Nimble
+++ Number check! The Berlin delivery service Flink is providing official company figures for the first time. In 2023, the quick commerce provider generated sales of around 467 million euros. “Of this, EUR 287 million (previous year: EUR 248 million) was attributable to Germany and EUR 160 million (previous year: EUR 128 million) to the Netherlands,” it says in the annual financial statements. The annual loss fell from 514.7 million to 213.1 million. Regarding the following years it says: “For 2024, a sales increase in the high single-digit to low double-digit percentage range is expected. An acceleration of sales growth is planned for 2025, which should lead to moderate double-digit growth. An improved, but still negative, operating result is expected for both years compared to the previous year.” Flink is far from out of the woods yet, but seems to be on the right track for now. But this will still cost several million. Especially since the company recently went on a course of expansion again. (Exciting Commerce) More about Flink
Longdock
+++ What a growth story! The young Berlin AI startup Langdock, founded in 2023, is growing to 15 million annual recurring revenue (ARR). “We crossed $15M ARR in the winter break! In 2025, we grew our ARR by 10x and saw a similar increase in adoption and usage. We now serve more than 3,000 customers worldwide across various industries and segments, all from our office in Berlin,” writes founder Lennard Schmidt on Linkedin. The young company only announced 12 million ARR in mid-November. And it wasn’t until the end of October that the busy team reached 10 million. In April there were only 3 million. The startup positions itself as an “AI platform for companies”. “The Langdock platform is the only tool you need in your company to explore all the possibilities of generative AI,” it says about the concept. General Catalyst, La Famiglia, Y Combinator, Rolf Schroemgens (trivago), Hanno Renner (Personio) and Erik Muttersbach (Forto) recently invested $3 million in Langdock. A truly impressive pace. EU Inc
+++ Company formation in 48 hours! EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the new, EU-wide corporate form EU Inc. at the World Economic Forum in Davos. “We need a single, simple set of rules that applies seamlessly everywhere in our Union. So that companies can operate much more easily in all member states,” said von der Leyen, according to Spiegel. There should be a concrete legislative proposal in March. In doing so, the EU is fulfilling a heartfelt wish of the European startup scene. (Mirror) More about EU Inc
Startup bankruptcies
+++ In 2025, several million-dollar startups will have failed again. Above all, the air taxi developer Lilium. But InsurTech Element, GreenTech Zolar and the lithium-ion battery company CustomCells also slipped into bankruptcy. More about startup bankruptcies
