The 10 best mobile phone providers in Germany – is yours there?

Changing your cell phone tariff can be really worthwhile. According to a current study by the German Institute for Service Quality, consumers can save up to 1,300 euros in two years, depending on their usage behavior. Cheap discount brands often do better than the large network operators. We show you the ten best mobile phone providers in Germany.

Which cell phone tariff is the right one depends heavily on your own usage behavior. Anyone who only occasionally takes their smartphone out of their pocket to make calls needs a completely different offer than someone who regularly streams and surfs on the go. That’s why there isn’t one best provider, but rather separate favorites for each type of user. In this article we clarify which companies suit which users.

Save up to 1,300 euros with the right mobile phone provider

A current study by the German Institute for Service Quality (DISQ) examined 25 mobile phone providers to determine the best offers. The tariff costs and conditions for four typical user profiles as well as the online service were evaluated. Depending on your usage behavior, you can save around 1,300 euros over a period of 24 months if you switch to the cheapest provider.

If you pay less, you don’t necessarily forego quality, as many affordable brands are based on the infrastructure of the three major network operators. Their inexpensive offshoots often even perform better than the companies themselves.

Our ranking refers to the profile of a typical smartphone user – i.e. people who make an average amount of phone calls and have a moderate data requirement. We also clarify who performs best in the categories “light phone users”, “intensive users” and “all-net flat users”.

10th place: Fyve

The first representative in our top ten is the discount provider Fyve, which was included in the DISQ test 79.5 points and the quality rating “good”. For the average smartphone user, the result is just enough for the top ten. However, when it comes to all-net flat tariffs, Fyve comes in last place.
