My newsletter was obviously still free last week.
While I was trying to get back into everyday life – emails, lists, the usual organizational bingo – he became rare.
Maybe it was still somewhere between cookie crumbs and residual glitter.
He came in the middle of the week. A little late, but still.
And honestly: it would have been a shame if my text hadn’t reached you via social media. Just that one. Just these thoughts.
So if the functionality of my newsletter isn’t a good reason to subscribe to it – then I don’t know what is. Today’s post about knee socks is definitely worth a blog subscription. 😉

Satisfaction – that would be nice
I’ve been thinking a lot about contentment lately.
Not because I finally found her.
More likely because it always disappears just when you think you’ve caught it.
Contentment sounds so stable, but it rarely is.
It appears when you don’t expect anything – and disappears as soon as you take a closer look.
Maybe that’s exactly why it’s so complicated.
And of course it would be wonderful to be permanently satisfied.
But if I’m honest: we would hardly move anymore.
We wouldn’t look, we wouldn’t try, we wouldn’t change anything.
Perhaps dissatisfaction is not the opposite, but rather the driving force that keeps us going in the first place.
Maybe contentment isn’t a state at all,
but just this moment,
in which you briefly stop wanting something.
Knee socks and other little realities
Speaking of movement. I’m currently mostly moving between my desk, coffee machine and wardrobe (apart from the morning dog walk).
But knee socks are very suitable for both cases.
I used to almost only wear them under pants.
Practical, warm, invisible.
But many are simply too beautiful to keep hidden – fine materials, colors, patterns that tell something if you let them.
When paired with a mini skirt, they instantly change the look.
Not dramatic, but clear.
A little lighter, a little less perfect.
And I like that. Maybe because it doesn’t try to be more than it is.
No statement, no trend. Just clothing that does its job.
A few little facts about knee socks
The term knee-high appeared as early as the 18th century.
Back then, stockings were secured with garters below the knee – practical thought, charming implementation.
In England, knee socks are still part of the school uniform today.
Perhaps this is where their good reputation comes from – an image that can safely be ignored today.
The little balance
I notice that for me, satisfaction has a lot to do with acceptance.
To leave things as they are – even if they don’t shine.
It sometimes shows up in moments that feel like “it’s okay.”
Maybe that’s why I’m excited about something as mundane as knee socks.
They don’t make anything big of themselves.
They’re just there.
Warm, practical, reliable.
And sometimes that’s just enough.
Finally: technique, tact and a bit of humor

Sometimes technology works, sometimes it doesn’t, and sometimes life is surprisingly similar.
