What is time in everyday blogger life?

I actually wanted to write a really nice blog post this week on the topic of “combining white pants”. With a common thread, a clever introduction, well-placed keywords, charming transitions and at least one sentence that makes you think: “Yes. That’s exactly how it is.” Well.
Instead, I’m sitting here writing a blog post about why I haven’t written a blog post. You could almost say: meta level reached. And honestly? That’s exactly what suits my life pretty well right now.

Why I simply didn’t have the time after Berlin

Because last weekend I was in Berlin with my girlfriend. Long weekend. Sun. Big city. Eat. Run. Look. Talk. More talking. And above all: just live life without constantly thinking about whether it could possibly become a reel. The problem with that? When you’re really having fun, you produce surprisingly little content.

Well, at least I do. Other creators probably film their cappuccino in cinematic slow motion in the morning, put together an outfit reel at lunchtime and upload a “Day in my Life” story in the evening. In Berlin, on the other hand, I mainly did things like: eat, walk, laugh, chat, have another coffee and forget to even take out my cell phone. There wasn’t even a semi-dramatic mirror selfie moment. My Instagram algorithm must now think that I have emigrated or have decided to only live analogue life.

In the end, the new blog post failed less because of time than because of the fact that my life decided to take place at the same time.

Everyday blogger life between content and real life

Back in Munich it wasn’t a relaxing week waiting for me. No. Of course not. Because as soon as you think for a moment: “Oh, everything is getting calmer somehow,” life laughs very loudly and throws a stack of receipts at you. I’m still a complete one-woman show here.

That always sounds a little more glamorous than it actually is. In reality, that means: I’m an editor, photographer, copywriter, idea collector, accountant, customer service person, network department, social media team and sometimes probably my own intern. And in between, I sort laundry. A lot of laundry.

Because while I’m theoretically writing about white pants and spring looks, normal family life is still going on in the background. Someone wants to eat, someone wants to talk, there’s laundry to do, and surprisingly, family members don’t just talk about SEO keywords. And then there is my full-time job. The little supporting actor in this whole construct that surprisingly takes up most of my time.

Why everyday blogger life is often less glamorous than expected

I think many people always imagine everyday life as a creator to be incredibly glamorous. Photograph outfits. A little typing. Have a coffee here. There’s an event. The truth looks more like this:
“Why does this plugin no longer work?”
“When was the last time I made a backup?”
“Where’s the bill from February?”
“Why doesn’t the new accounting program sync anything except my anger levels?”

Since the beginning of the year I have had a new accounting tool. It promises “simple and intuitive processes”. However, it mainly claims that about itself. Personally, I sit in front of it like my mother in front of an AirDrop request.

It will probably get easier at some point. Probably exactly at the moment when I understood what I was actually doing. Until then, I’ll bravely click through menus and just hope that the tax office has a sense of humor.

Why networking has become so important for fashion bloggers

What’s more, networking is now simply part of it. And not the unpleasant “I’m handing out business cards at a trade fair” type of networking. But real visibility. Get to know people. Maintain contacts. To remember. Stay in your head. Building reach purely organically currently works about as reliably as white trousers in rainy weather.

Not at all.

In the fashion sector, you are now competing with huge publishing houses, large shops and perfectly optimized SEO machines that probably employ entire teams just so that someone somewhere searches for “white pants combination” and ends up exactly where they are supposed to. Then I sit there. With my blog. A pair of white jeans. And a half-finished draft in the WordPress background. And no, I have neither the desire nor the budget to sink huge amounts of money into advertising on Google or Meta. Especially not when my budget would probably last for around three hours of visibility.

Maybe four if no one else is promoting “summer trend white pants.”

Combining white trousers: why they still remain my favorite

And that brings us finally to the actual fashion topic. The white pants. The piece of clothing that is discussed every spring as if it were a social experiment. Too sensitive. Too impractical. Too dangerous. Too transparent. To something. And yet I love white pants. Precisely because of that.

Because they immediately look like spring. For ease. After “I act like I have my life completely under control.” A pair of white trousers is often enough to make an outfit look much fresher. In the pictures I’m wearing it more classically with a short trench, neutral tones and brown accessories. A look that lies somewhere between “I have an appointment” and “I’m just grabbing a quick coffee”.

And then again much more casual with a striped shirt and windbreaker. I like exactly this break in style. A bit French. A bit sporty. Kind of like I happened to be stylish and didn’t think anything of it. Which of course would be a lie. Because I probably think about outfits much longer than I think about my tax documents. Which, to be honest, is a lot more fun.

Why I keep going despite lack of time

Yes, sometimes there isn’t enough time. Sometimes there is also a lack of energy. And sometimes there is simply not enough space in your head between everyday life, work, family, technology chaos and receipts that suddenly disappear as soon as you urgently need them. But I still love this. This blog. The pictures. The lyrics. The fashion. This little creative play area in the middle of real life.

And maybe that’s exactly the reason why I keep going. Not because I have to. But because I don’t want to go without it. So thank you for stopping by again today. Even though I’m of course publishing my Sunday blog post as usual, this week I still constantly had the feeling that I was behind on everything. Not with ideas – more with time. But that’s probably exactly what’s part of my life now.

And if you like my blog, please subscribe. To be honest, for me this is the best reward ever. Even more beautiful than any keyword strategy in the world. Thank you for your time and have a nice Pentecost weekend.
And now I would like to know: Do you also like to wear white pants or are your team “much too dangerous for my everyday life”?

White pants

Zara – current collection. I have them in two colors because I think the fit is great. There are other colors and you can find them here. There is another alternative here at Armedangels – a barrel denim in white (affiliate link).
I also think this model from Marc O’Polo (affiliate link) is very cool.

Striped sweater

Bought second hand. Saw this funny striped shirt here at Bonprix (affiliate link) and the sweatshirt from Marc O’Polo makes me wonder why I haven’t bought it yet – here in the shop (affiliate link).

Windbreaker

Polo Ralph Lauren – you can find this jacket in the shop here (affiliate link) and I love it. It was really worth every cent.
