The Guam Visitors Bureau announced today that registration is full and now closed in the Half Marathon division of the 2026 Guam Ko’ko’ Road Race Weekend. Organizers are continuing to recruit runners for the Ko’ko’ Kids Fun Run and 4-person teams for the Ko’ko’ Ekiden relay.
“Not only have we reached our single-runner registration goals for this year’s half-marathon event, but we’ve maxed it out more than three weeks before race weekend,” said Frank Arriola, Acting President and CEO of GVB.
Half Marathon participants are set to take their mark on Sunday, April 12, along San Vitores Road in Tumon, right in front of GVB headquarters.
“That’s a record-breaking registration for the half-marathon event,” said Kraig Camacho, Senior Destination Specialist with GVB. “But we have a waitlist and will do our best to accommodate interested runners.”
Now, race organizers turn their attention to registration for two other race categories:
(A) The Ko’ko’ Kids Fun Run for children ages 4 – 12 years old at Governor Joseph Flores Memorial Park along Ypao Beach on Saturday morning, April 11, beginning at 7:00 AM.
(B ) The Ko’ko’ Ekiden relay race will be kicking off at 5:30 AM in front of GVB headquarters on Sunday morning, April 12.

“2025 Ko’ko’ Ekiden relay teams pose with Kika the Ko’ko’ Bird before the race.
We invite teams, clubs, and sports organizations from schools, plus agencies, businesses, nonprofits, sports teams, and groups of friends to form four-person relay squads,” said Camacho. “Passing the sash from one team member to another, each Ekiden relayer will run an equal leg of 3.25 miles (~5km) to complete a total half-marathon distance of 13 miles.”
Kids of all ages and Ekiden relay teams can still sign up for these races at visitguam.com/koko.
Rules for participation in all Ko’ko’ races are listed at the registration site online. Participants can stay tuned for more information on packet pick-up.
“Showing up for fitness, fun, health, and camaraderie is what matters,” said Arriola. “Not only is this event for a good cause, it also ties into GVB’s springtime Welcome to Wellness Month promotion, Earth Month, and the Haramatsuri Japan Festival at Ypao Beach Park on April 11.”

Partial proceeds from registration will be used towards the care and preservation of the endangered Ko’ko bird. Also known as the Guam Rail, the flightless Ko’ko’ bird is endemic to Guam. It became extinct in the wild but was bred in captivity to prevent total extinction. It has been reintroduced into the wild on Rota and on Cocos Island (Dåno’) off the coastal village of Malesso’ on Guam.
