the raw rolls with sauce in the mold, cover and freeze. To reheat, thaw in the fridge overnight, then sprinkle with cheese and bake as usual. Rolls that have already been baked lose some of their juiciness when frozen.
