There’s another birthday party coming up here in a few days… Oskar will be 5! That’s why we thought about a few gift ideas for our 5th birthday and I asked for your tips on Instagram. Thanks a million for the cool suggestions! I would like to share them with you today.

Bicycle & Co
Oskar already has a bike (from woom, like the balance bike before – we are very happy! ❤️) and loves riding it. That’s why we have a few additions to the list: a new, larger helmet*, a bicycle handlebar bag*, a speedometer* and a rain cover for the helmet*.
Something for the dress-up box
Role-playing and dressing up is always fun – the lion sweater, for example, is still very popular here! The boys also have high-visibility vests that were once given as promotional gifts and they also really enjoy playing with them (similar here*).
We also have a craftsman’s helmet* and a fireman’s helmet* on Oskar’s wish list – but he would certainly be happy about other costumes too!
I also planned to sew an Elmar*-inspired sweater for him… hopefully it will work as a normal piece of clothing and also as a disguise 🙂
Joint ventures
For me, one of the most beautiful gifts: time spent together. There are also great opportunities for children to go on trips and do things together! A few ideas for Ludwigsburg and the surrounding area:
- Classic: A visit to Blooming Baroque ❤️ – for example to the pumpkin exhibition ❤️
- Participatory exhibition Great Feelings (Ludwigsburg Museum, October 20, 2024 – April 6, 2025)
- Fascination with LEGO ❤️ (exhibition in the Ludwigsburg Residence Palace, November 16th, 2024-April 27th, 2025)
Of the Lego exhibition Oskar was so excited last time! Since then he has enjoyed reenacting it and we can regularly admire his Lego buildings in a new exhibition at home. - Skyland Visitor Center Stuttgart Airport.(Thurs-Sun)
We’ve already been to the visitors’ terrace ❤️, which was a really cool trip and the boys really enjoyed it! Skyland was closed that day, so that would definitely be exciting too. - Participatory exhibition ZOFF! (Young Castle Stuttgart, October 27, 2024 – September 3, 2025)
- One City tour – preferably in a double-decker bus

We even planned this before the birthday – Children under 5 still travel for free 😉 - Travel by bus + trains of all kinds
A trip like this is usually a highlight! For example, my sister once gave Oskar a ride on the “Zacke” cog railway ❤️, and that was a really nice trip.
