According to Google, a total of three billion users use Gmail. However, since the beginning of the year, these have had to forego some conveniences if they include external mailboxes (see here). After all, the group is promising new features, which are initially only available in English and in the USA. However, other world regions and languages are to follow “in the coming months”. Specifically, Google has some AI tools in mind to make it easier to search for relevant information in emails. Gemini, for example, summarizes the most important points of entire email conversations and users can ask questions in natural language. Google gives an example: “Who was the plumber who gave me a quote to renovate the bathroom last year?” The AI then takes care of the question and provides the appropriate answers. Furthermore, the “Suggested Replies” are able to create a suitable draft for the reply to an email. These adapt to the user’s writing style and can be adjusted if necessary and checked for correct grammar.
The “AI Inbox” is a personalized overview: It highlights important information and tasks and bundles them in a list.
