Synium Software, operator of MacTechNews.de, among others, has released the first major update for DockThings. The basic concept of the macOS tool is to store almost any content imaginable in any number of docks for quick access. Click on the respective tile and the content opens – with countless options for configuring the storage areas. As it turned out, there was obviously a lot of need for such a solution, as the app was high on the macOS charts worldwide in December. At the same time, there was a real flood of suggestions and user requests about how DockThings could be even more useful in everyday life. Version 1.1, which is now available, implements many of these. We would like to thank you for the feedback, which came primarily from MTN readers!
DockThings 1.1 with numerous innovations
Examples of new features: View folder contents directly in DockThings with a click, lock or unlock all contents of a dock in just one step, or quickly add new rows and columns using the context menu. DockThings 1.1 also offers numerous new options to adapt the behavior of the app to your exact needs. You can create your own icons for apps and other content, as can more precise settings for colors or text properties. Keyboard/touchpad controls for switching tabs are also included in version 1.1. You can find the full release notes either in the Mac App Store or on our website.

Price and availability
DockThings for Mac requires macOS 15 Sequoia or macOS 26 Tahoe (on both M and Intel Macs). As an introductory offer, the app currently only costs 9.99 euros (instead of 19.99). DockThings is available in the Mac App Store. There are some more screenshots and a demo video on the product pages. DockThings 1.1 is of course a free update for all version 1 customers. The update was activated on Wednesday – so anyone who has activated automatic updates should have already received the new version.
