With Tanera Skin, founder Isabelle Stortz (28) comes to “The Lion’s Den” and offers 15 percent of her company for 200,000 euros. She addresses a topic that affects many but is rarely discussed openly: we are talking about keratosis pilaris, also known medically as keratosis pilaris. The skin disease is estimated to affect 30 to 40 percent of people. “Millions of people have grater skin and yet there are hardly any products that are really tailored to it,” says Stortz. This is exactly where her brand comes in: a skin care line specifically for those affected.

At the time of the pitch, there are no creams yet, but there is still a first product: a peeling glove made of biodegradable viscose that is intended to mechanically remove dead skin cells. According to the founder, additional care products are planned. The glove will be sold for 19.95 euros and the production costs are less than one euro.

Test in the studio and first doubts

Judith Williams grabs it herself and tests the product in the studio. The other lions also look closely while Stortz explains her concept. The founder has previously worked in startups, private equity and sales, among other things, and according to her own statement, she primarily brings social media reach, including viral videos.

Stortz says it has made sales of 47,000 euros in the past few months, but has also had delivery bottlenecks at times.

Carsten Maschmeyer also decides against investing, but sees potential in the founder herself. “You are a strong personality. If that doesn’t work out, I would like to hire you in sales or marketing,” he says. However, he is out as an investor.

Williams makes deal offer

In the end, only Williams remains in the game. She is also critical of the high valuation, but makes a concrete offer: “I’ll give you 200,000 euros, but I need 40 percent for it.” The founder accepts the offer. This means that the deal is concluded on the show – and afterwards.

When asked by Gründerszene, Stortz confirmed: “The deal came about exactly as shown in the show.”

Online shop already active

Tanera Skin’s products are now available in its own online shop. The peeling glove now costs 9.95 euros, but is also offered in various sets – from 35 euros to 240 euros. Complementary skincare products such as the Deep Peel Cleanser or the Fluid Inventor are also sold. The range will be expanded in the future.
