New leaks for the iPhone 18 (Pro): dimensions of the Dynamic Island, brighter display | News

It is now almost certain that the front section of the iPhone 18 Pro differs from the previous series. However, while Jon Prosser assumes there will be a small recess for the camera in the top left corner, the leaker Setsuna Digital sees it differently: He expects the Dynamic Island to remain, but that it will take up less space than before (see here). Now another well-known leaker is speaking out. Ice Universe names the exact dimensions of the Dynamic Island for Apple’s future top model.

Almost 35 percent narrower: The new Dynamic Island
Anyone who owned an iPhone 14 Pro shortly after its release did not necessarily have to tell others about the purchase: the Dynamic Island clearly indicated the new model series at the time. The regular iPhone 14 and the earlier Pro variants had to make do with the conventional notch. The iPhone 18 Pro probably doesn’t make such a noticeable jump, but according to Ice Universe, the Dynamic Island shrinks by around 35 percent: the width of the pill-shaped recess is no longer 20.7, but only 13.5 millimeters. This change applies to the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max; this change will probably not apply to the iPhone 18 without an additional name. To illustrate the difference, Ice Universe released a mockup of the front of the iPhone 18 Pro:

iPhone 18 gets a brighter display
Although the iPhone 18 remains unaffected by this change, the device’s panel is said to be better, as Setsuna Digital reports. It is hardly possible for the Chinese supplier BOE to produce displays for the model because Apple has extremely high brightness requirements. However, it is not clear from the leaker’s statements how bright the screen actually is. The iPhone 13 and 14 panels had a typical maximum brightness of 800 nits, with HDR content reaching up to 1,200 nits. The iPhone 15, 16 and 17 have a typical maximum brightness of 1,000 nits, and up to 3,000 nits are possible outdoors.
