The iPhone Air may be slim, elegant and powerful, but maximum battery life has not been one of the strengths of the model series presented last fall. The 3,149 mAh currently offered is enough for many users for a normal day, but an iPhone 17 already has almost 3,700 mAh, and the iPhone 17 Pro (with SIM slot) even has almost 4,000 mAh. Now the leaker Digital Chat Station is speaking out again and publishing information about the iPhone Air 2 – after he had just processed the two Pro models of the upcoming iPhone 18 (see message). Increase of 11 percent
The battery capacity of the second generation of the thinnest iPhone increases significantly – to 3,500 mAh. If you roughly interpolate this data based on Apple’s calculation, an increase of 11 percent would mean an increase from 27 to 30 hours. However, the value should be viewed with caution as the energy requirements of the device are not yet known. It’s unlikely to be less than 30 hours, because the A20 Pro supposedly offers additional efficiency advantages. It is very likely that nothing will change in the basic design or display size. The increase in capacity is supposedly made possible by an even thinner display, which then allows more space inside.
Probably in March/April 2027
The iPhone Air 2 is currently expected for spring 2027, along with the iPhone 18 and the iPhone 18e. The most important improvements that the device offers, in addition to the A20 Pro and more battery life, are a second rear camera. In doing so, Apple is eliminating one of the most noticeable compromises of the first iPhone Air, which, as is well known, had to make do with a single main camera. Bloomberg recently reported that the second module is an ultra-wide-angle camera – and not a telephoto lens. Vapor chamber cooling was also discussed. In terms of price, however, the price will almost certainly go up because the components are more expensive, especially since the iPhone division is already facing price increases.
