year of the fire horse – by Jessie Weiss

If you, like me, have spent half your life writing and are slowly phasing it out and only edit videos for Instagram and record podcasts, then you often don’t even notice that an essential part is missing.

Although “missing” doesn’t quite apply. My life outside of the blogosphere, which hardly exists anymore anyway, is so wild, busy and yes, exhausting that I didn’t even notice how little I sit at my laptop to write texts.

In 2007 I co-founded the first well-known fashion blog LesMads Journalles has held the flag for written content high for many years. Until after the birth of my third child it became increasingly difficult to find concentration and time for my blog while going through this mindlessly scrolling It became apparent on social media platforms that articles were being clicked on less and less. Short videos are much more entertaining, I get that.

And so my mood to write faded.

How often in the last few months it has been suggested to me that I should at least start with Substack. Easy to follow and you can also read something because not everyone depends on the stories 24/7. Sounds logical because I a) challenge myself to write more again and b) give the same answers to the same questions every day. So why not bundle all the links, information, recipes and finds here?

The Year of the Fire Horse seems to me to be ideal for running away with you in your luggage.

My guiding principle in over 19 years on the Internet has always been: Standing still is death, you have to stay on the ball in order to stay relevant and interested. I’m turning 40 in April, which still sounds TOTALLY STUPID to me, I’m currently on the journey to becoming my fittest self and I’m happy every day that you (still) want to accompany me on this. From now on also regularly here on Substack.

My idea goes like this: No gatekeeping here – your aforementioned truffle pig since 2007. Everything from my looks, my interior & garden design, recipes, curated shopping lists, family life & our podcast <3

Thanks for being there!
