In short: YouTube is now available for Vision Pro +++ More Android smartphones will soon be compatible with AirDrop | News

The Vision Pro is already in its second generation. However, the new series does not solve one of the biggest weak points: the product still lacks useful apps that have been optimized for the special properties of the headset. For example, Netflix did not publish an application for the Vision Pro even two years after its market launch in the USA. The situation is similar at Google. But the company now has an insight: From now on, users can find a native YouTube app for the spatial computing device in the App Store.
Until now, owners of a Vision Pro had to use the Internet browser to watch videos on YouTube – which of course comes with limitations compared to a separate app. For example, corresponding videos can now also be displayed in spatial mode. 8K videos are hard to find, but they also work – as long as it’s the model of the headset with the M5 chip that was released last year. The 180 megabyte software requires visionOS 26 or newer.
Transfer data between Android and iOS via Quick Share
Last year, Google surprised people with a new function: the offshoots of the current Pixel 10 series were now able to exchange files with an iPhone, iPad or Mac via Quick Share (see here). This was made possible because Quick Share supports the AirDrop protocol – without Apple’s support.
Now Eric Kay, vice president of engineering for Android, confirms that interoperability will be expanded to many more devices this year. Google invested a lot of time and energy into the feature. There will be “exciting announcements” on this matter soon. So far, only Nothing has stated that it is working on implementing this function for its own devices. By the way, Kay also emphasized that she wanted to simplify data transfer when switching from iOS to Android. Apple has already addressed this matter and made improvements with iOS 26.3.
