From a Golden Globe perspective, the “Best Series (Musical or Comedy)” of 2025 was Seth Rogen’s “The Studio.” On top of that, Rogen, who plays both a leading role and a producer, won the award for best leading actor in this category. This is Rogen’s first Golden Globe, and the award is not without a certain irony: one episode of the series revolves around a Golden Globe award. The producer picked up on this in his acceptance speech: “I thought the only way I was going to get an award was to do a whole show about how I got one.”
Pluribus: Best Actress
Rhea Seehorn received the award for best actress in a drama series. It is also her first Golden Globe. She thanked director Vince Gilligan (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) for writing the role of a lifetime. Pluribus was also nominated for best drama series, but could not prevail against “The Pitt”. The Apple TV exclusive “Severance” and “Slow Horses” were also nominated in this category.
Interim balance: 25 awards
The “Awards Season” is not over yet; Both the American Director’s Guild (ADG) and the Hollywood union SAG-AFTRA will still award prizes. The Academy Awards traditionally conclude the series of awards on March 15th. The nominations for the trophy, also known as the Oscars, will be announced on January 22nd.
