Almost exactly a year ago, Apple introduced a major expansion of AppleCare hardware insurance. Under the name “AppleCare One”, the scope of services and handling changed significantly. Since then, it has been possible to insure several Apple devices at the same time under the conditions of AppleCare+ instead of having to take out individual insurance policies. However, this option was initially only available to US customers and not on the international market. That is now changing, as the company explains in a press release. It announces the “immediate launch in Germany” – although a paragraph later it says that from “August 4th” customers can complete the offer on Apple.com or in a store. Three devices for 20.99 euros
For 20.99 euros per month, AppleCare One covers up to three devices; additional devices cost 5.99 euros. The “theft and loss protection” to replace lost devices is also being expanded to include iPads and the Apple Watch. Products are considered qualified devices up to four years old (headphones: one year) if they pass a user-executable diagnostic routine and are “in good condition”. According to Apple’s calculation example, you save up to 13.48 euros per month if the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch were previously protected separately.
By the way, users do not have to permanently commit to the respective devices, because individual devices can be moved in and out of the cover at any time. Apple also promises simplified handling of subscriptions. For example, if you trade in an iPhone and receive the new device, the additional coverage applies automatically.
Flat rates upon use
If you need repairs or have lost your iPhone, service flat rates apply – but these are significantly below the normal prices. For the iPhone, this is 29 euros for defective displays, 99 euros for “accidental damage” and 129 euros for theft/loss. For Macs, additional payments start from 59 euros (MacBook Neo, display) up to 259 euros (other models, other damage).
