The quality of electric cars depends on the battery. The battery is the heart of every electric car, and concerns about wear and tear stop many people from buying one. That’s why in this article we clarify which models still deliver performance even after many kilometers have been driven.
When buying a petrol engine it usually doesn’t play a big role, but with electric cars it is often the deciding factor: the range. This is determined by the respective battery, which is usually the most expensive component. That’s why buyers are often worried that the battery will quickly lose performance and that you will have to charge your vehicle more and more often. The good news is that the reality is much more encouraging than the reports sometimes suggest.
This is how high the power loss is in electric cars
The data for our ranking comes from the Swedish used car dealer Carla, which carried out almost 10,000 battery tests between 2022 and 2026. The so-called State of Health (SoH) was determined. This reveals how much capacity a battery still has compared to when it was new.
According to the study, on average 92.4 percent of the performance was retained after 100,000 kilometers. This means the average loss is just 7.6 percent. And there is good news: after 100,000 kilometers, the loss of capacity slows down, as it mainly occurs at the beginning.
How long the battery lasts depends on the user. Frequent fast charging in particular leads to greater wear and tear. And of course temperatures also affect the range of electric cars. In the following top ten we present the models that can maintain their capacity the longest.
10th place: Audi e-tron 55
The first to arrive is a German car, the Audi e-tron 55. Its large 95 kWh battery still has an average SoH of after more than 100,000 kilometers 92.9 Percent. This puts the SUV slightly above the overall average of all vehicles tested.
