Well prepared is half the battle

Use the day before: Most cakes are even juicier the next day than when they were fresh out of the oven. Anyone who bakes the day before has nothing to do on Women’s Day except cut it up. The same applies to desserts in a glass. They sit in the fridge overnight and get even better.

Work with seasonal ingredients: The rhubarb season starts in March. If you can’t find fresh ones yet, you can also use frozen ones for crumbles, compotes and cold dishes.

Plan cleverly for the coffee klatch: If you’re expecting guests, you shouldn’t plan too many different recipes at once. It is better to have a larger cake as the centerpiece, like the rhubarb hazelnut tart, and a fruity dessert in a glass, for example lemon cream. The latter can be prepared wonderfully the day before, so you have time to enjoy it on Sunday.

Get out the right dishes: Sounds logical, but sometimes you forget it. For example, I regularly forget to put enough cutlery in the dishwasher for everyone. Not to mention the coffee service, which is only used on special occasions.

Women’s Day is exactly the right occasion to pull out something rarely used, dress up a little and treat yourself to something sweet. Or just eating pancakes in comfortable clothes. Whatever you like!
