Balance sheet 2025 – this food blogger tradition belongs to the end of the year! That’s why I’m back this year at the Food Blog Balance 2025, Sabrina and Steffen’s traditional culinary review of the year. Taking stock in peace and quiet, is that something you do for your life too? The rough nights are also a perfect opportunity to reflect on the last year and simply enjoy the beautiful moments again, but also to become clear about things that you no longer want to take with you into the new year. Traditionally, I always make photo books for my sons, as this is a time to relive the past year. On the blog I take a closer look at everything by answering the questions. And use this to develop a few resolutions for the next year, but ultimately blogging thrives on spontaneity, authenticity and fun are the most important factors! It’s nice that you’re visiting me here – I’ve linked my favorite recipes, just click on the photos – it’s worth trying!

Cheesecake from the air fryer according to Jamie Oliver
What was your most successful blog article in 2025?
Hhhmm, I’ll use Google Search Console for this, cauliflower is still my most successful blog article after Ottolenghi, but the air fryer is also one of my most used kitchen appliances and so Jamie Oliver’s cheesecake from the air fryer comes in second place and I published it at the end of last year.

Quick rolls with chia seeds without kneading
Which three of your own blog articles from this year have meant the most to you personally?
What definitely means the most to me are recipes that are well received, not only by me, but also by my family or on the blog, but also posts that I have something in common with. This definitely includes the chia rolls in several ways. A real recipe for success: Incredibly delicious and phenomenally easy, even my husband, who previously only liked rolls from the bakery, likes these rolls. What’s more, we baked these rolls every day on our skiing holiday, so they remind me of a good time! The Königsberger Klopse, a traditional family recipe, and the love letter cookies, which I have wanted to try for many years, meant a lot to me because the two recipes were finally implemented.

Which three from other blogs inspired you the most?
I was inspired by the salmon bites from my food blogger friend Gabi, which I have made several times. I was very inspired by the lentil crackers from eat-this, unfortunately I still haven’t tried them. As mentioned in the previous paragraph, I was finally inspired to implement the love cookies this year.

Which of the recipes you published in 2025 did you cook yourself most often – and why?
The tomato salad made from roasted tomatoes with burata and a special dressing with capers, more on that later! By the way, you can roast the tomatoes on the grill or in the air fryer and, surprisingly, they are healthier roasted than raw. Jamie Oliver’s miso salmon was also a frequently cooked recipe, a great, simple combination with lots of vegetables, I especially like to eat the pickled vegetables with carrots, radishes and spring onions just like that. And the chia rolls are also included here again for the reasons mentioned.

What cooking or blogging problem has been bothering you in 2025? And have you solved it?
Advertising or no advertising – that was my question this year. I was afraid of losing a lot of followers due to advertising, but on the contrary, I had the impression that my numbers had increased. AI is currently my topic, at first it was frowned upon, now no one can avoid using it, but it has to be professional.
What was your biggest culinary discovery this year?
I actually thought it was the capers, but I discovered them last year, this year they were just used everywhere. I once asked my family about the new culinary discovery. For my son it was spring onions.
Which food, which recipe, which kitchen technique, which flavor opened up a whole new world for you?
I like to add capers to salad or salad dressing and have been part of my supplies since this year. I recently tried fermented pepper at my friend Conny’s, it’s on my to-do list. Black garlic and miso paste should be everywhere, and salted lemons also add the ultimate kick to many dishes. The air fryer has overtaken the oven.
What was the best (or funniest) search term that brought visitors to your blog?
What is someone looking for with cola herb jam? Do you have to use canned lenses? I also think it’s a nice search term. I’m wondering too. what Roman rolls are?
What do you want for yourself and your blog for 2026?
Somehow it seems like blogs are no longer needed, but so many people still stop by. I hope it stays that way for a long time, because it’s kind of fun!
Many thanks to Sabrina and Steffen for this tradition!
