In the Mac App Store, Apple does not mention any details about the update, but only speaks of “stability improvements and bug fixes”. To find out more, you have to go to the English-language release notes page – the German-language one is stuck on the penultimate update. Here are some details that appear:
- The “Input” drop-down menu can now be operated via VoiceOver
Apple Loops:
- The Apple Loops in the loop browser adopt the key of the song in the audio preview (see image).
Split:
- When exporting a song for GarageBand (iOS), the iCloud folder from the target app is now the default storage destination.
Generally:
- The overall file size of saved GarageBand projects is smaller.
- The pedalboard no longer changes position on the screen when you resize the main window.
- Previously, if you inserted a region into a locked track, a new piano track was created with the inserted region. This is no longer the case.
The last entry needs an explanation:
Via “Configure track header” (+T) users can display a lane lock. This can then be activated for individual tracks to reduce the CPU load. If you now try to insert audio material into a locked track, a new track was simply created – without asking the user first. GarageBand 10.4.14, however, points out the fact that pasting is not allowed in locked tracks and asks for permission to move that audio region to the next unlocked track.

The loops in the loop overview now adapt to the preselected key.
Reference to Creator Studio
There are no further adjustments to the liquid glass design introduced with macOS 26 (Tahoe). The system requirements increase by one point before the point: While 14.5 (Sonoma) was previously required, Garageband 10.4.14 requires macOS 15.6 (Sequoia). Also new are references to the “Apple Creator Studio” software subscription in the program menu and in the template selection. However, GarageBand itself does not offer any additional functions for subscribers; these are reserved for Logic Pro.
