SUVs are now the most popular type of car in Germany, but most models are not cheap. If you don’t need a lot of space but want to benefit from safety and the elevated seating position, you will find a cheaper alternative in the “mini SUV” segment.

It doesn’t always have to be the huge SUV that blows up the garage entrance and takes up two parking spaces. If you want to use the comfort and high seating position of an SUV, but don’t want to forego flexibility and pay a lot, there is an alternative called a mini SUV. These vehicles are much more suitable for everyday use, especially in the city, and often cost significantly less. We present the cheapest models.

These mini SUVs can be had for little money

However, the price range in this segment is wide and there is an option for every budget. In the case of inexpensive models, you can get it for less than 16,000 euros. Upgraded electric models such as the Opel Mokka GSE or the Lexus LBX E-FOUR, however, are close to the upper class at over 45,000 euros. If you are looking for a real bargain, you have to compare carefully.

Whether a vehicle is considered a mini SUV, city SUV or crossover often depends on the manufacturer’s marketing strategy. Nevertheless, almost all models in this class use the platform of a classic small car, as shown, for example, by the relationship between the Seat Arona and the Seat Ibiza or the VW T-Cross and the VW Polo.

Despite their beefy appearance, these vehicles are not real off-road vehicles, as they usually lack off-road gear or significant ground clearance. The biggest advantage is the sitting position, which is a few centimeters higher, which makes entry more comfortable and improves the overview.
