The story of a modern college student who brings a few special items into the zombie world and joins the protagonists.
Chapter 2, the plot begins to unfold
Duke supported Rick and walked slowly from the hospital to his home. The first zombie they met on the road was the zombie with only half of its body left on TV. In order to adapt to this world in the future, Duke pulled out his straight knife without hesitation and chopped it down, splitting the zombie’s head in two. The straight knife also sank more than 10 centimeters along the lawn. It was easily pulled out and wiped on the zombie’s clothes. The two continued to walk towards Rick’s home. Duke and Rick soon arrived at Rick’s home. Rick missed his wife and son very much.
“Lola, Lola…”
“Carl, Carl…” Rick started calling his wife and son’s names as soon as he entered the door.
“Where are you?” Rick searched every room, but he still couldn’t find his wife and son.
“It seems they have left.” Duke picked up a piece of paper on the table in the living room and said to Rick. This was a greeting from Carl to Rick.
The two rested for a night at Rick’s house and started looking for Lola and Carl.
Rick doesn’t know where to find his wife and son. Of course, our Duke will definitely not tell him, otherwise it will be meaningless. Moreover, Duke really doesn’t like Sean in the original book. Nothing is more delicious than dumplings, and nothing is more fun than sister-in-law. Lola is Sean’s sister-in-law. In less than a month, in order to determine Rick’s life or death, she had that kind of idea about Rick’s wife. He doesn’t want to change the plot. Who knows what will happen after Sean is left behind.
As Rick and Duke were walking, they met a black child. This child was not a zombie, but a living person.
“Hey, kid.” Duke greeted the child.
“Dad, come quickly, there is someone here.” the child shouted.
A tall black man appeared in front of the two of them, holding a baseball bat. Duke discovered that the two were the Morgan father and son in the original play.
“Who are you? Why are you here? Tell me now.” Morgan asked nervously and threateningly. He wanted to protect his son. He didn’t want him to get hurt. In this catastrophic world, he no longer dared to trust strangers.
“Hey, buddy, don’t be nervous, my name is Rick, he is Duke, we don’t mean any harm, we just come out to find food.”
“I’m glad you mean no harm. I have a serious question for you. Have you ever been bitten by a zombie?” Morgan asked, staring at Rick’s waist.
“No, definitely not. This is the gunshot wound I got before the disaster. I’m almost healed now. By the way, I’m the sheriff of this town. Do you have any food here? We’re very hungry.”
“Come on, come with me to dinner.” Morgan replied.
Duke felt that the Morgan people were actually very kind, otherwise how could they invite strangers to dinner when they met? The original drama did not explain what happened to the Morgan father and son later, but it seemed that the situation was not good, so he took them with him when he thought of it.
“Is it just you and your son at home?” Rick asked.
“My wife was infected with the virus and became…” Morgan fell silent here, and his son’s face was also sad.
“Feel sorry”
“It’s okay, what about you guys?” Morgan asked.
“I’m separated from my wife and son, and I’m going to look for them. I met Duke on the way, and he was alone. It’s safer for us to go together.”
“So they should have gone to Atlanta. I heard the government has a shelter there, and all the survivors went there.”
“Really? That’s great, we’ll go find them tomorrow.” Rick looked happy.
“Good luck to you, brother.” Morgan replied calmly.
“What about you? Come with us.” Rick asked.
“Yes, come with us. It’s too dangerous for you to stay here. And you also have to consider your son. He is so young.” Duke advised.
Duke’s words worked, Morgan looked at his son with loving eyes, and rubbed his son’s hair with his rough hands.
“Okay, let’s eat first.” Morgan agreed.
“Okay, after dinner, let’s go to the police station in the small town to get some weapons and ammunition. That’s where I used to work, and there are a lot of guns and ammunition stored there.” Rick told us his plan.
“That’s great. I just lack guns and ammunition now.” Morgan was very excited.
“It’s decided.” Duke has always liked to use that straight knife, but with a gun, he can shoot from a distance, who doesn’t like it?
After finishing their meal, the four of them went to the town police station together. Soon, led by Rick, they entered a weapons storage room. Fortunately, they did not encounter any zombies on the way there.
The four entered the weapons storage room and began to select guns and bullets. Rick put more than half of the weapons and ammunition into the travel bag he brought. The remaining three carried two pistols, a semi-automatic rifle, and a shotgun. Duke also carried the only AWP sniper rifle here. Duke loved playing CF when he was on Earth, and his favorite thing was to use the AWP sniper. Morgan’s son was too young to use firearms properly.
The four men left the police station and came to the parking lot. There was a car in the parking lot, which was a modified police explosion-proof vehicle. They put all the weapons in the car and Morgan chose a police car.
“Take this, we can communicate.” Rick handed each person a walkie-talkie.
Morgan and his son got in the police car, while Rick and Duke got in an explosion-proof car. They planned to sleep at Morgan’s house for one night and start looking for his wife and son the next day. They knew that tomorrow would be a thrilling journey.

Chapter 3, Atlanta (Old Version)
After driving back to Morgan’s house, they prepared to rest.
Duke was lying on the bed alone, the sky gradually darkened, Duke began to think, he had been in this world for one day, this world was full of dangers, he could die from zombies if he was not careful, if it were not for the special forces body, he would have been exhausted long ago, with the space water that could replenish his physical strength and energy at any time, he could occupy an indispensable position in Rick’s team.
This night was Duke’s first night in this world. He slept very late. Fortunately, the Morgan house was completely sealed.
Early the next morning, Duke and his men had breakfast, packed up their things and set off. They drove the police car along the highway straight to Atlanta. They greeted Morgan on the walkie-talkie while driving. Don’t mention it, as anyone who has watched movies knows, Americans have a kind of American sense of humor. They hum little tunes along the way. If you don’t know, you might think these people are on their way to vacation.
Duke and his friends got off the car after driving for an hour and a half. They were very close to the city, but they didn’t dare to go in. They knew there were too many zombies in the city and they couldn’t resist them. (Tell me why Duke didn’t drive. Although Duke could drive, there was still a sheriff in the United States. Although the sheriff was not so intimidating now, Rick was the protagonist of the story.)
There was a house not far from them, and they decided to go there first to see if there were any survivors.
Soon they arrived at the door of the house.
“Hello, is anyone there?”
“Knock, knock, knock…” Duke knocked on the door several times, but no one answered. Rick looked inside through the window.
“There shouldn’t be anyone here. The house isn’t very messy. It seems that it hasn’t been destroyed by zombies. Oh, God.” Rick saw from the mirror on the other side that a wall was written in blood: God, please forgive us! There was a man lying on the table, a corpse to be exact, a rotten corpse, with a pistol next to him, his head was shot through, flies and mosquitoes were crawling all over the corpse, and not far below the man was a woman’s corpse, which was also extremely horrible, rotten everywhere. The four people were deeply shocked.
It’s so cruel and disgusting.
Not far away they found a horse stable with a horse inside. Although the horse was very weak, it was the only living creature they had found so far.
Duke knew that this horse should be the one that Rick rode in the original show, which was later decomposed by zombies in Atlanta. Fortunately, they collected enough gasoline on the way here, otherwise they would have to ride a horse into the city like in the original show.
“Let’s go, this horse can’t survive, the city is not safe, we can’t take it with us.” Rick said.
Dwayne stared at the horse, his eyes revealing a look of reluctance. (The name of Dwayne’s teacher Morgan’s son was mentioned in the original play.)
Soon, Rick and his group arrived in the city. This was Duke’s first time in a big city in the United States. Even though it was a zombie world.
There are rows of cars parked along the streets in the city. The huge city is indeed very quiet, so quiet that it makes people feel very uneasy and suffocated.
The group drove slowly towards the city center at the lowest speed. Gradually, they came to an overpass. They did not see any people, nor did they see the presence of any army. Several zombies behind them were slowly walking towards them, but they did not notice the danger behind them.
Soon they came to a street corner. The situation in front of them shocked everyone. They saw at least five or six hundred zombies blocking the way. These densely packed zombies seemed particularly excited when they saw the approaching car.
Ah Ah
All the zombies tilted their heads, made bursts of horrible noises from their mouths, and attacked the two cars. The scene was really adrenaline-pumping.
“Guys, pay attention, Morgan, your car is following us, let’s rush over and kill these bastards.” Rick yelled.
“Bang, bang, bang…” An unpleasant sound, accompanied by the sound of limbs being squeezed by the bomb-proof vehicle. In the original series, Rick encountered the zombies here, escaped into the tank, and met Glenn, the Han Chinese.
“Guys, there are too many zombies and my car is about to get stuck.” Morgan said on the walkie-talkie.
Duke saw a man on the safety ladder opposite, wearing a baseball cap and waving something with his hands.
“Rick, there’s a man over there. What does he mean?” Duke quickly told Rick.
He s telling us to go in his direction. Come on, guys, turn around, load up.
With a bang, the riot vehicle rushed into the alley with Morgan’s police car and arrived next to the man. Duke opened the door to let the man in.
“Keep going, don’t stop.” The black-haired boy shouted to Rick as soon as he came up.
With the collisions along the way, they finally crossed the entire Atlanta. This was not only thanks to the guidance of the black-haired boy, but also thanks to the special anti-riot vehicle found in the police station. Morgan, who was following behind, was much more pitiful. A Chevrolet police car can now enter the scrap collection station. God knows when it will stop and go on strike. Thanks to the existence of Duke, he avoided contact with More and his hand survived. Speaking of More, until his death, it can only be seen that he is not a great evil person, but this environment has long shaped his character, and he is also a pitiful person.

Chapter 4, Family Reunion (Old Version)
As the roar of the cars got closer, the survivors at the camp site all gathered together and looked at the approaching convoy.
The car slowly stopped in front of the crowd, the door slowly opened, and then Glenn suddenly got out of the car and shouted
“Hey guys, nice to see you, come and meet our new friends.”
Duke and his group walked out slowly. Rick stared at the two figures in front of him as soon as he got out of the car, then ran over and hugged them tightly.
“Lola, Carl, thank God, I can still see you.”
“Rick…” Lola replied excitedly with a choked voice.
“Dad, Dad…” Carl jumped onto Rick excitedly.
“Looking at their family like this, I’m a little envious.” Duke said to Morgan beside him.
“Yeah, it’s an enviable scene,” responded Morgan, hugging his son.
“How touching.” Amy sighed softly.
“Good brother, welcome back” Sean saw that Rick had a strange feeling and there was a hint of hatred in his eyes.
Glenn began to introduce the people in the camp to Rick and his group. After some introductions, everyone went their separate ways and prepared to go about their own business.
Night fell, and a group of people gathered around the fire, cooking dinner and chatting.
“Rick, your family is reunited, and now we need to discuss the future.” Duke said to Rick, who was full of happiness, while he kept wiping the sharp sword in his hand.
“Let’s rest here now, then find some food nearby and then leave.” Rick responded.
Duke didn’t want any more deaths to happen. In fact, the zombies would visit the camp in the next day.
“Okay, I’ll listen to you.”
“Hey, man, nice knife.” Daryl sat on a large log behind Duke.
Duke heard that it was Daryl’s voice. In the original drama, he particularly liked this man who was quiet but very loyal. In the days to come, he would be a very powerful teammate.
“Thank you. Your crossbow is quite good. Teach me sometime.”
The two guys, one who was interested in the exchange and the other who thought they were like-minded, quickly became familiar with each other.
As night fell, everyone else slowly walked to their tents. Duke and Daryl climbed into the old man’s RV with a bottle of vodka (forgive me, I didn’t know there was no indication that alcohol was drinkable). Today they offered to keep watch.
No words were spoken that night. . . .
Early the next morning, Duke was still on the roof of the car patrolling the surroundings, while Daryl had gone to bed in the late night. It was because our Duke had a water hyacinth with a cheat device.
“Hey, good morning, man.” It turned out that Daryl had just woken up.
“morning”
As people slowly got up, the camp regained some life.
Seeing that they were almost done, Duke looked at his watch (which he brought with him from the time travel, and bought at a street stall for 200 yuan. It was old and sturdy, and it was still running.) It was almost time, so Duke and Daryl got off the roof of the car and came to the front of the group of people: “We don’t have much food left, we have to find some people to make some extra money.”
“Okay, Duke, Sean, Moore, Glenn, Morgan and three other men in the camp, the rest of you guard the camp, women and children don’t leave everyone’s sight…” Rick said as he arranged for the people who gathered around. (He is a natural born pig, he started to lead as soon as he arrived)
Chapter 5: Huge Harvest (Old Version)
“It’s quite easy to use. It doesn’t take too much effort to stab it in, and it won’t get stuck and can’t be pulled out.” Duke looked at the straight knife that had been pulled out, wiped it clean on the zombie that had fallen and died, and held it in his hand again. This was Duke’s first real battle. Not long after leaving the camp, the group arrived at a nearby town.
“Hey! Duke, are you okay? You seem very excited.” Glenn trotted over to Duke, stood back to back with him, began to guard against other zombies, and started moving inside the pharmacy.
“It’s okay, I just got scared.” Duke looked around the pharmacy. Several people separated, and he and Glenn came to the pharmacy to find some medicine.
“Hey! Be careful!”.
“Bang!” A zombie who was about to pounce on Duke from behind the shelf was knocked aside by Glenn with the baseball bat in his hand.
“Are you okay?” Glenn helped Duke up, who had just fallen down without fully understanding what had just happened.
“No, no.” Duke breathed a sigh of relief, “Thanks…”
“It was a real close call…”
As they searched the pharmacy, they put all the medicines in the pharmacy into their backpacks. When they came out, they heard Daryl running over here.
“Hurry up, they are coming.” Not far behind Brother Nu, there were at least fifty zombies staggering behind him.
Duke quickly picked up the AWP behind him, ran onto the truck that was loading cargo and started sniping the zombies to buy time for his teammates.
“Puff…” Duke fired a shot, and the head of a zombie in the camera exploded. Duke, who used a gun for the first time, brought out the memories hidden deep in his mind. It turned out that the great god not only gave him the body of a special forces soldier, but also gave him the skills of a special forces soldier.
Puff Puff
He fired, pulled the bolt, and fired again. By the time his teammates arrived in front of the car and got in, Duke had already shot no less than twenty zombies in the head.
On the way back to the camp.
“Duke, thanks.” Daryl said to Duke who was sitting in the passenger seat and cleaning his gun. If it weren’t for him, who knows if anything would have happened just now.
“It’s okay, we are all teammates, we should help each other.” Duke stopped cleaning his gun and responded while looking at the zombies passing by the window from time to time.
He had just used up all his bullets in sniping zombies, and his beloved AWP sniper rifle had become a decoration. He was a little unhappy. Although he had the artifact straight knife on him, he had not yet gotten rid of the mentality of the ordinary people before he traveled through time.
“Stop the car!” Duke suddenly shouted in surprise.
“?!” Daryl was confused but still stopped the car.
“Get out of the car, let’s find something.” Dukla opened the door and jumped out of the car first. After saying that, he rushed out with a straight knife in his hand.
Daryl didn’t want to look for anything now, he just wanted to get back to the camp as soon as possible, but he couldn’t just leave Duke behind, after all, he and Andy were teammates now.
It turned out that there was a military truck in the woods on the side of the road, loaded with a lot of bullets, but not many weapons, and there were a few zombie soldiers wandering around in the truck.
“What are you doing here?” Daryl came over with his crossbow in hand.
“You’re here just in time, buddy. I’ll open the door in a bit. There are a few zombies inside. You take care of them.” Duke saw Daryl giving the order. Listening to the roars getting closer and closer in the car, he pulled the door open with all his strength, and instantly stretched out his straight knife, stabbing it in the head of the zombie closest to him.
There were four zombies in the car, and Dake and Daryl quickly took care of them.
“Let’s go, you drive and I’ll load the things in the back of the car.” Duke said as he handed the weapons, cigarettes, etc. he found on the zombies to Moore and climbed into the car.
Pulling aside the cloth covering the munitions and looking at the boxes of bullets underneath, Duke climbed up, lay on top of the box, and gave it a big kiss.
“These days!” Daryl was surprised when he saw what was loaded on the car. When he looked at Duke again, there was a strange flash in his eyes. Having such a partner is really a blessing in today’s world.
“Call someone quickly!” Duke smiled with satisfaction as he looked at Daryl.
“Okay,” Moore also stood in front of the car, touched the box, smiled at Duke in an awkward manner, and took out the walkie-talkie to contact Rick and the others.
A group of teammates came and were shocked to see a truck full of ammunition.
“Good job, man, our lives are much better with these.” Rick said to Duke who was leaning against the front of the car and smoking.
“Hey, don’t be obsessed with me. I’m just a legend.” After saying that, he shook his head and posed, shocking his not-so-short hair.
A large wave of crows flew over Rick’s head.
With everyone’s help, a truckload of ammunition was transferred to the convoy.

Chapter 6, Leisure Life (Old Version)
Duke returned to the camp and smiled silly amidst everyone’s envious and respectful looks. For the first time he realized how good it felt to be noticed by others.
“Duke, you’re awesome. I admire you so much.” Carl said excitedly, holding the revolver Rick gave him at his waist.
“Thank you, Carl. The revolver suits you very well. How about we get some game for everyone later?” Duke said to Carl.
He likes this little guy very much. He is smart and brave, and will be a good helper when he grows up.
“How about adding me.” Daryl came up to him with his crossbow on his back.
Duke came to the car loaded with arms, and Dell, who was in charge of logistics, was counting them.
“Dale, I’m keeping it a secret. Is there anything I can use?”
“Du, you came at the right time. There are a lot of things here that you can use. Look, I believe you will like this big thing.” Dale said, pointing to the innermost wooden box.
“Cool, Barrett m82a1. I didn’t expect there was such a good thing.” Duke exclaimed as he looked at the pure black cannon.
(The Barrett M82A1 is a heavy-duty SASR (Special Application Scoped Rifle) developed and produced by the American Barrett Company. The M82 is used by almost all major Western armies, including the US special forces. The US military nicknamed it “Light Fifty” because it uses the large-caliber 12.7 99 NATO (.50 BMG, 12.7 mm) ammunition of the Browning M2 heavy machine gun.)
This gun can kill a zombie at any place. Duke lifted the cannon, revealing rows of bullets in the compartment below, at least thousands of them.
“You can rest now with this light sniper rifle, Mor. It’s yours.” Duke grabbed the AWP behind him and threw it to Mor under the car. Mor used to be a Marine Corps, but later he offended his boss and was fired.
“Thanks, Duke.” He had always been thinking about Duke’s sniper rifle. Who said that this one was the most popular weapon in the whole camp?
“Duke, you’re so awesome.” Although Carl is very young, American kids still know the weight of the gun. Duke lifted it with one hand. It seems that he is the only one who can use this gun without any pressure.
“Let’s go, let’s get some game for everyone.” Duke said to the people behind him while carrying a cannon.
“Are you going to use this gun to hunt game for us? What will be left?” Daryl offered his suggestion from the back.
“Oh, yeah.” Duke was so proud of himself that he completely forgot its power. This weapon could even penetrate a tank.
“Haha, man, don’t worry about the details. Dale, help me keep an eye on her and don’t lose her.” Duke put down his cannon awkwardly.
“Go ahead, I’ll help you keep her under guard.” Dell looked at Duke with a smile.
Duke casually picked up the M4A1, a standard weapon of the US military, from a pile of weapons. Speaking of this gun, anyone who has played CF should know something about it.
Duke and his group walked into the woods behind the mountain. It must be said that the wildlife protection in the United States is really good, which is something that cannot be compared with China.
Soon, Daryl opened up a wild pheasant. As they went deeper into the woods, the density of sunlight gradually decreased.
“Wait, there’s something up ahead.” Daryl stopped and everyone looked in the direction of his finger. Half of a wild boar’s body appeared in the bushes.
“He’s mine. This guy is enough for all of us to eat tonight.” Moore quickly took out the gun he had just got and aimed.
I am the dividing line of kindness——————————————————————
“Mom, we’re back.” As soon as Carl came out of the woods, he saw Lola washing clothes by the water.
“What’s wrong, Carl?” Laura stood up, wiped the water off her hands, and looked up to ask.
“More shot a big wild boar and I shot a pheasant.” Indeed, with Daryl’s help.
That s great.
Several people carried the wild boar to the center of the camp. The people who stayed behind gathered around and hurriedly cleaned up the hunting team’s spoils.
The day passed leisurely. The people in the camp forgot about the zombies outside and ate the hearty lunch they brought back from hunting. Duke, who was basking in the sun on the top of the mountain, had a cigarette in his mouth and crossed his legs. He looked so sloppy and dissolute that he seemed to deserve a beating.
“Carl, you can’t do it like this. I think you should hang under a rock.” Duke looked at Carl, who was learning to shoot with Rick not far away and learning to aim with a gun.
“Darryl, this knife is good enough. Don’t clean it anymore. It won’t work. Why don’t you try it with mine?” Looking at Daryl cleaning the knife, I couldn’t help but want to tease him. I touched the straight knife beside me and smiled.
Duke, who had just become acquainted with Daryl, once bet with Daryl that his knife was definitely not as good as his straight knife. Daryl, who didn’t believe it, thought that his Nepalese knife, which had been forged thousands of times and was known as the best in the world, would not be better than Duke’s gun. The result is predictable, the good knife would be ashamed in front of the straight knife that never wears out.
Daryl ignored him and continued to wipe the Rambo knife he had found with great difficulty.
Duke was so relaxed that he completely forgot about the zombies that were coming to visit him at night. He really forgot. There was nothing he could do. The original show only said one night, and he didn’t know it was tonight.
Chapter 7, The Walking Dead Attacks Camp (Old Version)
The moon quietly hung in the sky, and the sleeping camp was quiet. Only the residents in the surrounding bushes were still busy. In a small forest near the camp, a passerby who was so thin that only a skeleton was left slowly walked towards the camp. He must have not eaten for many days. Behind him, groups of friends appeared one after another.
The quiet camp was unaware of the coming danger.
Duke was lying alone in the RV, dreaming something sweet, his mouth twitching. He seemed to be drooling. Just when he was dreaming that he was about to eat a big, greasy chicken leg, a rancid smell came. Duke suddenly turned over. There was no chicken leg here, it was obviously the god of death.
Bang Bang
“Hurry up, the zombies are coming.” The zombies that had not yet reached the camp were discovered by Duke, who had a keen sense of smell. He then rewarded the two guys in front with an iron peanut each.
The sound of gunfire and shouting awakened the sleeping people, and they all took out their weapons and fought with the zombies that had already arrived. The situation became very serious.
Duke pulled out the straight knife he had always kept beside him and jumped out of the car. The distance was too close and he was afraid of shooting someone by mistake.
Duke was facing a young couple. It was obvious that they must have loved each other when they were alive. Even after becoming zombies, they wanted to hunt together. Unfortunately, they had obviously chosen the wrong target. Duke held up his knife and cut the couple horizontally. The sharp blade entered the husband’s neck and came out from the ribs of the parents and children without any hindrance. The smelly rotten blood mixed with internal organs piled up on the ground.
“Amy, get out of the way.” Andrea looked at Amy in horror. Hearing the sharp call, Duke rushed towards the frightened Amy without stopping, with half of his face left and his mouth full of blood, he went towards Amy’s neck.
How come the fat meat that was about to reach my mouth disappeared? The zombies’ eyes were full of confusion. How did I end up on the ground?
Duke held Amy up with his hands and protected her. It turned out that when he was about to be bitten by a zombie, Duke stepped forward and helped him get rid of it with a knife.
Andrea breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that her sister was fine, then picked up her pistol and started fighting against the zombies rushing towards her.
“Rick, quickly gather everyone together. They’re too scattered.” Duke loudly expressed his opinion to Rick after killing a zombie that came to attack.
The fighters either led one person at a time or fought alone, but there were too many zombies, and slowly everyone was divided into several small groups. After all, human energy was limited, and they could not do anything about the tireless zombies. Not everyone had Duke’s cheating skills, and Duke was the most powerful on the battlefield. He rushed towards the hordes of zombies with a knife, killing them one by one. Seeing people who were still alive during the day being dismembered in front of their eyes, our little people changed their minds. This is not a game, and death is death.
When the head and body of the last zombie were separated, the whole army was wiped out. Everyone in the camp dragged their tired bodies and slowly gathered together, their faces showing the joy of being alive and the sadness. Tonight, many friends and relatives left them.
The sun’s rays slowly eroded the camp on the horizon. The survivors gathered in groups of three or five to calm their restless hearts. It was only about a month and a half after the disaster. Many people had just experienced the fall of the city. Some lucky ones had not come into direct contact with zombies. Last night was their first time, but this time, they took away too many of them. This also exposed a very important problem of Zhige. The zombies could not use guns when close to them, otherwise they would accidentally hurt people. All future settlements could not be near mountains and forests, but must be open or protected by buildings.
Although Duke joined the camp, the camp still suffered heavy casualties. In the original series, more than half of the people were lost. In the end, only the core team centered around Rick was left. The only change was Amy, the lively and lovely girl who was drunk by Duke and avoided premature death. The two sisters are now really snuggling together, and Amy is terrified.
After resting for a while, the survivors started to move. They needed to deal with the dead, dig pits to bury their loved ones, and pile up the killed zombies together to burn them.
On the other side of the crowd, a pale-faced man was helping to carry the corpse.
“You are bleeding, were you bitten by a zombie?” the black woman with him said.
“Taken from the zombies.” Jim said nonchalantly.
“This is blood. You were bitten by a zombie.” The woman said in a nervous and certain tone.
“It’s okay. It was scratched during the fight.” Jim said impatiently.
You ve been bitten
“I’m fine.”
“Then let me see.” The woman stood up and looked at the busy man warily.
“I was bitten, please don’t tell them.” Jim looked around and begged the woman.
“He was bitten by a zombie.”
“He was bitten by a zombie.” The woman left the man and walked towards the crowd in horror.
Let s see
“Let’s take a look!” Everyone came over, while the women and children stepped back.
Panicked, Jim bent down, picked up the shovel on the ground, and faced the crowd that was approaching.
“Put it down, Jim,” Daryl looked at Duke behind him, getting Jim’s attention.
Duke rushed forward and held Jim tightly with his strong arms. Daryl stepped forward and lifted up his shirt, only to see a clear bite mark on his ribs. Everyone dispersed and looked at the bite mark on his waist. I don’t know what to say.
“I’m fine, I’m fine… I’m fine…” Jim muttered to himself.
“I say just hit him on the forehead,” Sean suggested from the side.
“If it were you, would you want this too?” Daryl sneered.
“Yes, I will thank you for this.” Sean replied to Daryl gloomily.
“Jim is not a biting monster or a mad dog. Jim is sick, he is ill, he is a patient, and he can’t stop once he starts. Where is our limit?” Rick scolded the people who were discussing.
“The boundaries are very clear. There must be no zombies, not even quasi-zombies.” Daryl answered with certainty.
“What if we can help him? I heard the CDC is working on a cure.” Rick responded uncertainly.
“Dude, that’s a bit of a stretch,” Sean objected immediately.
“Stop talking, listen to Rick, we can’t just go to the CDC and do nothing. At least there is still hope.” Duke interrupted and confirmed Rick’s opinion.
After deciding on the remaining matters, everyone began to deal with the remaining matters and prepare to move here and go to the CDC.
Chapter 8, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Old Version)
Jim, who was placed in the RV, looked pale and had a high fever.
“Carol, can you get him some water?” Duke said to Carol who was taking care of Jim.
He wanted to get Carol out of the way and he would be the one to send Jim off.
“Can you spare my life?” Jim begged, looking at the expressionless Duke. However, Duke could not hide the abnormality of his body. Duke picked up the basin beside him and handed it to Jim. Jim took it and coughed, and along with the cough came out the black blood that was almost infected.
“Sorry, this is not what we wanted…”
The convoy was traveling on a deserted road. Amy, who was sitting next to Duke, was looking at Duke looking out the window.
“Thank you. DubistmeinHeld.” Amy took German as an elective in college.
“It’s okay, we are all partners, but I didn’t hear what you just said very clearly.” Duke turned his head and looked at Amy who was shy after speaking, and teased. Although Duke didn’t understand what that sentence meant, it didn’t stop him from teasing with women. Besides, Amy was also a very beautiful big foreign horse. This was enough to excite Duke, who had been a virgin for 25 years.
“Dale, what’s wrong?” Rick said on the walkie-talkie when he saw the RV in front stopped.
“The car broke down, I need to find some parts to replace it, it might take a gang.”
“There seems to be something ahead. If we’re lucky, we’ll find a gas station.” Duke, holding a telescope, said to everyone.
“Everyone, Jim’s condition is not good. He may not last long.” Carol, who got off the RV, anxiously asked everyone for help.
(Well, Duke didn t do it.)
“Rick, take care of this side. I’ll go over there and see if I can bring back anything.” Duke said to Rick.
“I’ll stay with you and keep an eye on you. You all stay alert. We’ll be right back. Daryl, you watch this side, and Jim, if… you just…”
I am the dividing line of kindness————-At Jim’s request, I took him to a big tree on the roadside, and he left quietly. ————
The convoy continued on its way, and the RV managed to continue on the road for a while.
The convoy stopped at a place where the road was blocked. The people who got off the car were shocked and speechless when they saw the situation in front of them. The spacious square in the past was now full of trenches piled with sandbags. The bodies of zombies were scattered all over the ground. Soldiers in uniforms all died in the trenches. A group of people walked towards the CDC in front, stepping over the zombies that had been dead for a long time. The whole square was full of flies and mosquitoes. As the crowd passed by, waves of black mosquitoes and flies scattered, and a suffocating stench filled people’s sense of smell.
Dr. Jenner at the CDC saw these unexpected visitors from the center’s surveillance.
“No way.” Dr. Jenner was surprised when he saw the person on the monitoring system.
Duke and his group hurriedly walked among the corpses and soon arrived in front of the roller shutter door of the CDC.
“Why are all the doors here closed?” Rick looked around.
“There are zombies.” Someone in the team said.
A zombie slowly came up from behind the team. It was a guy wearing an army uniform.
Daryl casually sent him home with a crossbow arrow. But behind him, a group of people slowly gathered.
“You’re killing us,” Daryl turned to Rick.
“The decision he made was totally wrong.” A cowardly guy in the team cursed anxiously.
“Shut up, shut up and be quiet,” Duke walked quickly up to the man and pointed at him.
“We need to leave here. It’s getting dark and it’s too close to the city.” Lola nervously suggested to her husband. (After driving for a whole day.)
“Rick, we can go to Fort Benning.” Sean also made a suggestion at this time.
“How do we get there? We have no supplies, no fuel, and it’s still a hundred kilometers away.” Dell, the logistics manager, responded.
“It’s one hundred and twenty miles. I checked the map.” Glenn also showed off his presence at this time.
“Fuck Fort Benning, I just want to know what we should do tonight.” Lola protected Carl and faced her husband, asking him to make a decision.
“Let’s go, quickly, and get out of here.” Duke reminded everyone as he looked at the zombies approaching.
“The camera is moving.” It turned out that Rick, who was unwilling to give up, had been observing the movements nearby.
Obviously no one believed it. But he did move it. Because our Dr. Jenner was using it.
“Please help us, we have women and children, we have no food, and we are running out of gas.” Rick shouted at the camera desperately.
“Rick, there’s no one inside and we have nowhere to go.” Lola wanted to stop her husband from doing this.
Duke didn’t say anything. He took Daryl, Moore and Glenn to stop the zombies in front and gave everyone enough time. He knew that Dr. Jenner from the CDC would open the door.
“You’re killing us by not letting us in.”
Please help us.
“You are trying to kill us. You can’t just stand by and watch us die.”
Dr. Jenner watched the video with an expression of pity, and no one knew what he was thinking.
“You are trying to kill us.” Rick, who was pulled away by Sean, shouted angrily at the camera.
Rick gave up and turned to leave. After taking a few steps, the door opened, and a bright light shone from the door into the crowd, and everyone was stunned.
“Hurry, hurry, go in, everyone, hurry in,” Rick reacted and called everyone.

Chapter 11, Highway Attack (Old Version)
What came into view was a chaotic group of abandoned cars, blocking an entire section of the highway. The convoy slowly drove in, trying to find a way out.
The convoy stopped in the middle of the road, and Dale’s RV completely broke down.
“Any questions, Dell…” This ignorant question was obviously from Glenn who had not yet recovered from his shock.
“Nothing, just being stranded in the middle of nowhere.”
“Hey, Carl, look what I found.” It turned out that Dwayne found a PSP in the car next to him and was showing off to his friends.
“Be careful and stay safe.” Morgan reminded his son not to take it lightly.
“You can find a lot of things here. You can also put some gasoline in the tank, or some water or food.” Dale looked at the cars in this area.
“This is a cemetery.” Amy held Duke’s hand tightly.
“Everyone, look around quickly and get some useful things. We can’t stay here any longer.” Duke patted Amy gently and urged his teammates.
“Amy, you, Lola, and your sister go find some clothes.” Duke climbed onto the roof of the car and alerted his teammates who were searching.
“Is there anything going on?” asked Dell, who was standing below.
“Not at the moment.” At this time, there was a highway going uphill on the mountainside. The top of the slope was not far ahead, and Duke could not see what was behind the slope at the moment.
The teammates had a clear division of labor. There were at least two people working together to collect food, gasoline, clothes, etc., to look after each other.
Duke held the cannon and stared at the sniper scope in front of him, looking around.
A small black dot seemed to appear in the distance, swaying.
Duke looked in that direction again, unsure.
Indeed, a zombie with its head tilted slowly emerged from behind a car at the top of the slope ahead.
Duke looked, pulled the bolt, aimed again, and prepared to shoot.
Wait, there’s another one behind him. Duke hesitated. This was unusual. Zombies usually don’t act alone. They usually come in groups, ranging from a few hundred to thousands or tens of thousands. Otherwise, how could they break through the army’s blockade? They rely on numbers.
Then, forty or fifty zombies suddenly emerged from behind them, and more zombies continued to appear behind them.
Duke couldn’t shoot. If he did, he would have to fight the zombies, and they had too few people to handle so many.
“Oh my God.” Looking at the thousands of zombies rushing towards the team like a tide from the mountainside.
“Hurry, hide, there are zombies.”
After hearing Duke’s voice, the teammates all saw the incoming tide of zombies.
“Get under the car quickly and don’t make any noise,”
“Amy, get under the car,” Duke shouted to the people in the team while running towards Amy. He looked at Amy who hadn’t reacted yet.
He was afraid that the zombies would hurt Amy, and he said he would protect her.
The zombies won’t tell them to hide first, here we come.
“Carl, Sophia, get down quickly.” Duke whispered anxiously to the two little guys not far away.
Duke pulled Amy and Carl under a car, but Sofia ran in the wrong direction and could only hide under the car diagonally in front of them.
Sean has not yet lost his IQ due to love. When he found the zombies, he pulled Glenn, who was standing in front of the car and didn’t understand the situation, and hid under the car.
The zombies walked slowly past them, and everyone’s heart stopped beating temporarily, and they broke out in a cold sweat.
Duke pulled Carl, who was leaning against the edge of the car, between Amy and him, and at the same time he made a silent gesture to Sofia.
Sophia was so scared, she was alone under the car and she was almost crying.
Looking at the streets that had returned to quiet, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Seeing that there were no zombies on the street, Sophia wanted to crawl out from under the car, but the zombies behind her found her. The zombies crouched down and rushed towards Sophia. Sophia was terrified and quickly ran to the other side of the car and rushed into the woods beside the road.
Duke quickly stood up and rushed towards Sophia. Sophia and the zombies behind her entered the woods and lost their tracks. Duke chased in the direction of the swaying branches in the distance. Duke was chasing very fast.
Soon, he saw zombies chasing people in front. Duke pounced on one of the zombies and stabbed him with his backhand.
A figure rushed past and ran forward. It was Rick, he caught up. Duke dealt with a zombie and quickly got drunk.
When Duke caught up with Rick, Rick was hitting the zombie with a stone.
“Where’s Sophia?” Duke asked Rick, who was panting.
“I asked her to wait for me by the water ahead.” Rick replied, throwing away the stone in his hand.
“Okay, let’s go find her.”
“Are you sure you are here?” Duke looked where Rick pointed, but there was no one inside.
“I left her here and led the zombies upstream along the creek.” Daryl and the others also came. Rick explained to everyone.
“I told her to walk back down the road to the highway, with the sun on her left shoulder.”
“She did as you said and went to the road. There are clear footprints here.” Daryl pointed at Sophia’s footprints on the shore. He is indeed a tracking expert.
“Let’s spread out and go back the way we came. She may not be far away.” Rick gave orders to the pursuers.
The group walked out of the woods and came to a small meadow, but there was no trace of Sophia.
“Okay, let’s split up. Rick, you and I will continue to follow Daryl, and the others will go back to the highway first. Don’t let them have any wild thoughts.”
Duke said to the people who were about to go back.
“Keep them busy. I’ll let them rummage through the drawers and won’t give them time to think about anything else.” Sean looked at Duke.
Daryl bent over and searched for clues on the ground, while Duke and Rick stood guard nearby.
“Get down, something’s happening.” Duke whispered.
The three of them crouched and moved forward. Not far ahead, down the slope, there was a zombie who couldn’t find his way home. He was lost. He hadn’t realized the danger yet.
“He’s lost. I think he must want to find the way home. Okay, I’ll take him home.” Duke padded his sword and walked quietly behind the zombie. He slashed down on the top of the head with the knife, completely separating them.
“Can you be more disgusting?” Rick was dissatisfied with the effect Duke caused.
“What are you looking for?” Watching Daryl take out a knife and slash the zombies’ bodies.
“He just ate,” Daryl replied to Duke.
“You can see that too, oh, Sophia.” Duke and Rick looked at each other, staring at Daryl’s movements anxiously.
“It looks like this bastard had a big meal.” He said to the two men after he had just fished out his stomach from the zombie’s stomach.
“This disgusting guy had groundhog for lunch.” Daryl took a knife and cut open the zombie’s stomach and saw the food left in the stomach.
“At least we’ve figured it out, right? Let’s go and keep looking.” Rick said towards the woods ahead.
As night fell, the sun set at the foot of the mountain.
Carol paced back and forth at the spot on the highway where Sofia had entered the woods, concerned for her daughter’s comfort.
Despite Duke’s addition, they still didn’t find Sophia. The original drama didn’t explain where Sophia went. She was only found in Hershel’s barn later, but she had already turned into a zombie.
Chapter 12, Rescue Sophia at Night (Old Version)
“Didn’t you find her?” Carol was so anxious that she was about to cry when she saw the people coming back.
“Her traces have disappeared. We’ll look for her tomorrow morning,” Rick explained to Carol.
“Don’t leave my daughter out there, don’t leave her alone in the woods. She’s only twelve years old and can’t spend the night out there alone,” Carol begged.
“I know you are anxious, but don’t panic. We know she is in there. We have been looking for her for a long time. Daryl is most familiar with the woods, so I will leave this matter to him.” Rick explained to the crowd that gathered around him.
“Is that blood?” Carol saw the blood on Daryl’s body.
“Let’s kill a zombie.” Rick explained to Carol.
“There are zombies, oh my god.” Carol said in disbelief. She was even more panicked.
“He didn’t touch Sophia,” Rick explained to Carol.
How do you know?
“We’ve gutted it and confirmed it.” Daryl explained to the distraught Carol.
“Oh my God…” Carol leaned weakly on the front of the car.
Amy came to Duke, took her hand and asked, “Can’t you think of a solution? Carol is very pitiful. She only has Sophia left. Please.”
Several women surrounded Carol and silently comforted her.
“My daughter, you can’t leave her outside alone.” Carol was still crying softly.
“She’s still a child. She’s still a child.”
Duke pulled Rick aside to discuss with Daryl.
“Rick, Daryl and I are going to go look for Sophia later. You stay here and keep in touch.” Duke really didn’t want anything to happen to anyone. Although he had only taken care of them for a few days, he loved Sophia, this cute little girl, and the few little kids.
“Okay, prepare some more things and bring more ammunition. We’ll be waiting for you here.”
Duke and Daryl are fully prepared and head into the woods again.
It was already dark, and Duke and Daryl came to the place where they last lost trace of Sofia.
“What should we do next?” Duke asked Daryl, who had never learned jungle tracking.
“We will search along this path, and if there are no traces of them, we will change direction.”
I walked forward about a kilometer in the moonlight.
“There’s something going on ahead,” the sharp-eyed Duke saw a tent in the woods ahead.
“Hush, let’s get closer slowly.”
Gently.
Daryl slowly opened the tent and saw a figure sitting on a chair in the faint moonlight.
A man who had been dead for a long time was leaning against a chair.
“Suicide.” Daryl picked up the gun from the dead body.
“Ah…ah…” A sharp child’s voice echoed through the woods.
“Sophia, hurry, it’s ahead.” The two of them ran towards the direction where the sound came from.
There is a meadow outside the woods, and the one near the woods is a cemetery. Not far ahead is a church.
The sound came from the church.
Duke rushed to the front. The door of the church was open. There was no one inside, but there was a little bear on the ground. He recognized it. It was Sofia’s.
“It’s her, Daryl, where did she go?” Duke asked Daryl nervously.
In the light of the lamp, Daryl looked at the ground and pointed far out into the woods.
She went in.
“She’s in danger over there.” After saying that, he rushed over there.
The sharp-eyed Duke could see figures running in front of him; they were zombies.
“Darryl, hurry, there are zombies, they are chasing someone, probably Sofia.”
The woods were pitch black at night, and the strong spotlight illuminated an area, and four zombies could be clearly seen chasing after Sophia.
“Sophia, Sophia.” Duke shouted to Sophia from behind.
Daryl, who had caught up, killed a zombie with a crossbow arrow. His shouting attracted the pursuing zombies, and they all stopped and attacked Duke.
“Bi…Bi.” Two crossbow arrows shot out from behind, and in the blink of an eye, only one was left.
“Daryl, you go find Sophia, leave him to me.”
After killing the zombie, Daryl brought Sofia to Duke.
“Sophia, it’s okay.” Duke looked at Daryl and asked him about Sophia’s condition.
“I’m fine. I’m healthy.”
“Sophia, let me take you back. Your mother misses you very much.” Duke looked at Sophia who was holding Daryl. She was really scared.
“Rick, did you hear that? We found Sophia. She’s fine. She’s doing fine.”
“Thank God, my Sophia,” Carolla responded, holding Rick’s walkie-talkie.
She was too worried and kept keeping an eye on the news.
“It’s too late. We will rest in a nearby church for one night and return to the camp tomorrow.” Duke said to Carolla on the other end of the walkie-talkie.
“Don’t worry, I will take good care of Sofia.”
Daryl led Lu to the church where the zombies had been killed and the doors and windows were closed. The three of them rested here.
Chapter 13, Carl is shot (old version)
Oh my God, Sophia.
Seeing his daughter Carola following behind Duke was very exciting.
“Mom.” The mother and daughter hugged each other, enjoying the rare moment of surviving the disaster.
“Honey, thank you, thank you for saving Sophia.” Amy looked at her lover and hugged him excitedly.
“Thank me, how can you thank me?” Duke whispered close to Amy’s ear.
“Let’s talk about it tonight.” Amy shyly broke away from Duke’s embrace and ran towards her sister Andrea.
______________________________________________________________
Everyone took their daily necessities and equipment and headed to the church where the three of them stayed last night, which was a good temporary place to stay.
The group quickly arrived at the church. Everyone was in a good mood. The shackles that weighed on everyone’s hearts disappeared without a trace as Sophia returned safely.
Duke and Amy came to the crucifix. Amy was a devout Christian and wanted to bring her beloved man to pray to God. Although Duke was a Chinese and did not believe in religion, there was nothing he could do about it, because he had such a girlfriend.
On the other side, Sean and Rick took Carl to the woods behind the church.
In the woods they found a deer leisurely eating grass. It was the first time Carl saw a deer. Before the disaster, he lived in a town and had no chance to see a deer.
He was very excited. He turned his head to look at his father and Sean, and slowly approached the deer under their encouraging eyes. He seemed very happy and excited, with a smile all over his little face.
The deer that was grazing seemed to sense something and raised its head to look around. Carl and the deer were looking at the same line of sight.
“Bang…”
With a gunshot, a bullet penetrated the side of the deer and hit Carl’s body. Carl was knocked to the ground by the impact of the bullet and fell unconscious.
“No, no, no…no…no…” Rick reacted and ran towards Carl who was lying on the ground. Sean was standing guard in front with a gun.
A fat figure emerged from the woods and ran towards me, bewildered.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it. Come on, go find Hershel, he can save your son.”
Rick picked up Carl and ran in the direction the fat man pointed.
“Run, you idiot.” Sean really couldn’t stand the fat man following him.
On an open grassland, Rick held Carl and ran forward with all his might.
“Take us over there quickly, how far is it, how far is it?” Rick turned around and shouted to the fat man.
That direction is still half a mile away.” The fat man pointed in a direction ahead.
“I’m sorry.” The fat man couldn’t hold on any longer.
“Let’s go, quickly.” Sean helped the fat man up.
At the door of an American-style villa far at the end of the grassland, a woman discovered Rick and his son running.
Dad, the woman called toward the house.
Following the woman’s shout, five or six people rushed out of the house, led by an old man with a typical American Western gentleman style. This man was most likely Hershel.
“Was he bitten?” Hershel looked at Rick who ran to the front of the house holding Carl.
“Shot. One of your men did it.”
“Otis, he asked me to find Hershel.” Rick said to the old man who came over. So your fat man is called Otis.
“Are you Hershel?” looking at the old man walking over.
“Help me, save my son.” Rick pleaded with Hershel.
“Carry him in, come in quickly.” Hershel turned and said to Rick and the people who followed him out.
“Patricia, bring the full set of tools.” Hershel said as he entered the door.
“Maggie.” Hershel said to the woman who was standing guard at the door.
“I am here.”
“Bring all the painkillers and coagulants. Put the clean towels, sheets, and alcohol here.” Hershel arranged them skillfully.
“Is he still alive?” Rick asked weakly and hesitantly.
“There’s still a heartbeat, but it’s very weak.” Hershel answered him.
“You go out first, let us help, we need a place,” said Maggie, looking at the people in the room.
“What’s your name?”
Rick, I m Rick.
“Rick, we’ll do the best we can, okay? You have to give us some space.”
Rick came out of the room and looked out the window and saw Otis still running towards the house. Rick came to the door and sat down on the stairs in front of it.
“Is he still alive?” Otis asked Rick anxiously.
Sean looked at Duke’s face covered in blood and took out a towel from his bag to wipe it for him.
“Hey man, it’s alright, where is he?”
Rick brought them to the rescue room and watched Hershel and others busy inside.
“Do you know his blood type?” Hershel asked Rick who came in.
“Type A positive, like me.” Rick replied.
“That’s lucky. Don’t go too far. We’ll need you later.”
“What’s going on?” This is what Hershel asked Otis.
“I was hunting deer and the bullet went through the deer and hit him.” Otis was panicked.
“Luckily, the deer slowed down the bullet and saved his life.”
———————————-who I am?.——————————————-
At the church far away, Laura suddenly looked into the distance. She couldn’t help feeling panic in her heart, as if something had happened.
Digua has to go back to his hometown today. There is no internet there, so the update will be two days late. But Digua will keep typing and upload it all to you after he comes back.
Chapter 14, Carl is rescued (old version)
Are you still worried? Andrea followed.
“There was a gunshot.”
“We all heard it.” The people who gathered around responded.
“Why just one sound? Why only one shot?”
“Maybe they killed a zombie.” Daryl also comforted Lola.
“Don’t give me the cold shoulder.”
“You know full well Rick and Sean would never risk firing a gun to take down a walker. They would kill him without making a sound.”
“Why don’t we go look for them?” Glenn suggested from the side.
“There’s nothing we can do. We can’t just wander around in the woods listening to the echoes,” Daryl refused.
Then what shall we do?
“Stay where you are and do what you need to do.” At this time, Amy and Duke came out from the church after praying.
Now that Rick and the others are gone, Duke is the only one on the team who can make such a decision, and no one else will have any objections.
Looking at Lola, she was rubbing her hands and wandering around anxiously, her eyes fixed on the exit of the woods ahead.
“Okay, let’s wait for the other group. If they don’t come back, we’ll go to the RV and wait for them.” Duke couldn’t bear to watch.
After saying that, Duke turned around and went back. Duke knew that Karl Shi had been shot, but fortunately she was okay.
“Rick.” Maggie ran out and called out to Sean, who was sitting there and blaming himself.
He needs a blood transfusion.
Because there was no painkiller, Carl fainted when the bullet was taken out of his body.
“Stop, you’ll kill him.” Rick shouted angrily.
“Rick, do you want him to survive?”
“Go get a blood transfusion.”
“The blood pressure is stable.” Hershel said with relief to Rick who was still receiving a blood transfusion.
“Lola had to come here. She didn’t know what happened.” Rick said to Sean as he looked at Carl who was out of danger.
“I’ll go find her and bring her back.” Sean said tiredly, leaning against the cabinet beside the bed.
“You can’t go, you watch him, Maggie, you go.” Hershel said to the tired and helpless Sean.
“Although he is out of danger, the bullet passed through his body and cut his blood vessels. I have to perform a suture operation on him and find the bleeding point. During this process, he cannot move and must remain motionless, so I need to put him in anesthesia and make him unconscious. So you need to find a respirator and other medical supplies. The nearest hospital is at the high school in town, which has these things.” Hershel explained to Rick.
“The last time I saw it, the place was already occupied by zombies and there was no way to get close. Maybe it’s better now,” Otis warned.
“I told you, leave the rest to me.” Sean, who had been sitting silently, spoke up. It was obvious that he liked Carl very much, probably because he loved Carl.
“I don’t want you to go alone.”
“Okay, doctor, give me a list and a map.”
“No need for a map, I’ll take you there.” Otis’s sincere act of rescue.
“Wait, Maggie? Go find my wife, Lola, first, and bring Duke over. Let Duke go with them. It’s safer this way.” Rick looked at Sean. If there was anyone Rick trusted the most, it would definitely be Duke.
Maggie turned around and went out, got on a horse tied in front of the door, and ran towards the road where the convoy was. (People who live nearby must know where there are big traffic jams. If you don t have this sense of crisis, you d better die.)
A common American Quarter horse was running with Maggie on a path beside the road. Everyone who came to the road camp was looking at the knight who was getting closer and closer.
“Lola, who is Lola?” Maggie asked as she walked up to him.
“I am, I am Lola.”
“Rick asked me to come here. You have to come with me right away. Oh, and Duke too.”
“What?”
“There was an accident. Carl was shot. You must come with me now, and Duke too. Rick needs you. The rest of you go back to Fairburn Road. Our farm is two miles away.”
“Lola, get in the car with me. Amy and Andrea, come along. You all have studied physical therapy.” Since Rick specifically asked him to go, the situation must be very urgent.
Duke picked up his weapon and ran to drive his explosion-proof car. He didn’t even look back, put the car in gear, stepped on the accelerator, and rushed down the hill from the blocked lane. He followed the knight Maggie.
“It’s okay, Lola. Didn’t that girl say that Karlme was in danger?” Andrea and Amy comforted Lola.
Following Maggie’s lead, they cut through the woods and soon arrived at Maggie’s farm.
Rick and Hershel stood outside the room, looking at the lush green grassland in front of them. At the intersection at the end of the grassland, a galloping horse appeared, followed closely by an explosion-proof car.
“They are coming.” Rick said to Hershel excitedly. He was sure that Carl was saved.
Before the car stopped in front of the door, Laura rushed down, looked at her husband’s sad face, and hugged each other.
Andrea and Amy got out of the car with their belongings. They were there to help.
Sean simply brought Otis to the car, opened the door and got in.
“I’m so sorry,” Otis cried in distress.
“Stop talking nonsense and lead the way,” Sean scolded.
The explosion-proof vehicle, which had not been completely shut down, started again and drove in the direction Otis pointed.
“Sean, what happened? How did Carl get shot?” Duke asked Sean anxiously. Although Duke knew the situation, it was based on watching TV. Now he lives with these teammates, and he can no longer just watch the show when something happens.
“I was deer hunting and he was behind the deer and I really didn’t see him,” Otis explained to Duke before Sean could speak.
Chapter 15, Hospital Terror (Old Version)
Duke drove the car some distance away from the hospital, and the three of them tiptoed slowly towards the hospital.
The small square in front of the hospitals was filled with messy cars, including several Hummer armored vehicles and a small helicopter.
Listening to the horrific screams of the zombies ahead, the three of them slowly approached by leaning against a car on the side of the road.
The three decided to get in as soon as possible, otherwise Carl would be in trouble if it was too late.
Using the car as cover, the three of them slowly moved towards the door, but there were too many zombies in front of the door.
“I’ll go and lure the zombies away. You two, when you see the opportunity, go in. I’ll follow.” Duke gave the two instructions.
“Okay, no problem.”
Duke came to the other side of the square and copied Sean’s trick in the original drama. He pushed a car and slowly slid it outside. There was a small dirt slope not far in front of the small square. The car slid over the slope, rushed down and loaded onto a car below, and a shrill alarm sounded.
Duke watched as the zombies were attracted to one side by the sound of the car, and hurriedly chased after the two men who had just entered.
The three of them hurriedly collected all the items on the list in the hospital’s medical room, then ran outside with the items on their backs. The car alarm would not attract the zombies for long, and as long as they didn’t meet any living people, they would generally not leave their permanent residence.
Maybe it was because the noise was too loud, or maybe the zombies were particularly interested in the ringing car, anyway, they filled the small square.
Otis opened the door and was dumbfounded when he saw the zombies turning around to face him. Anyone who was stared at by thousands of zombies would be scared from the bottom of their hearts.
“Damn it, run.” Sean pushed and pulled Otis.
“Hurry up, I’ll cut off the road.” Duke said.
The three of them started running towards the path next to them. It was rare for the zombies to see a living person, and even if they did see one, they might not be able to taste it. There were too many of them, and they were very greedy.
Otis’s fat body seemed unusually cumbersome at this moment.
“Otis, hurry up, they’re too close.” Duke was already fighting with the zombies in the back. I don’t know where Duke found a bullet-proof shield. He held up the zombies’ claws with one hand and fought back with the other. He made a smooth cut along the edge of the bullet-proof shield. The zombies who reached out their hands were about to cry. The zombies without hands would lose half of their fighting power. Fortunately, this alley could only allow two people to walk side by side.
Watching Otis disappear around the bend, Duke cut the zombie in front with a knife and turned around to run back.
As soon as Duke rushed around the corner, a zombie rushed over from the opposite side. Duke was quick to reach out with his shield to block it, which scared Duke into a cold sweat. If it weren t for the shield, he might have been bitten. (Don t worry, I ll tell you a secret. In fact, the bottle of water given by the great god can not only replenish physical strength and energy, but also detoxify. The zombie virus is also a kind of poison, so we Duke call it the water of life.”
Duke dodged the zombie and his heart skipped a beat. Could it be that the plot couldn’t be changed? Now Duke was separated from the other two and he didn’t know where they had gone. Fortunately, Duke was a combat-oriented person and they took all the potions and other items.
The road ahead was also blocked by zombies, and Duke was helpless.
“Bang, snap, bang” two shots shattered the two glass windows behind him. Duke jumped up.
“Damn it, they’re back again.” It turned out that the glass house was the room where they had just looted medical supplies.
Duke ran along the corridor, and the zombies followed him relentlessly. It was impossible to leave the hospital now, as the zombies had surrounded the entire hospital. Duke could only run to the roof. Running all the way, Duke reached the roof, grabbed the security door on the roof, threw a grenade at the zombies on the stairs behind him, and bolted the security door.
“Bang…” There was a loud noise.
Duke lay against the wall, gasping for breath. He drank a sip of the water of life and felt a force slowly emerging from his body, dispelling his fatigue.
“The stairs must be broken. It was so thrilling just now that I almost lost sight of my Amy.” Well, Duke started to have wild thoughts even though he was not out of danger yet.
In fact, Duke is a single person, as long as he is given a safe position and has enough weapons and ammunition, he can be said to be a non-stop fighting machine. Just like when we fight TATO, as long as he is not dead, even if there is only one drop of blood left, he can stand in the blood pool and the whole group will be full of energy and resurrected with full blood.
Unfortunately, our Duke only brought a combat knife, an M4A1, three magazines, and about 200 bullets in his bag, which was obviously not enough to deal with the thousands of zombies downstairs.
The hospital was pitch black at night. The zombies downstairs surrounded the building and made terrifying roars. People with poor mental quality would probably collapse. However, our Duke was leaning against a corner on the roof and sleeping soundly, curled up. He was really calm.
Duke’s idea is that if you don’t keep your spirits up, how can you fight the zombies? Well, you have a blood pool, so what are you afraid of? It doesn’t matter even if you don’t sleep for ten days or half a month.
The confused Duke felt it was a bit dazzling. He frowned in dissatisfaction, and when he opened his eyes, he saw the sun at the horizontal level above his head.
“It’s dawn. Uh… I wonder if Sean and Otis have gone out yet, and whether Sean asked Otis to cover him.” Duke stretched and muttered to himself.
“There were zombies at every turn. We were out of ammunition and only had ten bullets. Duke was covering our retreat, but the zombies behind us surrounded us and we got separated from him. I injured my foot while running away, and then he said he would cover me and told me to go first, so I did it. I just…” Sean Zhen returned to the house and told Rick, Hershel and his family what had happened.
“God…” Everyone was silent.
“Duke, he…how is he?” Amy asked Sean with a sad face.
“He, I don’t know. Otis and I were in the front, and Duke was covering us. Then he disappeared when we turned a corner. The last time I saw him, zombies kept jumping on him.” Sean told Amy what happened.
This is indeed what Sean saw, but what he didn’t see was the shield in Duke’s hand and what happened later. Obviously, he used Otis as a living shield.
Sean returned to the room arranged by Hershel and recalled the last time Otis was chased by zombies. Sean, who was running out of bullets, brutally beat Otis to the ground. After that, the two of them tore the medical bag on Otis’ body, causing a piece of Sean’s hair to be torn off. Sean was crazy and wanted to eliminate the evidence.
Get out your razor and remove all the hair.

Duke is still on the roof of the hospital. Please stay tuned for more details.
Chapter 16, Escape from the Hospital (Old Version)
“It’s really boring, nothing to do, can there be something new besides these disgusting rotten faces?” Duke, lying on the guardrail, muttered to himself to the zombies below. He was also free enough, with no worries at all. Fortunately, there were no mutant zombies in this world, otherwise, with his lack of ambition, he would have turned into a pile of shit long ago.
“The walkie-talkie is still in the car. The gang should have arrived at the farm.”
“Hey, what is that?” Duke discovered that there was a small radio station on the small plane, which meant there was always a way out.
Duke quickly opened his bag and took out the climbing rope that was placed inside. It turned out that Duke had been prepared for fear of being trapped at a high place like this. As long as Duke went down and got the radio and notified Rick and the others, and with the help of inside and outside forces, there would be no problem in escaping.
Duke had to make preparations first to attract the zombies nearby. Fortunately, this small town hospital was not tall, with only four floors. If it was like in big cities with more than ten or twenty floors, it would be really fatal.
Duke came to the other side. He wanted to make some noise here so that it would be easier for him to run and get the radio.
“Bang… Bang… Bang…” One by one, they were shot in the head by Duke’s precise shooting. The zombies didn’t move to analyze the situation. After hearing the noise, they all gathered under the wall where Duke shot.
It was so crowded that there was no place to stand. Duke took out a grenade from his bag and threw it into the crowd. A group of zombies were directly knocked down, revealing an open space. In a few seconds, it was occupied by the zombies that swarmed over.
With this movement, Duke began to move, grabbing the rope that had been tied and sliding down like a flying tiger. He fell to the ground and rolled to release the remaining strength, then got up and ran towards the radio station at full speed. The zombies on the road saw that this guy dared to come down, and rushed towards Duke. The nearest zombie was beheaded by Duke before he could come to his senses. Duke ran very fast, and before he could surround him, he had already put the radio into his backpack, turned around and went around the side to return to the place where he just came down. In a few seconds, he jumped and jumped up the stairs, seemingly very easily.
“I’m so tired.” He took out the blood bottle and blew into it. It seemed that Duke was very relaxed going up and down the stairs, but in fact, in just a few minutes, Duke used up all his strength. If it were an ordinary person, he would have collapsed from exhaustion long ago.
Duke took out his radio and tuned it to the team’s dedicated channel.
“Rick, Rick, Daryl, I hear back, this is Duke.”
“Rick, Daryl, can you hear me?”
“Anyone hear me, this is Duke.”
“Anyone hear me? Amy. This is Duke, if you hear me please reply.” Duke held the radio and sent several messages in succession.
At the farm, Hershel told Rick the good news early in the morning that Carl was saved. Rick quickly told everyone the good news, which made everyone feel much better.
Hershel’s family and all the team members held a simple memorial service for Otis on the side of Hershel’s farm. It was obviously a burial for Otis.
Sizzle Sizzle Sizzle
A voice came out of Rick’s intercom. “I’m sorry.” Rick walked away.
It is very disrespectful to have such a commotion at someone else’s funeral.
Rick turned on the intercom.
“Anyone hear me? Amy. This is Duke. If you hear me, please reply.”
Then Duke’s voice was heard from inside. Everyone present heard it.
“God, he’s still alive.”
“It’s Duke, it’s Duke’s voice.” Amy ran to Rick, grabbed the intercom and responded: “Duke, is that you, where are you?”
Duke was fiddling with the radio when he suddenly heard Amy’s voice. He knew he had finally gotten through.
“Amy, it’s me, Duke, I love you.”
“Duke, I was scared to death. Are you okay? Where are you?” Amy choked with tears in her eyes.
“Okay, Amy, I’m fine. I’m on the roof of the hospital where I was yesterday. I need a car or I can’t outrun these guys.”
“Okay, Duke, stay safe over there, we’ll be here to pick you up soon.” Rick said into the intercom.
“Okay, another good news. Duke is still alive. He stayed on the roof of the hospital. We need to go and pick him up. Sean, you have been there, so you lead the way. Daryl, Morgan, and Glenn, you drive a car. Daryl, you drive the modified car.” Daryl found two huge steel plates in the camp and made a pointed nose for a truck, which was very useful for clearing the way.
Daryl drove his Doomsday Chariot to lead the way, followed by Duke’s armored vehicle, heading towards where Duke was.
“There’s a small square in front of the hospital. That’s the place he has to pass through if he wants to escape. That place has been occupied by zombies.” Sean helped analyze the situation.
“We need to draw them out so Duke can get out.”
“Daryl, you guys drive them away, we’ll go pick up Duke.”
“Zizi… Duke, we heard the reply and are ready to come over.” Rick took the walkie-talkie and said.
“Okay, I’m ready.” Duke was fully armed.
“Okay, GO…GO…” Daryl drove the car and rushed towards the group of zombies. After a beautiful drift, he accelerated in the other direction to attract the zombies away.
Looking at the zombies being attracted away, the few people who stayed there quickly entered combat status and killed their way towards Duke.
Our Duke showed his skilled technique of going downstairs again, moving smoothly from top to bottom. Before a zombie below could notice him, he was cut in half by Duke from top to bottom. He landed on the ground and rolled over to escape the encirclement of several zombies and meet up with several people who came to rescue him. After that, Duke held a shield in one hand and a machete in the other, and looked like a bloodthirsty warrior in ancient times.
In order not to attract more zombies, all they had to do was kill silently. Led by Duke, the group quickly arrived at the explosion-proof vehicle and got in at random to escape from the zombies behind.
Chapter 17, The Barn Walker (Old Version)
“Thanks, guys.” Duke thanked his teammates in the car as soon as he got in.
“We’re teammates, aren’t we?” Rick replied with a smile.
Haha..haha Everyone laughed knowingly.
“Well, Sean, how did you guys do that day?” Duke wanted to ask Sean for confirmation because he saw that Sean still shaved his head. It seems that the original drama is likely to have happened.
“Austi, he, he went to cover our retreat in order to let me go first, and then… when I turned around to look at him, those bastards surrounded him…” Sean made up his excuse with a guilty conscience.
“Sorry, it’s my fault for not catching up.” Duke was still a little annoyed and didn’t keep up. It seemed that Sean had begun to change. Duke had read the plot and knew that killing Otis was the beginning of Sean’s transformation. Before this incident, he was just a poor emotional loser. It was Laura’s pregnancy that led to his misery.
“Rick, how’s Carl?”
“It’s stable now. Thanks to you guys, he’s safe now.”
“Why are you saying that? We are one team, why are we divided like this? Right?” Duke teased everyone.
No matter who has an accident, we will help each other and rely on each other.
“Amy, I miss you so much.” Duke looked towards Amy as soon as he got out of the car.
“I was so scared, I thought you…”
“It’s okay. Am I that bad? Even if there were a thousand or eight hundred of those guys, I would kill them all with my sword.” Looking at the boastful Duke, Amy smiled.
“Only you can.”
“That’s right, don’t you see whose husband I am?”
“Tsk, I don’t want to bother with you.” Amy couldn’t stand Duke’s teasing and went back to the house shyly.
Rick took Duke to meet Hershel’s family.
Duke came to Carl’s ward and saw that Carl was still in a coma.
The next morning, Duke got up from the bed and smiled happily at Amy, who was curled up in a ball. They had met again after yesterday’s disaster, so it was inevitable that they had done it a little too much, for a little longer, and more often.
“Hey, Glenn, what are you doing?” Looking at Rick, Glenn and Maggie discussing something in front of the car.
“We need to go to the nearby town to get some of Carl’s medical supplies,” Glenn explained to Duke.
“You’re not going to take me with you? Who are you going with?”
“Maggie and I will go, and she will lead the way. You just came back, so have a good rest. Maggie said there is no danger in the town.” Duke’s mind immediately started working after hearing Glenn’s words. Oh my God, he can’t go with her. What if he ruins Glenn’s plan?
“Okay, I’ll just walk around. I’ll feel uncomfortable if I don’t move for a day.” After saying that, he ran along the farm.
After warming up his lower body, Duke came to an open space and began to practice his basic swordsmanship. Speaking of this swordsmanship, he felt that the great god had given him a magic weapon, and it would be a waste if he didn’t know how to use it, so he compiled a set of basic swordsmanship based on the novels and movies he had read before. It was called swordsmanship, but there were only a few moves, horizontal cutting, vertical chopping, and backhand chopping, back and forth, just a few moves. Duke even shamelessly defended it by saying that one can become a god if he practices the basics well.
Duke had a rare leisurely day at Hershel’s farm. He exercised in the morning and tried the feeling of being a knight in the afternoon. But it is conceivable how difficult it was for Duke, who had never ridden a horse, to ride for the first time. As a result, Duke never had the intention of being a knight again.
When Glenn and Maggie came back that afternoon, everyone could see that something had happened between them, but they were still secretly having an affair, which made Duke laugh secretly.
Early the next morning, Glenn looked at the barn uneasily and then showed his courtesy to Laura. People who didn’t know him might think he was pursuing Laura, which made Maggie, who was paying attention to him, very angry.
Duke, Rick, Sean, and Daryl were leaning against the front of the car, discussing how to guard the area and go out in pairs to kill the zombies nearby. They wanted to make this a stable place to live.
Glenn came up uncomfortably with a box of fruit and distributed the fruit to no one.
“Thanks.”
Seeing Glenn still hesitating after distributing the fruits, several people were very confused.
“What’s up?” Duke asked.
“I know this, but… another person also knows it… but…”
“Glenn, we are all men. Can you please stop hesitating and just speak quickly?” Duke couldn’t stand Glenn’s behavior.
“It’s okay. Maggie and I are fine now. I hope you can bless us.” Glenn said hesitantly.
“That’s it. Okay, everyone will bless you.” Rick persuaded Glenn. He thought Glenn did this because he was afraid of being disapproved by everyone.
In the next few days, some things happened on the farm. Rick found out that Laura was pregnant, and everyone knew that there were zombies in the barn. Of course, the most important thing was that when Rick and Sean went to the woods, Sean wanted to shoot Rick to death. Although he didn’t do it, he was discovered by Dale.
Rick and Duke come to the restaurant to find Hershel.
“We want to talk to you.”
“I don’t want to talk to you about the barn.”
“This farm is special, you’re isolated from the world, Dale said you saw this on the news, but the news has been off for a long time.”
Seeing Hershel’s indifference, Rick and Duke came to the barn door.
“We know there are zombies in the barn. It’s very close to where we sleep, only one step away. We either kill them or leave here.” Duke said to Rick.
“No, we can’t leave here, Lola is pregnant. We need to stay here.”
“Okay then. I’ll stay here.”
“I’ll figure it out. Trust me.” Rick said to Duke affirmatively.
Duke drove a car and parked it at the barn gate. He wanted to guard the place. Who knew when they would reach an agreement?
On the other side of the farm, Rick, Hershel and O’Neal went to the woods to bring the zombies back to the barn.
And on the other side of the farm, Dale came deep into the woods, with Sean following behind him.
Do you want to kill me like Otis did?
Sean took the gun from Dale, and everyone was attracted by the zombies in the hands of Rick and Hershel.
“These things are not human. They are dead. Don’t feel sorry for them.” Sean could hardly contain his anger.
Sean excitedly picked up the gun and shot the zombie three times in the chest.
“Can a normal person walk forward after being shot three times in the chest?”
“This is the heart and lungs, why is it moving forward? It’s a monster.” Sean protested excitedly to Hershel while shooting.
“Bang…” Sean killed the zombie in Hershel’s hand.
Then he excitedly told everyone that he wanted to kill all the zombies in the barn.
He was scared. His heart could no longer bear it and he was about to collapse.
Sean rushed to the barn, picked up a hammer beside him and smashed the barn door.
“Something bad is going to happen.” Looking at the excited and crazy Sean, Duke picked up the gun in his hand, raised it and prepared to lead the charge. He knew that there were more than just one or two zombies here.
Sean totally ignored the advice and banged on the door madly.
As Sean broke down the door, zombies rushed out of the barn one after another.
Bang
All the people pointed their guns at the exit of the barn, forming a metal line of fire, and the zombies died one after another at the muzzles of the guns.
All the zombies were killed. Duke looked at Sophia who was piled behind Carol and sighed. Originally, Sophia was also in there. Fortunately, he got there in time that night.
He is not a god, so if he can, then so be it.
Chapter 18: Human Hearts Are Evil (Old Version)
After all the zombies in the barn were killed, everyone began to clean up the scene.
Beth found her mother in the zombies, but her mother was not killed. She grabbed Beth and tried to bite her. With the help of everyone, she escaped from the claws of the zombie mother. This scared Hershel and Beth half to death.
“Bang…” Duke shot Glenn’s struggling zombie mother.
Afterwards, several people gathered the zombies together and burned them, which was considered a relief for them.
Rick pulled Duke aside while they cleaned up the scene.
“What did Hershel say?” Duke knew that this stubborn old man would be difficult to talk to. He was convinced that it was Sean who killed his relatives, even though they were already dead.
“He said either Sean had to leave the farm or we all had to leave.”
“Well, that’s not too much. Fortunately, our people were not hurt.” Duke said with a sigh.
“Rick, the gunshots just now might attract more zombies. We have to find a way.”
In the camp convoy, Dale and Sean were having a good time. Dale looked at Sean as if he was guarding against a thief, which made Sean, who was already unhappy, even more angry.
Inside the house, Glenn and Maggie were chatting.
“If your people want to leave, won’t you stay?”
I haven t really thought about it. I mean, I don t know.
Beth passed out.
Everyone is going to look for Hershel to come back.
“I know the way. I’ll take you there.” Glenn offered himself.
“Okay, I’ll go drive.” Duke went ahead.
Maggie didn’t want him to go because she thought going back to the pharmacy would be dangerous.
“We will bring him back.” Rick’s words made Maggie calm down a little.
“They are so in love.” Looking at the inseparable smiling couple at the door, Duke teased Rick beside him.
“Hehe…” Rick responded, obviously not in the right state.
Duke knew he was upset about his wife and said nothing.
As the car moved down the driveway, Glenn spoke.
“Maggie said she loved me. Well, I mean she was unhappy, or confused or something.”
“Okay, he’s a smart guy and knows what he wants. We also understand what you mean, so don’t worry.”
“No, you know what? She wants to be in love. So she wants to hold onto something.”
“Glenn, everyone can see that Maggie loves you. Don’t worry so much, everything will be fine.” Rick persuaded Glenn.
“Hey, Hershel, wanna buy me a drink?” Duke found Hershel sitting there drinking as soon as he entered the bar.
“Although I don’t like drinking very much, sometimes alcohol does help with certain things.” Duke picked up the wine and poured a glass for Zhizheng and Rick. Glenn doesn’t drink.
“Beth fainted. She must have been frightened. She needs you.” Rick said in her ear.
“We saved your son. That miracle proved to me that miracles do exist. But it deceived me.”
Hershel kept drinking and was unwilling to leave with Rick.
“What should we do? Knock him out?”
“I didn’t expect to see a living person.” Two figures appeared at the door of the bar.
“Would you like to sit down and have a drink?” Duke invited.
“My name is Dave and this is Tony.” Dave pointed at the fat one.
“My name is Glenn, nice to meet some new faces.”
“Rick.” Rick pouring the wine.
“Duke.” Duke, who was leaning against the counter, responded calmly. This guy is not a good person.
“Brother, you have a drink too.” Dave said to Hershel who was doing the chores.
I just quit.
“Oh, you really know how to time it.”
“He’s Hershel, and today he lost a lot of his friends and relatives.” Rick explained for him.
“I am sorry for your loss.”
“Let’s drink to the new friends we will make in the future and the loved ones we have passed away. May they enjoy eternal happiness,” Dave suggested.
Dave drank a glass, pulled out the pistol from his waist and said to everyone, “Nice, isn’t it? I got it from a policeman.”
“I was a cop,” Rick recalled.
You came all the way from Philadelphia.
“It’s a long way from here to everywhere,” Dave interrupted Rick.
Isn t there an army at Fort Benning?
“Officer, I’m not trying to hit you, but I ran into a few soldiers from Fort Benning on the way here, and that place has been occupied by zombies.”
“Is that your car at the door?” Dave asked suddenly.
“Yeah, what’s wrong?” Rick didn’t know what he meant.
“We live in the car, and your car is empty and clean. It looks like you don’t live here. Do you have another place to live?”
” .No.”
“Where’s your luggage? We’re a large group.”
“Come out to investigate and have a drink.”
“Have a couple of drinks, Hershel. You’re quitting drinking, aren’t you?”
“We want to camp nearby. Is it safe here?”
“It’s still safe. Although I killed a few zombies nearby.” Glenn spoke at this time, and it was obvious that he was not aware of the opponent’s trap at this time.
“So, are you camping in the suburbs or somewhere else?”
“Looks like we’re on a farm.” Tony saw some information on a nearby panel.
“We’ve talked enough.” Rick didn’t want to continue drinking with the two of them.
Wait, this farm sounds good.
“Sounds great, doesn’t it, Tony?”
Yes, it s great.
“How about some enthusiasm? We still have brothers in our camp. Times are tough. Why don’t you make some room for us? We can share resources and manpower.”
“I’m sorry, that’s not possible,” Rick refused.
Dave and Tony looked at each other and seemed to have made some decision.
“That sounds fine.” Dave asked again.
“Sorry, we’re accepting more people.” Rick refused again.
“Haha, you guys are different from what I thought. I thought we were friends.”
“We don’t know you at all,” Rick said to Dave.
“Yes, you’re right. You don’t know us at all. You don’t know what we go through out there, what we have to do. No one can claim to be clean in this world. We can ride the tractor to the farm and make friends together.” Dave looked at Rick and said what he wanted.
“That can’t happen.” Rick felt that these two people were not good people alive.
“That’s just bullshit.”
“Calm down.”
“Don’t tell me to calm down. Never tell me to calm down.” The fat man Tony was a little excited.
“I’m going to jump all three of you and take over the fucking farm.”
“Wait, wait, don’t be nervous, no one will kill anyone.” Looking at Rick who stood up to confront Tony, Dave quickly stood up to persuade him.
“No one’s going to jump on anyone, right, Rick?” he said as he crawled towards the counter.
Two random people pulled out their guns and pointed them at Rick at the same time.
Unfortunately, before the gun was fully aimed at the people, two gunshots were heard. Duke, who was standing aside and acting like a handsome man, fired. His hands were on his waist, waiting for this moment. In the movie, Rick shot the two guys with a beautiful quick shot.
“Pack up and let’s go.”
Chapter 19, Daily Farm Life (Old Version)
Just as they were packing up and preparing to leave, several cars drove into the town, illuminating the entire street with their lights.
“There’s a car, there’s a car, lie down.” As they said this, several people hid along the store door.
“Dave, Tony, did they say it’s here?” one of the people who got off the bus asked his companion.
“Yes.”
“Man, I’m telling you, I heard gunshots.”
I saw the walking dead.
There looked to be more than one or two people outside the house.
“Let’s get out of here right now.” One of them urged the others.
“Dave, Tony.” One of them shouted loudly for his dead companion.
“Shut up, idiot, do you want to attract them all here?” one of them cursed his shouting companion.
“Hold on, we’ll find them.”
Looking at the people disappearing outside the house, Rick and his friends wanted to leave, but before they could leave, they heard several gunshots coming from the store next door.
“what happens?”
There were zombies. I took care of them.
“They’re gone, but the car is still here.”
“I’ve finished searching those houses. Have you finished searching this one?” He pointed at the bar where Rick and his friends were hiding.
Before they reached the door of the bar, they heard the shouts of their other companions at the intersection.
“We have to leave here. There are zombies everywhere. Let’s leave quickly.” The other party drove up to the few people.
“Hurry, we have to go too. The gunshots must have attracted the zombies here.”
Several people found a car and left the town.
It was already the next morning when they drove back to the farm. The few people who had just returned met a group of people who were ready to look for them.
“Carl, wow, you run so fast. Why don’t you stay in bed for a while?” Duke teased as he looked at Carl who was jumping and jumping.
“Duke, stop teasing Carl. Are you okay?” Amy asked Duke about her lover’s condition with concern.
“How can I not be okay? Do you miss me?” Duke asked Amy affectionately while holding her in his arms. He walked into the house with Amy in his arms, saying sweet words as he walked.
The next day, Duke slept in for a rare time and got up when the sun was high in the sky. Looking at the scenery outside the window, if it weren’t for the disaster, this would be a rare South American rural life.
“Hey, guys, what are you doing? Gather together.” Duke walked out of the room and arrived at the campsite and saw his friends gathered together to discuss something.
“Duke, it’s rare that you get up so late. You must be tired last night.” Glenn teased Duke who had just arrived.
“Hey, man, we went out this morning and caught a guy who came back yesterday.” Rick explained the situation to Duke.
“What’s going on? Does he know where we are staying temporarily? Has he found out about their personnel situation?” Duke asked nervously.
“Not sure yet. Daryl’s still in the barn questioning us.”
I ll go over and take a look.
When Duke first arrived at the barn, he saw a guy lying on the ground, beaten half to death by Daryl.
“Brother, what’s wrong? You’re really harsh.”
“That’s pretty much what you said, except you didn’t say how many people there were and what weapons they had. You’re just being stubborn.”
“Yeah?”
Duke squatted down and touched the captured man. He looked quite young, perhaps just graduated from high school.
“How old are you? Does it hurt? This guy is too harsh. Tell me about your personnel and equipment. Why do you have to endure this? Don’t you think so? I feel sorry for you.”
“I said, we, no, they are about 30 people, all men, with about 20 pistols, 10 shotguns, 7 or 8 AKs, and an M60. This is all I know, please let me go.”
Duke stood up, looked at Daryl, and turned to go out. He and Daryl came to the teammates, who were still arguing about how to deal with the captured guy.
“There is a group of them, about thirty of them, with heavy weapons, and they don’t look like good people. If they come here, we will be dead…
And women will suffer a fate worse than death. “Darryl told everyone the information he had found out.
“What did you do to him?” Carol was a kind woman.
“Nothing, just had a chat with him. Right, Daryl.” Duke took the question to answer.
“Rick, what’s wrong with you?”
“We had no choice, he was a threat.”
“Are you going to kill him?” Dale, the good old man, couldn’t bear to see people treat the captured person like this.
“Yes, I’ll do it now.” Then he turned and headed for the barn.
“Rick, don’t be impulsive. The situation is not that bad. We can lock him up first. There’s no need to get blood on your hands.” Duke advised Rick.
He didn’t want to kill people just like that.
They managed to persuade Rick to live and locked him up in the barn.
“If you save me, I will take you to see my people. We will protect you and take care of you. Just help me escape, okay?” Duke and Sean came to see the imprisoned person and heard him asking someone for help.
“That’s not a good idea, is it, Carl?” Duke pushed open the door and walked in.
“What did you say to him? I tell you, I’m going to kill you right now.” Sean pointed his gun at the guy excitedly.
“Okay, Sean, come on.”
“Open your mouth, I’ll let you talk too much, I’ll let you talk too much, open your mouth, I’ll kill you.”
“Okay, Sean, take Carl out first.”
“Get out, you little bastard. Go away.” Sean angrily pulled Carl out of the barn.
“Want to go out?” Duke laughed a little when he saw the horrified expression on his face when he was discovered.
“It seems that you have strength after eating, right? You are just thinking of evil things. You only have one meal from now on, so cherish it, otherwise you will try to escape when you have strength.”
After saying that, Duke went out. As soon as he came out, he saw Sean teaching Carl a lesson.
“Carl, go back first, don’t come here again, and don’t do anything stupid again.” Duke came to Carl and said to Carl who was being taught a lesson.
It is said that Carl, who had just left, found a Black Star in the bag of Daryl’s motorcycle. Little Carl kicked the Black Star and ran into the woods.
Duke followed behind Carl, “This little guy is not quiet at all.” He clearly remembered that he was almost eaten by zombies that day.
Carl found a zombie in a swamp deep in the woods. The zombie was roaring at him, which startled Carl and he almost fell to the ground.
Fortunately, the zombie’s feet were stuck in the mud and couldn’t be pulled out for a while. This made Carl feel relieved. He squatted down and slowly approached to observe. He picked up a stone on the ground and threw it at the zombie, which angered the zombie. The zombie struggled to escape from the mud pit and bite the guy in front of it to pieces.
Seeing that the man was trapped inside and unable to move, Carl ran down and wanted to shoot him to death at close range.
Who would have thought that the zombie would struggle to leave the quagmire and pounce on Carl. It immediately grabbed the gun from Carl’s hand. Carl fell to the ground in fear. The zombie grabbed Carl’s feet and pulled Carl to his side.
Duke quickly ran over and cut off Carl’s hand with a knife.
“Want to prove yourself to others, little man?” Duke looked at Carl with a teasing look on his face. He picked up the gun and pulled Carl up.
“It’s not good for you to do this. This place is too close to the camp. If you shoot here, it will attract zombies. There’s no need to use this method to prove yourself. Everyone will worry about you. Go back.” He killed the zombie easily and took Carl back to the camp.
Chapter 20, Sean’s Layout (Old Version)
When I took Karl back to the house, I saw everyone gathered in the living room, all with gloomy faces. I patted Pa Ke’er and asked Karl to go back to the room.
Duke walked over to Amy and listened to what they were saying.
“What should we do? Do we need to vote? Should it be passed unanimously, or by majority rule?” Dale asked Rick.
“We would like to ask for everyone’s opinion.” Rick asked for everyone’s opinions.
“There’s only one way I can think of.”
“Kill him? Right.” Sean was interrupted by Dale before he could finish.
“Dale, listen to me, first of all he is not one of us. Their people have lost their humanity. Do you know what kind of person he is if he stays in that team? We have already lost a lot of people.” Rick explained to Dale what he meant.
“What about you? Do you agree?” Dell asked the others.
“We can’t keep him locked up,” Maggie suggested.
“We let him go, and once we let our guard down, he escaped and brought his thirty men to talk to us about their lives,” Sean said sarcastically.
“The whole reason for killing him was to prevent a crime that he might not have committed.”
“If we do this, it means there is no hope, no law, and no civilization,” Dell protested excitedly.
“Can’t we send him somewhere farther away?” Hershel suggested.
“You almost didn’t make it back last time. Now there are zombies everywhere. You might be killed, or get lost, or be ambushed.” Laura warned her husband.
“She’s right, we can’t put our people in danger.” Glenn also expressed his opinion.
“If you want to kill him, what will you do? Will he be happy?” Beth said worriedly.
“We can hang him or break his neck,” Sean suggested very suggestively.
“Ahem, I still think it’s more humane to use a gun.” Duke, who had been listening for a long time, interrupted. Indeed, they didn’t dare to take the risk. After the disaster, the most dangerous thing was not the zombies, but humans.
“Wait, it looks like you’ve already made up your mind,” Dale protested.
“We’ve been discussing this for a whole day and there’s been no real progress. Are you going to continue wasting time?” Daryl said impatiently.
Led by Rick, they took the man to the barn and prepared to shoot him. Rick fired. Bang! The man died.
Well, of course the ending was not like this, there was no execution, Dale awakened the humanity of everyone, and continued to imprison him as Duke did.
Everyone still supports this decision. After all, no one wants to kill anyone.
The moon was very round that day. Dale came to the border of the pasture with a gun on his back. He saw an unusual scene: a cow on the farm was dismembered by zombies. He slowly approached, wanting to see what was going on.
By the time he realized there was movement behind him, a zombie knocked him to the ground.
“Ah…” A scream woke up everyone in the camp.
“what happened?”
“Baby, go and be with everyone. Stay in the house.” Duke turned over, rushed out with his weapon, and ran towards the direction where the sound came from.
Daryl arrived first and killed the zombies easily.
Everyone came over and saw that Dale had a big hole in his stomach caused by the zombies.
“Hurry up, Hershel, we need you, hurry up.” Rick pressed down on Dale’s wound and shouted desperately towards Hershel who was rushing over here.
You have to hold on.
Can we move him?
“He couldn’t take the jolt. His wounds were simply too big.”
“You treat him here, Glenn, go back to the house and get…”
“Rick.” Duke grabbed Rick’s hand and shook his head at him. Dale’s wound was too big to be saved.
“No…”
Oh, God.
Everyone was so upset that they couldn’t bear it anymore. The people who were fine just now were about to leave.
Rick rubbed his eyes, squatted down, looked at the painful Dale, pulled out his gun and prepared to relieve Dale from his pain.
Looking at the hesitant Rick, Daryl reached out to take the gun and looked at Dale who slowly moved his head closer to the muzzle of the gun.
“I’m sorry, man.” Daryl pulled the trigger.
In order to prevent such incidents, everyone decided to do a general cleanup of the zombies nearby, and everyone worked in groups of three or five to clean up along the road and in the direction of the water flow.
If we don t clean it up, we won t know that there are only about fifty cattle left out of the hundred or so cattle on the farm, and half of them have been killed by the zombies.
“The swamp will freeze, the river will dry up, and with the fifty cows on the farm, we’ll be like a meal for the walking dead.” Maggie said to the group.
“We should have let you move in earlier.” Hershel said to the team. He wanted to let everyone move into the house.
“Okay, we’ll move the cars in front of each gate, facing the road. We’ll set up guard posts at the barns and the windmill so that the line of sight can be seen all over the farm.”
Rick directed from the side.
“Sean, you take charge of the patrol. T-boy and Daryl will watch the surroundings. Duke and I will take that guy out and release him.”
But when everyone was packing up, Sean took the guy to the woods, asked him where their people were, and then took him into the woods.
“Rick, Rick, Duke, Duke.”
Sean’s voice came from the woods.
“What happened?” Seeing Sean’s face covered in blood, Rick dared to step forward.
“He was armed and he tried to steal my gun.” Sean stormed over.
Are you okay?
“I’m fine, that bastard attacked me.”
He punched me in the face.
“Duke, Daryl, come with me, and everyone else go back to the house.” Rick instructed everyone.
“Weren’t we planning on just letting him go?”
“The plan was to get him away from here and release him. Not so close to us with a gun.”
“Before I fainted, he ran along that road into the woods. I’m not sure how long he walked.” Sean brought a few people to the woods and described the situation while chasing him.
“He couldn’t have walked far. He hadn’t eaten in days and was exhausted.” Duke described his condition.
“Can you find any trace of him?” Rick asked Daryl.
“No, I found nothing.”
“Listen, there’s no need for us to chase him. He’s heading in that direction. We need to team up in pairs. We’ll chase him separately. That’s it.” Sean said, cutting the Gordian knot.
“You said the kid pounced on you?” Daryl asked in disbelief.
“A rock can kill anyone,” Sean argued.
“Okay, Sean and I will search the left side, and Daryl, you and Duke will go to the right side.” Rick made the decision at this time.
“Do you have a light? We can’t keep searching like this.” Duke asked Daryl beside him.
Daryl pulled a flashlight from his waist and illuminated the road ahead.
Duke and Daryl searched aimlessly in the woods, which made Duke full of doubts and felt like he had missed something.
“There are two tracks here,” Daryl said, looking at the ground.
“Sean must have gone much further than he said.” Daryl said with certainty.
“There are fresh blood stains on the tree.” Daryl shone the light on the blood on the tree.
“There were a lot of marks on the ground, and it looked like two people were walking back and forth.”
“Let’s go to the front and take a look. We might find something.” Duke said, pointing to the front of the traces.
“There’s a bit of dirt in front, like someone fell down.” Following the traces of the light, the two people’s eyes were attracted.
“Wait, something’s happening.” Duke pulled Daryl against the tree. There was a swaying shadow in front of them, and it looked like a zombie.
The zombie slowly walked towards the place where the two were hiding, and Duke raised his sword and stabbed him. Duke didn’t take the zombies one or two seriously at all, and no single zombie could cause trouble for Duke.
Daryl has a light shining on the walker, it’s him.
Daryl flipped him over.
“There are no bite marks on his body. This is the cause of his death.” Daryl pointed at the zombie’s neck. There was a bruise on it, and it looked like it had been twisted off.
The two of them looked at each other. I couldn’t believe it, it seemed that they had the same idea.
Go back quickly.

Chapter 21, Fight for Love (Old Version)
On the other side, Rick and Sean came to the foot of a hillside.
“You said he hit you with a rock.”
That s what I said.
In the barn?
“Because T said the door was locked when he went there.” It seemed that Rick seemed to have noticed something. Anyone who calmed down would feel that something was strange.
“He must have crawled out along the roof.”
On the hillside, Sean and Rick were standing one after the other, and under the shadow of the moon, it looked a bit like a Zorro duel. It seemed like they were going to have a gentleman’s duel.
“So this is where you’re going to do it.” Rick slowly put the gun back into its holster.
“This is a great place.” Sean looked around.
“At least have the guts to call this… murder?”
“Do you really think if you go back to the farm alone, do you really think they’re going to believe this bullshit you’re making up?”
“It is all true. I saw the prisoner shoot you. I ran after him and broke his neck.”
“It’s not easy, but Lola and Carl will let you go. They did it once, and they have to do it this way.” Sean said, raising his gun and aiming at Rick.
“Why?” Rick didn’t understand.
“I thought we were done with each other. We would never want to kill each other, brother.”
“You want to shoot me, rape my wife, and make my kids call you daddy? Is that what you want? That kind of life is worthless. I know you. You can’t live like that.”
“You don’t know how much I can take, you don’t know, come on, brother, raise your gun.” Sean yelled hysterically at Rick.
No, I won t.
“What’s wrong, Rick? I thought you weren’t such a nice guy anymore, didn’t you say so?”
“I’m a better father than you, Rick.”
“I’m a better match for Laura than you are.”
“Because I’m better than you, Rick.” Sean was stimulating Rick strongly.
“It was your resurrection that ruined everything.” Sean could no longer bear the direct emotion.
“Your wife has lost her virginity, your son is a coward, and you have no idea what to do with him.” Sean whispered sarcastically.
“Put your gun up.” Sean raised the gun again and pointed it at Rick.
“Are you going to kill an unarmed man, Sean?” Rick slowly raised his hand.
“Look at my hands.” Rick was trying to divert Sean’s attention.
“Easy, simple.” Rick’s left hand slowly reached towards his waist, but Sean only saw Rick’s hand parallel, which seemed to pose no direct threat.
The atmosphere at this moment was very confusing, and Sean made up his mind to kill Rick.
“Listen to me, Sean. There’s still room for recovery. Let’s pretend this never happened and put our guns down. Let’s go back to the farm.” Rick pulled out the gun with his left hand and hung it without any threat.
“Go back to Lola, go back to Carl.” Rick slowly approached Sean with a gun hanging. Sean was in a complicated mood. On the one hand, he wanted to kill Rick and take Lola, but on the other hand, he couldn’t bear to kill his long-time friend.
“Forget all that.”
Sean pointed the gun at Rick with one hand and slowly handed over his other hand to take Rick’s gun. At the moment when the two of them approached.
“Divination…”
There was a mixture of gunshots and the sound of a knife stabbing into flesh.
Sean reacted naturally and pulled the trigger, but he missed Rick. Rick’s knife stabbed into Sean’s body.
“You forced me to do this, Sean. It was you, not me, who ruined our friendship. It’s your fault, not me, not me.” Rick couldn’t bear it anymore. He felt very uncomfortable and painful.
“It’s not me. It’s not me.” Until Sean bled to death.
“Not me.”
Rick looked at the situation in front of him and could no longer suppress his immediate emotions.
“Ah…Ah…” Rick burst into tears in this deserted place. No one knew that Sean was undergoing a huge change at this time.
“dad…”
Rick turned around and didn’t know when his son came to a place not far from him.
Carl.
Rick walked slowly towards Carl. Seeing his son’s horrified face, Rick wanted to explain to him.
“You should stay with your mother.” Seeing his son’s increasingly panicked expression, Rick thought that the scene he saw him kill Sean scared his son.
Carl raised the pistol in his hand and pointed it at Rick. Rick was frightened by the evil guest. He was in a trance.
Behind Rick, Sean had already transformed into a zombie and was rushing towards Rick. It turned out that it was Sean who scared Carl.
“Put it down, put the gun down.” Rick was really about to cry but had no tears. In his mind, his own son was holding a gun and wanted to kill him.
“That’s not the case, please.” Rick was still trying to persuade his son.
“Bang…” Carl fired, but didn’t hurt Rick. Something fell down behind him. Rick turned around and saw that the zombie Sean had been shot dead by Carl.
————————————————————I am the dividing line of kindness———————————————————–
“I can’t just wait here, I have to go out and look for them.” Glenn couldn’t stay at home any longer, so he got up and wanted to look for his friends.
“You can’t leave, and if Randall (Dian Gua found the name of the captured guy) runs back, you’ll be needed here.” Maggie pulled Glenn to persuade him.
At this time, the door opened from the outside, and Daryl and Duke walked in from outside.
“Rick and Sean haven’t come back yet?” Daryl asked everyone as soon as he entered the door.
“without.”
“We heard gunshots,” Duke added.
“Maybe they found Randall.” Laura replied to Duke.
“We found him.” Daryl interrupted Laura’s speculation.
“So we take him back to the barn?” Laura asked.
“He turned into a zombie.” Duke made a finishing move.
“Have you found the zombie that bit him?” Hershel asked Duke.
“The strange thing is that he wasn’t bitten.” Daryl told everyone with a puzzled look on his face.
His neck was broken.
“So he struggled before he died.” Duke analyzed affirmatively.
“Sean and Randall’s footprints are the same, so we need to determine that it was Sean who killed Randall,” Daryl analyzed.
“Please go find Sean and Rick and find out what happened,” Laura pleaded with Duke.
“Okay.” Duke turned around and went out with Daryl.
Rick and his son Carl were on their way back.
Not far from them, a large group of zombies were wandering in the woods. They hadn’t had a big meal for a long time. The gunshots attracted them all, which meant a big meal. They moved in an orderly manner towards the big meal.
Chapter 22: The Farm Falls (Old Version)
Carl and his father were walking back. Rick had not yet recovered from his recent emotions.
“Were you bitten?” Carl asked Rick.
“Sean was bitten.” Rick didn’t know how to answer Carl.
“That’s not Sean, you know.”
It used to be.
“What happened?” Carl was also confused about what had just happened.
“Were you attacked? I heard gunshots. But I didn’t see any zombies around.”
“How did Sean die?” Carl had a lot of questions to ask Rick.
Rick turned back to Carl.
Before he could explain anything to Carl, he suddenly felt that there seemed something unusual in the darkness around him.
I listened carefully that day and found that there were footsteps and screams all around me that were so scary to hear.
“Oh my God, hurry up.” Rick pulled Carl and ran towards the house.
Everyone in the room also noticed the unusual movements around them. Led by Daryl and Duke, they walked out of the room to check.
What came into view was a dark barn and pasture.
Rick led his son to a wall of the barn.
“We need to go back to the house and tell the others,” Carl suggested to his father.
“We can’t go back. There are zombies everywhere. We can’t get around.”
“Carl, keep up, hurry up.”
Rick took Carl and ran towards the barn from the corner of the zombies.
“Herschel, tell the people in the house to turn off the lights, get their guns, and get ready to rush out.” Duke had a bad feeling coming over him.
Rick took Carl and dodged the zombies that were trying to capture them and came to the barn. Rick took Carl and closed the barn door, and they were safe for the time being.
Rick took Carl to the second floor of the barn, while Duke and others distributed weapons on the other side.
Rick and Ekar found some gasoline and covered the entire first floor of the barn.
“Go upstairs quickly and wait for my order to put out the fire.”
“Dad, what about you?”
“I’ll be there in a minute. I’ll at least stop some of the zombies from approaching the house and lure the rest away. That way we still have a chance of survival.”
Rick the Persuader Carl.
Rick opened the closed barn door and saw a horde of zombies.
Rick turned and crawled to the second floor and asked his son to light the fire.
The first floor was full of zombies. Carl set fire to them all and staged a good show of burning the zombies.
Duke and others drove to the barn. The zombies had surrounded the barn and a raging fire was burning inside.
“Bang… Bang…” The only two zombies left at the barn door were shot to death. Several people drove around the barn and gunshots rang out from the car.
“Amy, drive steadily.” Duke felt that the car Amy was driving was bobbing up and down too much.
“I’ll try my best.”
“Rick must have set the fire. But they are trying to escape. Go and pick them up.” Duke passed by Hershel’s second son who was driving a motorhome (God knows what his name is, but he exists to save Rick and Carl. Let us remember this unsung hero)
Driving the RV to the side of the barn, Rick and Carl were at the gap on the second floor. They climbed onto the roof of the RV. The guys in the car may not have experienced zombie attacks, so they left their seats to see the scenery outside. As you can imagine, the zombies that crowded into the car were torn to pieces. So my suggestion here is that if you live in a zombie world, you can either fight back and be torn apart by zombies in the end, or find a place to die and become a zombie, which is better than the pain of being torn apart. Of course, it’s just a suggestion.
Rick took Carl and escaped from the zombies from the back of the RV and ran into the woods.
“Amy, drive back. We need to get everyone to leave here. We’re surrounded by zombies.” Duke said to Amy who was driving while clearing the zombies on the route as he watched Rick flee towards the woods.
The others fled from all around the house, and Duke’s car was also seized by the zombies.
“I can’t drive anymore. There are too many.”
“Open out.”
“What.”
“Amy, the farm can no longer be saved.”
“We can’t leave others behind. Where is my sister?” Amy said.
Seeing more and more zombies surrounding them, Amy made up her mind. She reversed the car, shook off some of the zombies, accelerated ahead, and ran over the zombies.
On the way out of the farm, Amy was a little depressed. Hershel kept looking at his farm.
“Okay, we can go back to the highway.” Duke looked away from the farm.
“Have you seen my sister?”
I don t see anything.
“I lost my sister and I want to go back to find her.” Amy looked at Duke with a sad face.
We can t go back. There s nothing there. We have to go back to the highway, where we still have some supplies.
“No, the zombies are coming from that direction.”
“Because it comes from there, it is safe.”
“No, I don’t want to go back.” Duke felt a little reluctant when seeing Amy’s panicked expression.
“Stop the car, stop the car.” Duke comforted Amy easily.
Watching Amy park the car. “I’ll drive.”
Amy, who had changed her position, couldn’t help crying.
“Amy, look at me and listen to me. We are out. We are safe. I believe they are too, okay?”
“I love you, Amy, I love you.” Duke hugged Amy tightly, perhaps this would alleviate some of the stimulation Amy suffered.
Duke drove to the gathering place on the highway, where a JEEP Grand Cherokee was already parked, holding Ralph, Carl, and Hershel.
Duke, who hadn’t gotten out of the car yet, heard the sounds of motorcycles and car engines coming from behind. Everyone had arrived.
It is another touching scene of reunion after the disaster.
Duke bumped fists with Rick and Daryl who were walking towards him. Friendship between men is that simple.
Where did you meet them? Rick asked Daryl.
“Someone’s car was changing lanes randomly on the road. Only Asians would drive so badly.”
“Hehe, you are too one-sided.” Duke added later.
Oh, sorry, I didn t mean you.
Everyone knows this.
“hehe.”
“Where are the others?” Duke asked Rick who arrived first.
“We are the only ones who have escaped here.” Rick said as he looked at the people who had escaped.
Duke, Amy, Daryl, the Morgans, Carol, Sophia, Glenn, Maggie, Beth, Hershel, Carl, Laura.
“Where’s Sean?” Laura just remembered to ask Rick, he went with Rick.
Rick shook his head and said nothing.
“Where’s my sister?” Amy asked.
“She saved us, and then we disappeared,” Carol said while hugging Sophia.
“We saw her get tackled,” Morgan said, leaning against the car.
Amy couldn’t bear the answer and sobbed in Duke’s arms.
“Where’s Patricia?” Hershel wanted to ask his wife.
“They took her too,” Beth said bitterly.
“It was right in front of me, and I was… I was holding her tightly, but… Dad, but she…” Beth couldn’t say any more, and fell on Hershel and burst into tears.
“Have you seen Jimmy?” Beth asked. (I watched the original show many times and finally found the name of the unsung hero in this episode.)
“He’s in the RV and the zombies have broken in.” Rick answered Beth’s question.
“Are you sure you saw Andrea?” Duke asked to confirm. The original show said that she escaped and met the Governor. But who knows what will happen in the world of the walking dead.
“There are zombies everywhere.” Laura was not sure either.
“I want to go back.” Hearing the uncertain answer, Amy, who was still buried in his arms, spoke.
“No.” Duke pulled her.
“We can’t leave her there alone. I’m going to go find her.” Amy said to Duke painfully.
“We don’t even know if she is there, and it’s been occupied by the zombies.” Duke advised again.
“She must not be there anymore. She must have run away.” Duke comforted Amy.
“There are zombies everywhere here.” Daryl shot a lost zombie that was slowly approaching the group with a crossbow arrow.
“We have to get off the main road. The more main the road, the more likely they are.” Duke said and turned to start the car.
Chapter 23, Virus Carrier (Old Version)
The convoy was walking quietly on the road. A horn honked from behind the rear of the car. It was Rick’s car.
The stopped convoy dispersed and stood guard nearby.
“Are you out of gas?” Duke asked Rick.
“The fuel tank is empty.”
“There’s not enough space for so many people in one car.”
We need to find some oil.
“Do you want to stay here overnight?” Watching the sky slowly darken.
“I’m so cold.” Carl said as he wiped himself.
“Let’s go find some firewood. Don’t get separated.”
“We only have these few arrows. Do you have any bullets?” Daryl looked at the less than ten crossbow arrows in his hand.
“Not much.” Rick replied.
“I still have some, enough for one more massacre.” Duke said, shaking the gun in his hand.
“We can’t just sit here and wait for death, it will expose us.”
“Stop talking, listen to Rick.” This was the opinion of the team. Rick gradually took the lead in the team.
“Okay, let’s set up a guard post and go find some gas and supplies tomorrow morning.”
“Glenn and I can make a run right now. Let’s find some gas.” Maggie’s voice sounded just as Rick stopped.
“No, we have to stay together.” Rick whispered.
“If anything happens, we won’t be able to move without a car.”
“We can’t move forward now,” Glenn said dejectedly.
“At least we are still together, we are not separated. We are still together, and we need to stay that way.”
At least there is no great danger in following the protagonist for now, Duke thought darkly in his heart.
“Rick, look around, there are zombies everywhere, and they seem to be migrating.” Glenn predicted like a god.
“There must be a place where we can not only hide, but also defend, hold on, regroup and rebuild our lives. We must find it.” Rick envisioned everyone’s future with certainty.
“We’ll camp there tonight and set off tomorrow.” Rick pointed to the ruins of a house not far from the roadside.
“Do you think this will work?” Carol looked at the appallingly shabby walls.
“What if the zombies come? What if someone like Randall comes?” Beth was still a little panicked about what happened not long ago.
“Did you know we found Randall? He wasn’t bitten.” Daryl said the strange thing about that.
“How could this happen, Rick, what’s going on?” Beth asked.
“Sean killed Randall. He always wanted to do that.” Daryl said affirmatively.
Watching everyone’s eyes turn to Rick.
“We are all infected.” Everyone was confused for a moment after hearing Rick’s words. (I guess there is only one person in the world who is not infected. You can guess. If you guess it, no prize. Okay, sweet potato is naughty.)
“What Jenna told me at the CDC is that no matter what it is, we are all carriers.”
Everyone looked at me and I looked at you. It was really hard to accept this horrible fact.
Carol: You didn t tell us a word.
“What’s the use of saying it?”
Glenn: “You knew this all along?”
I don t know if it s true.
“Why didn’t you tell me? When I found the zombies in the barn, I told everyone for their own good.”
“I think it’s best if people don’t know about this.”
Our Duke has always been a person with zero presence in the team, but sometimes we can’t do without him. Everyone knows that usually when he speaks, things are settled and everyone acknowledges his existence.
Rick looked at Duke gratefully, but Duke turned his head to comfort Amy. This made Rick very upset. He walked ahead alone to look at the scenery.
Laura walked over, wanting to comfort her husband.
Looking at her husband’s lonely figure, Laura hugged Rick from behind.
“I know you have your own difficulties, which means I can…”
I killed him.
“I killed Sean,” Rick confessed to his wife.
“He wanted to kill me. He killed Randall and led me into the woods. It was all planned. I… I had no choice. I gave him a chance to turn back, but he led me further and further away. I let him take me away. I could have stopped, but I just wanted everything to stop as soon as possible. He kept finding fault, acting as if I had taken you and Carl away. I was a stumbling block to him. I wanted him to die. I killed him. He turned into a zombie, and then I realized that Jenner was right. Carl killed him.”
Laura uncrossed her arms as she listened. She couldn’t accept that this happened to Rick and Carl. She couldn’t accept it and stretched her waist in pain.
Rick wanted to help her and comfort her, but as soon as he put his hand on Laura’s shoulder, Laura pushed him away.
Rick slowly approached Laura, but was frightened by her angry face. Laura turned and left.
——————————————————————————I am the dividing line——————————————————–
Speaking of Andrea on the other side, was she bitten by a zombie?
The answer is of course no.
After Andrea escaped from the farm, she was chased into the woods by the zombies. She was chased in the woods for a whole night and had run out of bullets. She really didn’t have the energy to play the game of chase with the zombies, so she decided to have a duel with the guys behind her.
But she obviously overestimated herself and underestimated the enemy. Zombies don’t get tired and won’t run out of energy after running for a long time. She was knocked to the ground by the zombies at the first sight, and the dagger in her hand was knocked off. Looking at the zombies walking towards her, she moved backwards step by step, making a dying struggle.
The zombie caught her, and slowly approached her as she was reluctant to give in, slowly approaching the delicious meal.
Andrea’s eyes were suddenly filled with a flash of knife light. The zombie’s head was split in half by the sharp knife. A hat-wearing figure was accompanied by two people who were probably humans, but they were not very clear.
The man slowly approached Andrea, his entire face hidden in a large hat, and in his hands were chains leading two zombies with their hands cut off and their mouths cut off.
He also raises zombies, so it seems like he’s also a very capable person.
As night falls, the moon becomes like an old man who never rests. Sometimes he pops up to meet everyone, and sometimes he hides in the clouds to play.
Everyone gathered around the fire, warming themselves and eating the little food they had hastily brought out.
“It’s not safe for us to be with him. He kept that from us.” Carola seemed to have a lot of opinions about Rick. She told Daryl what she thought. But why Daryl? Can anyone tell me that it was Daryl who saved them from leaving the farm?
“Why are you following him? He will only hold you back.”
“No, I have no problem with Rick.”
“You are just his lackey, and Duke. We are a burden, and you shouldn’t be relegated to this.”
“What do you want?” Daryl asked puzzled.
A noble leader.
“Rick is noble.” Daryl stopped talking to her and silently added firewood.
“I think we should go out and give it a try.” Maggie on the opposite side had something to say, and she said to Glenn beside her.
“Don’t be stupid, there is no food, no fuel, no ammunition.” Hershel, who was beside her, interrupted her.
Crash
“What’s that noise?” Beth was startled.
“It could be anything, a raccoon, a rat, or even a zombie.” Daryl stood up and scared the others.
“We have to get going, what are we waiting for?” Carol couldn’t wait to leave here.
“The most taboo thing now is to run around in the middle of the night. You guys stay here and don’t disperse. I’ll go out and take a look.” Duke patted his butt and stood up, comforting Amy and letting her go to the crowd.
“I don’t want to stay here and be surrounded by zombies. We have to leave now.” Maggie stood up and said what she was thinking.
“No one is allowed to leave.” Rick refused flatly.
“I killed my best friend for you.” Seeing everyone’s shocked faces, Rick excitedly told the whole incident.
“You know what kind of person he is. He always forces me. Tianya threatens our safety. He is a threat. He directed the whole Randall incident. He wanted to trap me and kill me. He left me no choice. He is my friend, but he wants to kill me. My hands are clean.”
“Maybe it would be better for you to leave me. Go ahead. I think I can find a place to stay, but maybe it’s just a daydream. Maybe I’m an idiot. Why don’t you go and look for it yourselves. Remember to send me a postcard.” Rick protested angrily as he looked at these teammates who didn’t understand him.
“Come on, the door is open.”
“Happiness is just outside the door. It depends on how far you can go.”
“Oh, why is the atmosphere so serious? Rick, relax, why are you so stern? Do you know what I saw outside?” Duke walked in from outside at this time.
“What is it?” Rick asked.
“A lost lamb, I sent her home, and by the way, I found her house. It’s a nice place, and it looks very big.” Duke couldn’t hide his smile, it seemed like good news.
Chapter 24, Cleaning the Prison (Old Version)
At dawn the next day, everyone, led by Duke, followed an abandoned railway track to the place where they found the item.
“What a shame for such a great place,” said Daryl.
Looking at the big prison in front of me, the open space of the prison is scattered with zombies. The wall surrounds them all. It is a good choice as a refuge.
Everyone immediately decided to capture the prison.
Duke led the way, and the others followed behind. There were still some scattered zombies outside the prison. Duke took the lead and easily solved them.
“Watch your back.”
“Know.”
Rick used pliers to cut a hole in the wire fence. After everyone went in, he sealed the hole to prevent them from being attacked from the front and back by the zombies.
After it was dealt with, the zombies on both sides rushed over at once, threw themselves on the wall, and struggled to eat the delicious food in front of them.
The group ran along the safe fenced path all the way to the prison gate.
There was an overturned bus at the gate, so everyone stopped there for a while and discussed how to break into the prison.
This place is great, if we can close the door to prevent more from coming in, we can deal with these zombies. We can take over this vacant lot before nightfall.” Rick looked at the situation and made a suggestion.
“See that watchtower? Rick and I will go over there and then we can go inside after we close the door.” Duke suggested, pointing at the watchtower.
“Glenn, Maggie, you guys go to the fence over there to attract the zombies. Daryl, you guys go to that watchtower.” Rick pointed to the fence on one side and the watchtower on the other side and divided the work.
“Herschel, Carl, go up this tower.” Rick pointed to the watchtower at the gate.
The scattered people each have their own responsibilities.
Duke held a sword in his right hand and a pistol in his left hand, ready to clear the way for Rick.
After everyone distracted the zombies, Laura helped them open the door, and the two ran towards the second door.
There were only a few zombies left in front of the two men, most of them were attracted to the sides. Duke quickly and accurately chopped off a zombie that blocked his way.
He called to Rick to follow, and he was still using his gun to clear out the zombies that had followed him because of the noise.
Hershel and Carl were holding guns and clearing dangers on their right side, while Carol and Daryl were on the sentry tower clearing dangers on their left side.
The people at the fences on both sides were holding knives and daggers, and they could only be said to be slaughtering the zombies that were approaching to die.
Duke and his men quickly ran to the second door. The two zombies at the door saw strangers coming and wanted to go over to sniff them. But before they could get too close, Duke, the tactless guy, killed them with a knife and a gun.
Rick rushed forward, pulled the iron doors and locked them up.
With two sounds of “Puff…Puff…”, he dealt with the two zombies chasing him. With the help of Duke, he easily got into the watchtower next to him.
“They succeeded.” Everyone breathed a sigh of relief as they watched the two people lock the door and go into the watchtower.
It s time for the massacre.
“Hey… just fight!” Daryl shouted at his brothers at the top of his voice.
Picking up the rifle on my back feels like cutting wheat.
Seeing his teammates looking so relaxed, Duke shook his head slightly and smiled.
“Hey, man, that guy is mine.” Duke warned as he saw the last zombie being targeted by Rick. He came up a little late because he had to help Rick be on guard.
Rick picked up the gun, smiled and said nothing.
Looking at the dead bodies on the ground, everyone showed an expression of relief on their faces again since the farm was trapped.
It s awesome.
“Nice shot.”
I haven t seen such a vast place since I left the farm.
A group of people walked on the cleared grassland, their expressions and words revealed a sense of ease.
With the help of everyone, the zombies on the grass were cleared to one side, and all the cars were parked at the gate. On the one hand, it was convenient for escape if zombies broke in, and on the other hand, it could also serve as the first blockade line to stop the zombies.
Under the cover of night, a group of people gathered around the fire. T was on guard on the roof of the car. Rick was around the fence, checking it again and again.
“If we dig a canal under the fence and bring water in, the soil is good and we can grow some tomatoes, cucumbers and beans.”
“Ha ha ha ha…”
“He has checked it three times. If there is a hole in the iron bars, he will definitely find it.” Hershel said to the others while looking at Rick who was checking the iron bars.
“Don’t worry about him. He is just worried. We won beautifully today, but we still have to work harder. Most of the zombies are wearing guards and prisoners’ clothes. It seems that this place fell a long time ago, which means that the supplies may be sufficient. Prisons usually have infirmaries and cafeterias.”
Duke told Zongren who had just come over about the various possibilities of prison.
“Is there an armory?” Daryl said as they came over.
“As far as I know, armories are usually not in prisons, but they are not too far away. The warden’s office should have information about the armory’s location, weapons, food, and medicine. This place may be a big gold mine.” Rick came over at this time and expressed his opinion.
“We are running low on ammunition. If we kill a few more, it will run out.” Hershel is currently looking after the logistics. An old man in the family is like a treasure. Like Dale, the old man thinks in detail.
“We can go in and fight in close combat. I can take the lead, and then a few more will come.” Duke took the initiative to take on the task of fighting.
“We’ve been through so much together. I have confidence that we can win.” Rick encouraged everyone.
“These bastards are dead.”
“Are you ready?” Rick held the lock that was locked yesterday and prepared to go in and clean out the zombies.
“go…go…go,,”
Duke took the lead, the knife raised and the head fell.
Duke, Rick, Daryl, Glenn, Morgan, and Maggie slowly approached the zombies in the fence back to back. They wanted to clear the zombies at the prison gate.
“Come closer, come closer.”
“Come here, come here, here.” The other teammates slapped the surrounding fences and cleared the zombies according to yesterday’s formation.
Under the leadership of Duke, the spearhead of the battle, several people quickly rushed to the second gate car. Only some zombies that were attracted to the surrounding area were left and had not been cleaned up. After they closed the second door, they could do what they did yesterday to close the door and beat the dog.
The five people formed three-level spearhead teams. Duke was responsible for killing the zombies approaching, or hitting the zombies. On the second level, Glenn and Maggie were responsible for cleaning up Duke’s rear, and Rick and Daryl were responsible for the two sides at the back.
“This is a good thing.” Duke picked up the bulletproof shield on the ground and threw it to Maggie behind him.
“Damn it, back off.” Duke checked the corner and quickly backed to the wall. The others all stepped back nervously.
It turned out that there was a large group of zombies at another door at the corner. It seemed that there was more than one door on the second floor of the prison.
Get ready. Maggie, give me the shield. Rick, I’ll take care of all the zombies at the door, and you close the door quickly.
And from the farthest distance ahead came a few zombies wearing explosion-proof suits.
Two people wearing explosion-proof suits also walked in from the other door.
Duke kicked the explosion-proof zombie blocking his way to the ground, and then he hit another one with his explosion-proof shield.
“Rick, follow me.” Duke dealt with two zombies at the corner and quickly told Rick to lock the door.
The other people surrounded the remaining two zombies. They couldn’t cut them with knives, shoot them with arrows, or kick them. It was very difficult.
Duke rushed forward and cut off half of the head of a zombie that had just come out. He then kicked a zombie that was about to come out in and crushed several zombies.
Rick pulled the roller door over and closed it with a click.
“hurry up.”
“alright.”
Duke turned around to help his teammate who was in trouble because of two explosion-proof zombies.
Duke reached out and grabbed the zombie’s neck, leaned back, and stabbed the zombie’s neck with a knife.
“Did you see that?” said his teammate as he looked at him.
Glenn and Maggie followed suit, one grabbed him from behind and the other stabbed him in the neck with a dagger.
It was easy to deal with the remaining zombies.
Chapter 25, Check-in to Prison (Old Version)
The prison’s second barrier door was declared breached.
“It looks much safer.” Maggie looked at the small yard that had been cleared for play.
“That yard over there doesn’t look safe.” Duke pointed to where the fight had just taken place.
“There’s a civilian here. It looks like the prison may be filled with zombies pouring in from outside.” Daryl pointed at a zombie lying on the ground.
“What if there are holes in the iron railings? We can’t just rebuild this place.” Glenn said worriedly.
“We can’t leave any blind spots, let’s go in.” Rick took the lead and walked into the prison in the second area.
Enter the prison through the iron bars and come to the gate. Rick opens the door and Duke prepares to fight.
Rick pulled the door and slowly pushed it open. Duke was ready to draw his knife, but what came into view was a guardrail door made of iron bars. Duke breathed a sigh of relief. Duke, who had already exerted all his strength, suddenly retracted it, and it felt a little dull and uncomfortable.
Behind the iron gate is a staircase, an empty prison dining room inside, and at the innermost is a surveillance tower room for prison police.
Duke walked up quietly, and saw a guard with a headshot dead in front of the monitor. Hanging on his waist was a key to the inner prison.
Duke took the key and stabbed the body responsibly.
The key opened the first iron gate, and several people quickly occupied the advantageous terrain, which was a typical two-story prison housing for criminals.
There were some items scattered on the ground, and there were one or two prisoners who had been shot in each prison cell.
“The first floor is safe, Rick, you and Daryl go up and take a look. There are noises, they should be the imprisoned zombies.”
Daryl and Rick came to the second floor and saw zombies locked in cells. It seemed that they were trapped to death inside.
Daryl and Rick sent them home one by one.
Afterwards, Maggie went outside to pick up her teammates, and the others cleaned up the prison in this area.
“What do you think?” Rick asked Duke on the first floor after clearing the zombies on the second floor, which was actually thrown down from the second floor.
“It feels like home.” Duke greeted Amy and said casually.
“Is it safe here?” asked Corolla who just came in. She felt the most unsafe here. There was nothing she could do. She understood her.
“This is the only way for now.” Hershel answered Corolla’s question calmly.
“This unit area is safe.” Rick answered his partner who came in affirmatively.
“What about the rest of the prison?” Hershel asked.
“We will go find the restaurant, infirmary and other supply rooms tomorrow morning. Everyone is a little tired today, so let’s clean up this area first and rest here.” Duke answered Hershel and others.
“Are we sleeping in jail tonight?” Beth asked weakly.
“I found the key from the prison guard, and Rick has a set too.”
“I don’t want to sleep in a cage. I’m going to sleep upstairs.” Carol took Sophia and several female relatives to the second floor.
“It’s so disgusting, it looks like a storage room.” Amy looked at the cell that had just been cleared with disdain.
“Actually, it’s quite comfortable. Give it a try.” Looking at Duke who was smiling at her, Amy changed her mind again.
Duke smiled and said nothing, then reached out to hug Amy and kissed her gently on the forehead.
The other teammates found accommodation to rest on their own.
“Pretty good, flash bombs, powerful grenades…” Rick and his friends were fiddling with the weapons they had looted from the zombies and occupied areas today in the small activity area vacated by the prisoners in the prison.
“I don’t know if it will work on the zombies.” Daryl looked at the flash bomb Rick was fiddling with.
“You’d better take it with you, just in case.”
“I’m not wearing this shit.” Daryl picked up the explosion-proof helmet that he had stripped from an explosion-proof zombie.
“You can disinfect it with boiling water.” Morgan picked up an explosion-proof glove with disgusting night fluid on it and responded to Daryl’s words.
“Come on, there’s not enough firewood in the woods.”
“Herschel.” It was Carola who came to let Hershel over.
“Are you okay?” Rick asked worriedly. The only person who could call Hershel was Laura, who was about to give birth.
“It’s okay. There’s nothing to worry about.”
“I feel like I can’t keep the baby in my belly.” As soon as Hershel entered Laura’s residence, he saw Laura say this to him.
Can t you feel the baby moving?
“Not at all. But no contractions either.”
“At first I thought it was fatigue or malnutrition. If we’re both infected, so is the baby. What if the baby is stillborn?”
Laura said, looking at Hershel worriedly.
“What if the baby dies in the womb?”
What if it bursts out?
“Don’t let fear take over your heart.” Hershel encouraged and comforted Laura who was in a bad state.
“OK, let’s say the baby survives and I die in childbirth.”
“That won’t happen.” Hershel interrupted Laura’s wild guess.
“Of course not. In the modern medical age, many women die in childbirth.” Laura said to Hershel with a wry smile.
“What if I wake up again and attack the child? Or you, or Rick? Or Carl? If that happens, kill me immediately. If the child and I are both zombies, don’t hesitate. Kill us. Don’t hesitate, don’t try to save us.” Laura was crying.
“OK?” Laura looked at Hershel to get her affirmative answer.
Hershel nodded silently.
Rick, Duke and the others are getting dressed and putting on the explosion-proof suits they had confiscated yesterday. They are preparing to explore other areas.
“You can’t use this.” Rick looked at the man fiddling with the explosion-proof helmet.
“I need you to stay here.”
“You must be kidding.”
“We don’t know what’s going on in there. If anything happens to us, you’ll be the last man standing. I need you to stay here and take charge.”
“no problem.”
Watching the conversation between the father and son, Duke curled his lips. These Americans are just precocious. Carl is so young this year, and Rick, as his father, is talking to him like this, and he can actually understand it.
“Okay, let’s go.” Rick handed the key in his hand to Carl.
“Take care, and remember to come back safely.” Amy touched Duke’s clothes with some reluctance.
“I will.” Duke gave Amy a Cooper Keys.
The group came to the second area of ??the prison. This area was different from where they lived. It was pitch black, like a tunnel.
Duke walked in the front with a high-powered flashlight, a bullet-proof shield in his hand and a sword on his waist, ready to fight in the shortest possible time.
On the dark floor, the light shone down, and corpses were lying on the ground in all directions. Some of the corpses were so badly dug that only skeletons were left. It was obvious that a fierce battle had taken place here.
The intricate prison cells were randomly opened, making people afraid to step in. Glenn was at the back of the team, using a spray paint to mark the direction.
Every time they turned a corner, everyone’s heart was in their throat, and they had no idea what was waiting for them at the next corner.
Even Duke couldn’t keep calm in this situation, and he tightened his hands around the shield. His sword was already unsheathed.
“Go back, quickly, there are zombies.” After turning several corners, Duke found a wandering zombie behind a corpse whose blood had not yet completely coagulated.
Everyone retreated quickly, and the zombies woke up at once, swarming into all the passages.
The passage that had been checked before was also filled with zombies. Everyone fled in panic. Glenn and Maggie were at the back and were cut off by the zombies. They were separated from the main group.
Chapter 26, Cleaning up the Attack (Old Version)
“Glenn, where’s Maggie?” Rick and his crew ran to a prison cell and hid, only to find that they had lost the two.
“We have to go back.”
“But which way?”
Looking at my teammates, it was obvious that we had to go back the same way we came.
Duke held up his shield with the tip of his knife facing outward, ready to fight, followed by Daryl, the archer responsible for long-range attacks.
“Dad.” A faint voice came to Hershel’s ears from the side.
He did not even inform his teammates to go towards the direction of the sound, but went there alone.
But when he walked past a corpse lying on the ground, he did not notice that the corpse was not alive, and the zombie pretending to be a corpse grabbed his foot and bit it.
No, ah…ah…” The miserable screams alarmed Duke and others who were searching in front.
They ran to where the sound came from. Rick took the lead and shot the zombie. But it was too late, Hershel had been bitten.
“No.” Maggie and Glenn also ran over from the corner in front.
“Maggie.” Hershel was still worried about Maggie.
“Dad, no.” Looking at Hershel who was bitten, Maggie felt indescribable pain.
The sound attracted the zombies, and a large group of them rushed in from the passage in front.
“Duke, we need your help.” Rick called out to Duke loudly as he saw the zombies coming over.
“We’re blocked.” Daryl reported from behind. It turned out that zombies were coming from behind.
They had no choice but to carry Hershel and retreat from the direction Maggie and Glenn came from.
Duke was blocking the zombies in front. However, there were too many zombies. No matter how strong Duke was, it was useless. As long as the zombies’ brains were not damaged, they would not die. Duke held the shield in one hand to protect his body, and with the other hand, he tried his best to kill the zombies. He killed and retreated at the same time.
“Rick, find a place to hide quickly. I can’t hold on for much longer.” Duke loudly informed Rick while hacking and killing.
Rick and the others behind came to a room locked with handcuffs, which might be their final hiding place.
“Open the door now.”
Glenn thrust an iron rod in and used it to pull it apart.
“Go in, go in quickly.”
Duke pushed the zombie away with all his strength, turned around and ran into the room and locked the door.
The zombies outside were banging on the door, the situation was very critical.
Rick, Maggie, and Daryl deal with Hershel.
“hurry up,”
Rick pulled off the clothes where Hershel was bitten, and a huge bite mark appeared in front of him, and the blood was turning black. This was the rhythm of infection.
“Hold him down,” Rick said to Daryl and Glenn, then pulled out his unused knife from his waist.
He pulled off the belt from around his waist and tied Hershel’s legs.
Then he picked up the knife and chopped it off Hershel’s leg. Apparently Rick’s knife skills were not good enough, and it took him several chops to cut off the injured calf. Hershel fainted from the pain.
Five heads suddenly popped out from behind him. They were humans, not zombies.
Daryl points a crossbow at them.
“What the hell.” One of them exclaimed as he looked at the situation in front of him.
Rick and his friends didn’t care about the few people. They opened the door, pushed a food cart, put Hershel on it and walked towards the temporary residence. This place used to be a restaurant, but they didn’t care about it anymore.
Duke killed a zombie in front and cleared the way for the team.
Arrived at the first area of ??the prison (small dining room, the second area where Duke and others lived. The third area is where we just went.)
“Herschel is in trouble, open the door quickly.” Rick shouted to his son in the second district.
Rick and others quickly transported Hershel to the bed after Carl opened the door.
He was bitten.
Will he turn into a zombie?
“We cut off his legs.”
“Hopefully the one who comes wins.”
“One, two, three.” They shouted and carried Hershel to the bed.
“I need a strap.” Carola lifted up her bound legs.
We ve run out of medical supplies.
“Then find something else.”
“Carl, go get the towel next to my bed.” Laura said to her son.
“Will he turn into a zombie?” Beth asked Amy who was beside her. In the team, Amy and Beth were not much different in age, and they quickly became very close.
“He’ll be fine.” Amy comforted Beth. Beth was not very resistant to this kind of thing. Not long ago, her mother was killed by zombies in front of her. Now it was her father. She was not as strong as Maggie.
“Can you stabilize his injury?” Rick asked Corolla, the only person here who had been taught some medical knowledge by Hershel.
“We need to lift his legs up and get some pillows.”
“You can use fire to stop the bleeding. I’ll make a fire.” In a hurry, Glenn could only think of this solution which was not a solution.
“Please don’t, no, he won’t be able to withstand the fire.” Beth was afraid that Glenn would really burn her to stop the bleeding.
Duke couldn’t help himself seeing this, he wanted to use his water of life to save him, but when they cut Hershel’s legs, he thought about it, but a voice in his mind told him that the water could only be used by him and it would be ineffective if used by others.
Duke wanted to scold Nuliang, saying that this great god was such a jerk. Obviously, the great god couldn’t let him mess things up. If everyone was drooling, would there still be zombies? There would be no need for the zombie world to exist.
Duke felt a little guilty as he could not help here, so he came to Area 1. Daryl was holding a crossbow and aiming at the door of Area 1. The door was not closed. What was he thinking?
Before Duke could get over there, the people he met in the restaurant came here.
“Don’t come near.” Daryl pointed a crossbow at the men.
“We’re in cell number four, Yankee. Let me in.
“Said one of the men in prisoner clothes.
“You guys are lucky today. Georgia has pardoned you and you can go.” Daryl was still pointing at them.
“What’s the situation inside?” The same guy asked.
“It’s none of your business.”
“It’s not your decision.” The man prepared to take out the pistol from his waist.
“If you dare to move again, try to see if this gun is powerful enough.” Duke was on the second floor, pointing the cannon at them.
Several people were frightened when they saw this big guy, and their faces turned pale, even though they were black.
“Hey man, calm down.” The strongest black man said to Duke.
“Man, that guy’s legs are broken, and we’re all free, why are we still here?”
“He’s right. I want to find my wife too,” said another black man.
“Ordinary citizens suddenly break into the prison. I guess this means they have nowhere else to go.” The man with the pistol, who seemed to be the leader, continued.
“You can go out and take a look.”
“We’re just about to go out.” said a guy who looked very German.
We re not leaving.
“You can’t come in either.” Morgan came out and pointed a gun at the man with the gun.
“This is my territory and I am the boss. I can go wherever I want.” He pointed the gun at Morgan.
“Bang…Bang” a loud gunshot echoed in the prison cell.
“Ah…” The man with the pistol grabbed the hand that had just held the gun and screamed in pain.
“Sorry.” Duke’s voice came from upstairs. He was the one who fired the gun just now. The gun blew up with one shot, and he couldn’t fire the gun anymore. By the way, he also shot off the guy’s finger on the trigger.
“What happened? Who fired the gun?”
“The remaining prisoners must have triggered us, so Duke fired the gun.” Rick explained. He was outside the cell and probably knew something.
“What.” Everyone was a little flustered. They couldn’t bear to hear messages from strangers.
“It’s okay, don’t move.” Rick said to everyone.
“Glenn, you stay by his side. If he dies, you have to be prepared to clean up the mess. Can you do it? Maggie will be there too.” Rick pulled Glenn aside.
“I can.” Glenn made a difficult decision.
“Or I’ll let Daryl come.”
“I can.”
“Very good.” Then he walked towards area one.
Carl followed behind him and locked the door. It seemed that the little guy knew his duty very well.
Chapter 27, Prison Criminals (Old Edition)
“Don’t be impulsive.” Rick ran out and said, watching the people who were shot by Duke rioting.
“How many of you are there?” asked the four-fingered man (formerly the pistol man) as he saw another person coming out.
More than you think.
“Did you rob a bank? Why didn’t you take him to a regular hospital?” He was still very suspicious of these people.
“How long have you been trapped in the cafeteria?” After hearing the four-fingered man’s question, several people looked at each other and Rick asked them.
“Ten months.”
“Prison riot, the likes of which I’ve never seen before,” interjected the strongest black man.
“Have you heard of ogres? Resurrection from the dead?” Four Fingers said again.
“A prison guard locked us in the cafeteria to protect us. He told us not to move, gave me a gun, and said he would be back soon. Damn it.” The last sentence was said to Duke. Duke was in a bad mood at that time, so he fired without control. Fortunately, the gunshot hit the back of the pistol, otherwise it would not be a finger problem.
“But 292 days have passed.” Muscle Guy interrupted again.
I thought the military or the National Guard was coming back to rescue us.
“No army,” Rick said.
“What’s the meaning?”
“There’s no government, no hospitals, no police, nothing.”
“Really?” the German asked. (Don’t blame me for giving nicknames, I can’t remember them.)
“real.”
“What about my mother?” Muscle Guy is obviously a mom-con.
“Where are my children and my wife?” This slightly smaller muscle guy, whom we will temporarily call Strong Man, asked Rick with a sad face, but he was obviously sad.
“Do you have a cell phone or something? Let us call home.” The strong man was so naive.
“Nothing worked, and for all we know, at least half the people are dead. Possibly more.”
“The sunshine feels so good.” Rick led them to the ground.
“Oh my God, they’re all dead.” The muscular man sighed as he looked at the dead bodies on the ground.
“I never thought I would be so happy to see these barbed wires again.” The four-fingered man exclaimed to the iron fence in front of him.
“You haven’t told me how you got in.” The four-fingered man seemed a little arrogant.
“There was a hole in the wire fence next to the guard tower.”
“What is going on? Is this an infectious disease?” The muscular man poked the zombie on the ground with a stick.
“Yes, and we are all infected.” Rick replied bitterly.
“What does ‘infected’ mean? Like AIDS or something?” It’s obvious that he has no sense of humor.
“If I kill you and shoot an arrow at your chest, you’ll turn into this.” Daryl pointed at the zombies on the ground and said to several prisoners.
“Are we all like this?” The German had always had a strong desire for knowledge.
“Where are you from?” the leader, Four-Finger Man, asked Rick arrogantly.
“Atlanta.”
Where to go.
At the moment, I won t go there.
“You can stay near the water source, it should be quite comfortable.”
We re going to use that land to grow crops.
We ll help you move your stuff out.
“No need, we have eliminated these zombies, and this prison belongs to us. If you still want your other hands, shut up.” Duke stood on the fence with a cannon in his hand, looking at the arrogant four-fingered man in the small square.
“Wait, we can have the best of both worlds.” Seeing some prisoners who wanted to riot coming over, he quickly stood up. But why does this guy look so much like a Jew?
“I don’t think it’s possible.”
“Me too.”
I will never go back to that cafeteria.
“You can leave and try your luck outside.” Daryl said to him politely. It would be better if you put down the crossbow arrows aimed at him first.
“If these three sissies can kill so many zombies, then we can also clear out a cell block.” Brother Four Fingers looked at the current situation, which seemed to be in a disadvantageous position for him.
“What to use to clean it?” Muscle Brother gave a very constructive suggestion.
“This dude’s gonna give us some real weapons, right, boss?” Four Fingers asked Rick.
“How much food is in stock in the cafeteria?” Rick did not respond directly.
“There must be a lot, otherwise these five guys could have lived in there for almost a year.” Duke said this as the smoke from his cigarette wafted out of his mouth.
“Only a little is left.” Brother Four Fingers replied stubbornly.
“We want half. In exchange, we’ll help you clear out a cell block.” Duke obviously didn’t want to waste any more words.
“Didn’t you hear? There’s only a little left.” A thin black man seemed to support his big brother.
“You have no choice, exchange food. We will help you clean up.”
“Okay.” It was obvious that the leader didn’t want to suffer a loss.
“Let me say this right here. If I see you touch any hair of my people, or even smell the slightest bit of your scent, I will kill you.” Rick warned these people.
“make a deal.”
“The food storage room is in the back.” The four-fingered man led Rick and others to the cafeteria again.
Seeing the two shelves filled with food in front of them, everyone was stunned. They hadn’t seen so much food since the disaster.
Is this what you call a little food?
Everyone divided the work and started carrying the food.
“He hasn’t woken up yet?” Rick came to Area 3 with two bags of cornmeal and said to Laura as he passed by Hershel’s ward.
“Take out my handcuffs and handcuff him. I can’t take any risks.” Rick said to Glenn.
“What happened to the prisoners?” Laura asked, following Rick.
We live over here, and they live over there.
Under the same roof?
I m not giving up this prison.
Do they have guns?
“No more. Duke broke the one they had.”
Looking at the axes and steel bars on the table, the prisoners were speechless.
“Why use this when you can use a gun?”
“Unless you are in desperate situation, it is best not to use guns. They will follow the sound.”
“You have to aim at the head, and these zombies will really die.”
“You don’t need to tell us how to kill people,” the leader seemed to dislike the class very much.
They are not people, they are something else.
“Remember, aim for the head.”
Several people began to head to the fourth area to clean up.
“What happened?” Maggie came to her father’s ward and saw Glenn handcuffed her father’s hands to the bed.
“We have to do this,” Carola said to Maggie.
“Just in case,” Glenn chimed in.
“Can you please let me be alone with him for some time?” Maggie said painfully.
It s too dark in here.
I hear them.
“Shut up.” Duke whispered in front.
A swaying shadow was moving towards them in the passage ahead.
A zombie appeared, followed by another.
Before Duke and others could respond to the battle, five criminals rushed forward in a swarm.
The criminals cooperated well. Two muscular men grabbed the zombies from behind, while the others attacked them frantically with their weapons.
Duke, Rick and Daryl in the back shook their heads and smiled.
“I thought you were sorting the food.” Glenn said to Carl who was walking in from the door.
“It’s better than you think.” Carl walked over with a bag he had found from somewhere.
“Look what this is.” Carl threw the bag on the ground and said to the people in front of the bed.
Several people opened the package, which was full of medical supplies.
“Where did you find it from?”
“Infirmary, there aren’t many left, I brought them all.”
“Did you go there by yourself?” Laura asked.
“Yes.” This frightened Laura. Others were also shocked.
Are you crazy?
“No big deal, I killed two zombies.”
Several people were surprised at what Carl said so lightly.
Chapter 28, Prisoner Riot (Old Edition)
Duke and others came to a gate. The five criminals were the main force, and they wanted to teach these people how to hunt zombies.
“Like this?” a guy says after killing a zombie with a rebar.
“Keep in formation, this is not a prison fight.” Rick reminded after killing a zombie.
Rick and others used flashlights to illuminate the people in the back. The prisoners stood in a row and blocked the door. Fortunately, there were not many zombies, only two or three at most, and they could handle it.
The muscular man couldn’t stand this situation and slowly moved back. After he left, the mechanical zombie attacked him from behind, but he was already a little scared. After killing the transplant, he was scratched by another zombie and got infected.
“I told you, I don’t feel anything.”
“Sorry mate.”
“I can keep fighting.”
The injured muscle man was forced to ask everyone to stop fighting.
“Didn’t you cure the old man who was bitten?” said the short black man.
“Where is the bite?”
“Dude, I’m fine.” The muscular man emphasized.
“We have to do something. Why are you just standing there?”
“We can save him,” the little man argued.
“There’s nothing we can do.” Rick said apologetically.
“Bitch.” The little guy can still curse.
“I’m fine.” The muscular man wanted to say something, but Qie was killed by the axe of the leader behind him.
The guy, who was still not satisfied after smashing the body, took an axe and started to chop the muscular man’s body desperately.
On the other side, Carola pulled Glenn to the wall outside the prison.
“Laura had a caesarean section when she gave birth to Calder, and now she needs a caesarean section too. Originally, Hershel could do it, but obviously Hershel can’t sit up. I need experience now, and there are so many corpses outside for me to practice with.”
“Why not?” Glenn prepared to take action.
“Wait, let me do it.” Carola pulled Glenn.
Corolla took the steel bar and stabbed it into the female zombie’s eye socket.
The marching teams in the prison continued to clean up inside.
“Did you see his expression?” Daryl said to Rick and Duke about the leader. The three of them were in the back.
“If he has any ill intentions, I will kill him.” Duke expressed his thoughts.
Rick said nothing and agreed.
In front of them they came to a laundry room, which contained a lot of clean clothes, but of course they were just prison uniforms.
A series of roars came from behind the other door of the laundry room, apparently telling everyone that there were zombies behind the door.
Rick grabbed the key and threw it at Four Fingers’ feet.
“I’m not opening the door.”
You have to.
“If you want this cell block, you have to open the door.”
Open only one door, not both. We need to control the situation.
The leader picked up the key and prepared to open the door.
“Are you ready?” Brother Four Fingers is about to open the door and greets you in advance. If you think he’s good, you’re wrong.
“Don’t worry.” It turned out that Brother Four Fingers couldn’t open the door when he wanted to.
Then he suddenly opened both doors.
“I said only open one door.” Rick cursed loudly at the group of zombies behind the door.
“Things change all the time.” It was obvious that Brother Four Fingers didn’t want to live anymore.
No matter what conflicts they had, everyone started killing the zombies.
The leader suddenly picked up an axe and was about to chop at the zombies, but then he changed direction and chopped at Rick.
Fortunately, Rick was very vigilant and did not let him succeed.
Seeing that he failed, the Four-Finger Man rushed into the pile of zombies, grabbed a zombie and pinned Rick to the ground.
Rick struggles with the zombies.
“Daryl, fill in.” After Duke killed the zombies in front of him, he moved a step towards Rick, pulled out his dagger and inserted it into the zombie’s head, kicked the zombie away and took Rick with him.
By the time they got up, the zombies had already been dealt with.
Seeing Rick approaching the Four-Finger Man, the Four-Finger Man panicked. Duke had the chance to kill him with a single blow, but he didn’t, and wanted to leave the Four-Finger Man for Rick to deal with himself.
“It came at me, man.” Four-Finger Man said stubbornly, with his mouth pulled.
“Yes, I understand.” Ruierkang seemed easy to talk to.
“I understand. Things change all the time.” Rick looked at Four Fingers in silence for a while. Then he suddenly raised the knife in his hand and chopped it down on Four Fingers’ head.
No The little guy standing on the side chopped it off.
He picked up a baseball bat and tried to hit Rick, but was kicked to the ground by Duke. Daryl aimed a crossbow at the rest of the people.
The little guy struggled for a few seconds and then ran in the direction where the zombies came from.
“I’ll go after him.” Rick chased after him.
There are only wife men left here, German Jews.
“Get down. Put down your weapon.” The man pointed at by a crossbow actually surrendered on the ground.
“We have nothing to do with what happened just now. Tell them quickly, Oscar.” The Jew said anxiously to his companions.
“Stop it, man.” Oscar said to the Jews in surrender. It turns out that the wife man is called Oscar, which is a very suitable name for him.
Rick chased after the little guy in front of him. The little guy was not big, but he was very fast. Rick couldn’t catch up with him for a while, and almost lost him at a fork in the road. If the little guy hadn’t made a loud noise when pushing the iron gate, Rick might have lost him. When Rick caught up, he found that the little guy had run to a balcony. There was no way here, and there were many zombies. The little guy wanted to go back from the balcony, but Rick had already caught up with him. He saw that the little guy wanted to come out, so he grabbed the iron gate and closed it.
“Let me out.” Looking at the zombies surrounding him, the little guy begged Rick in panic.
“You’d better run.” Rick said, and then he closed the second iron door, isolating the balcony. All that could be heard was screams.
Looking at her father lying on the hospital bed, Maggie was very sad.
Suddenly she felt some heavy breathing. She felt a little solemn. When she saw her father’s abdomen begin to rise and fall, she swallowed her saliva, perhaps unable to accept that her father was about to turn into a corpse.
Maggie stood up in panic, alarming Beth and Carl who were outside the door.
“Help, help.” Beth cried out in pain as she watched her father changing.
Laura heard the call and ran over. Seeing Hershel’s condition, she urgently gave him first aid.
Seeing that she was still not getting better, Laura started to give Hershel artificial respiration. Before she had done two times, Hershel grabbed her head with both hands. This scared Maggie and Beth who were standing nearby, and they quickly separated Laura and Hershel.
After separating, Hershel closed his mouth and eyes, shaking violently on the bed.
The three of them should not be scared and curl up against the wall. Carl would then point a gun at Hershel and shoot him at any time if he showed any sign of misbehavior.

Rick, who had just come back from chasing someone, saw Oscar kneeling on the ground and pointed the gun at his head.
“That has nothing to do with us.”
“Don’t you know? You must know.”
“Darryl, it’s all over now,” Rick said excitedly, turning back to the Jew.
Rick was really angry, and he almost died at the hands of these people.
“Sir, please listen to me. It was Axel’s fault. He is a bad guy and has nothing to do with us.” The Jew tried his best to distance himself from the matter.
“You guys are dreaming.”
“You saw what he did to Muscle Man, he’s my best friend, please, we are different from him.”
“I like to tinker with drugs, but I won’t kill anyone. Oscar is a maintenance man, and he won’t kill anyone either.”
“We are not bloodthirsty killers, they are.”
“Please, I swear it’s true, I don’t want to die.” The Jew begged Rick at the top of his lungs.
Rick suddenly pointed the gun at Oscar.
“What about you?” he asked, looking at Oscar.
“I never begged for mercy before, and I won’t do that now.” Oscar looked at Rick with dignity.
“You can kill me or chop me up as you like.” Rick stared at Os’s eyes for a while.
He looked up at Duke and Daryl.
Duke and Daryl gave each other a look that said you’ve made up your mind.
They took the two to the fourth area where the active zombies had just been cleared.
The format of Area 4 was the same as Area 3, except that the prisoners who had been shot were lying in a regular pattern on the ground. They were obviously killed by the prison guards during the disaster.
“Oh my God, I know these people.” Oscar said as he entered the room and looked at the dead bodies on the ground.
They are all good people.: The Jew added.
“Let’s go.” Rick said to Duke and Daryl.
Jews: Are you just going to leave us here?
“This is too cruel.” Oscar said to Rick with a bitter face.
“We will seal off this cell block. From now on, this part of the prison belongs to you. Take it or not, this is the original decision.” After saying this, several people left.
Chapter 29: The Fish That Slipped Through the Net (Old Version)
“Herschel just stopped breathing. Mom saved him.” said Rick Carl who came in.
“It’s true.” Glenn also helped to confirm.
Hershel and his gang were lying quietly on the hospital bed.
The sound of people gathering around seemed to wake him up. His eyes moved slightly, and then he slowly opened his eyes.
Everyone stared at Hershel’s eyes as they watched him move.
These are a pair of eyes with clear black and white. Hershel made it through.
“dad.”
“Dad.” Maggie and Beth shouted happily.
Rick, who was standing by, saw that Hershel was fine and quickly removed the handcuffs on his hands.
Hershel held out his hand to thank Rick.
Looking at Hershel like this, Rick squatted down and stayed with Hershel tightly.
Rick looked at Hershel and then at everyone, and everyone smiled knowingly.
On the other side, Carola was playing an anatomy game alone at the edge of the prison, but she didn’t notice a malicious look in the woods.
Early the next morning, everyone began to clean up the dead bodies throughout the prison.
“We have to move the cars and gather all the bodies and burn them together. It will take a whole day.”
“We are shorthanded, where are Maggie and Glenn, we are shorthanded.” Rick asked Duke.
Not sure.
“On the watchtower.” Daryl pointed at the watchtower in the distance and smiled at them.
“Watchtower?” Several people looked at the watchtower in the distance with a smile on their faces.
They went up last night.
“Glenn, Maggie!” Daryl shouted at the watchtower at the top of his voice.
“What’s going on, guys?” Glenn emerged from the sentry room in the watchtower. The shameful thing was that he was half-naked and was still holding up his pants.
Another Maggie’s figure also flashes in the house.
“Are you here?” the people below teased him.
“What?” He still didn’t understand what was going on.
“Are you coming or not?” Daryl continued to tease him.
Glenn looked confused and really couldn’t understand what it meant.
“Hurry up, we don’t have enough people.” Looking at this unromantic guy, everyone gave up teasing him.
“Okay, we’ll be right down.”
“A bunch of perverts.” Maggie then understood the profound meaning.
“Rick.” Duke saw the only two remaining prisoners get out of their cell and come outside.
Follow me.
“Don’t come any closer. We agreed.” Rick said in front of the two men.
“Please sir, we know that, but you have to understand, those dead bodies are people we knew, and we can’t live there anymore.”
“You can burn the bodies like we did.”
“We thought so too, but every time we tried to move the bodies out, the iron bars at the other end of the prison were broken. Every time we tried to go out, those guys surrounded us.” Oscar explained the reason.
“As long as we join you, we are willing to work like slaves for you.” The Jews were obviously spineless.
“Please, don’t leave us there.”
“There is no room for negotiation. Either you stay in that cell block or leave the prison.” Rick rejected the Jewish request to join the army.
“I’m really wasting my time on this. They are birds of a feather with the people who killed us. Do you know how many old friends we’ve moved in these days? They’re all good people. They fought against the bullies in prison with us. We made mistakes and were put in jail, but you have to know that we’ve already paid the price. We’d rather go out and explore the world than stay in this damn place.” Oscar said affectionately.
After listening to this, Rick looked at Daryl and Duke and asked for their opinions. Duke and Daryl looked at each other and shook their heads.
They decided to let the two go, kicked them out and locked the door.
“If we let them live next door to you, they will take the opportunity to steal our weapons. Do you want to sleep uneasy?” Rick explained to T.
“I never sleep well,” T replied. T was also black, and he felt a little sympathetic towards the two men.
“Let them join. Letting them leave is almost a death sentence for them.” At this time, Tzai had some inheritance from the dead Dell.
“We’ve gone through so much trouble to get here, what if they want to steal?” Carolla said his thoughts.
“We have always fought side by side, they are strangers, I don’t… it feels a bit strange to have these people around me suddenly.” This is what Maggie said.
“At the end of the day, they’re criminals,” Duke said, citing their subconscious reasons for rejection.
“When I was a police officer, I arrested a kid, 19 years old, who was wanted for killing his girlfriend. During the interrogation and trial, the kid cried bitterly and deceived the jury. He was later released due to insufficient evidence. Two weeks later, he shot and killed another girl. We have been through too much, and the agreement we made with them will not change.”
“Take your time.” Laura and the others made a crutch for Hershel.
They helped Hershel walk outside.
Rick and his men began to clean up the entire prison and block the entire fence.
“We have to get rid of all the zombies. I don’t want to grow crops on rotten flesh.” Rick rarely showed black humor.
“Look at that, he’s a real tough guy.” Daryl pointed at Hershel who just appeared in his field of vision.
“Are you okay? Hershel?” Glenn shouted to him excitedly.
“Can’t we just have a day of peace? Look at you.” Duke complained as he looked at the zombies attracted by Glenn’s voice.
“Zombies, be careful.” Carl was discovered by the zombies walking out from behind him.
All these zombies had escaped from the prison. At this moment, the zombies were behind Hershel and the others, but these women were helpless.
“Leave quickly, go quickly.” Looking at the zombies getting closer and closer, several men standing in the distance shouted at the top of their voices.
“Get out of there, quick.” Rick, Daryl, and Duke ran desperately towards the women.
However, when they arrived, the doors were locked one by one. They had to use the keys to open them one by one, but it was probably too late by the time they dared to arrive.
Duke’s eyes turned red with anxiety as he watched the zombies approaching Amy. Seeing the danger getting closer and closer, he no longer dared to hide his feelings. If he watched Amy die in such a situation, he didn’t know if he could bear it.
With a leap, he climbed over a wall of thin iron bars like a monkey climbing a tree. Climbing over a 3-meter-high bar was very strenuous and could even cause injury. He rolled on the ground and rushed forward, taking a sip of the life fountain he carried with him, which was virtualized into a portable wine bottle.
Then he repeated these actions, leaving Rick, Daryl, who was running, and Glenn, who was locking the door, stunned.
He climbed over five walls in one breath. In less than a minute, he came to Amy and Hershelbeth who were cornered by the zombies on the stairs. He helped them out of danger with one knife. Then Duke led the charge, led them through the first area, came to the cleared grass, and closed the door behind them.
“You guys stay here.” After saying that, Duke rushed towards the isolation gate of Area 1, otherwise he would be piled to death by the zombies.
But it was too late. T, who was trying to lock the door, was bitten on the shoulder by a zombie behind him.
Maggie, Laura and Carl were forced to return to District 3. No one knew what was going on inside.
After Duke killed all the living zombies in the first area, he took a look at the fence.
“What just happened?” Rick, who had arrived, asked Duke, who had gone ahead.
“The fence was opened, T-boy was bitten, and Maggie took Laura and Carl to the third area.
Rick looked at the two people walking out of the meadow.
You think it was them?
Not them, but who else.
Suddenly, a shrill alarm sounded throughout the prison.
“Stop it.” Duke raised his hand and shot the speaker above his head. Slowly, the zombies in the surrounding woods approached the prison.
“How could this happen?” Rick honked and walked up to Oscar, pointing a gun at him.
“It must have been the backup generator. Someone turned it on,” Oscar explained.
“Come with us, there is no time to waste.”
Led by Oscar, they came to the engine room, but the zombies behind them followed. Daryl and Duke held the door open so that Oscar could take Rick to turn off the generator.
A figure was recovered from behind the generator, holding an axe, and he smashed at Rick.
It was the little black guy, he wasn’t dead. He did it.
Rick rolled around with him, but Rick, who had just wasted a lot of energy killing zombies and running, was obviously no match for the little guy. When he saw Rick being thrown to the ground and about to be chopped by the little guy’s axe, Oscar on the side picked up an oil barrel and hit the little guy, and Rick luckily escaped the axe.
Both men climbed to their feet, but Oscar picked up the pistol Rick had dropped from the ground and pointed it at them.
“If we shoot, we can take back the prison.” The little man encouraged from behind.
“What are you standing there for? This is our territory. Shoot him.”
The little man who looked at Oscar holding the gun but had no motive became excited.
“Bang…” Oscar turned the gun and killed the little guy.
“Let’s go.” Rick took the gun Oscar handed over, turned off the generator and said to others.
Chapter 30: A New Life (Old Version)
Maggie, Laura and Carl hid in the second area. When they were about to enter the third area, a group of zombies rushed out from the third area.
They were forced to retreat into the prison area that had not yet been cleared, where they were blocked on all sides and had no choice but to come to a utility room.
Laura, who had just come in, felt that something was wrong. Her water had broken and she was about to give birth.
“Mom, look at me and open your eyes.” Looking at Laura who slowly slid to the ground against the wall, Carl held her hand tightly.
“We have to get you to Hershel.” Maggie doesn’t have a medical certificate.
“I can’t hold on any longer.” Laura said to Maggie. She was very aware of her physical condition.
“You’ve lost a lot of blood. I think your uterus hasn’t opened yet. You can’t give birth no matter how hard you try.” Maggie looked at Laura who was still bleeding.
“I understand. I won’t lose my baby. You have to cut me open.”
No, I can t.
You have no choice.
“Should I go get someone to help?” Carl saw that his mother’s situation was a bit bad.
“No, Carl.”
“Carol was the only one of us who learned how to do dissection. Dad only taught me the simple steps, Laura.”
Please. Laura s condition was getting worse and worse.
“I don’t have any anesthesia or equipment.” Maggie shook her head. She really didn’t dare.
“Carl has a knife.” Laura looked at Carl who was standing next to her.
“You won’t survive this.” Maggie said to Laura painfully.
My baby has to live. Please, for the baby, for everyone. Please, Maggie.
Maggie wanted to behead him in agony, but she couldn’t bring herself to do it.
“Please.” Laura begged Maggie again and again.
“See the scar from my previous cesarean section?” Laura pulled up her clothes on her abdomen, revealing a long scar.
“I can’t do it.” Maggie said painfully, looking at the scar.
You can do it. You have to do it.
“Baby, take good care of your dad for me, and take good care of your brother or sister. You are very smart and very brave. I love you. You can survive in this world. I know you can.” Laura made her final instructions.
“I love you too.” Carl said sadly with tears in his eyes.
“Baby, sometimes you have to do things you don’t want to do. Promise me that you will always do the right thing and don’t let this world pollute you, my dear child. I love you.” Laura said this and hugged Carl with tears in her eyes.
“It’s all up to you now, Maggie.”
Maggie sadly took the knife that Carl handed to her with tears in his eyes.
“I’m sorry, Laura.” Maggie said and opened Laura’s old wound with a knife.
Laura suddenly felt a heart-wrenching pain coming from her stomach, and she screamed loudly, unable to bear it any longer.
“Carl, help me.” Maggie said to Carl who was looking at his mother.
Laura had fainted from the pain and would never wake up again. The utility room suddenly became very quiet, with only the sound of blood flowing.
“You have to make sure it’s clean and don’t cut the baby.” Maggie instructed Carl, and she reached her hand into the wound.
“I saw the baby and I’m going to pull it out.” Maggie said as if talking to herself.
Carl looked at his mother and saw that she was crying. He knew that his mother was dead.
“Okay.” Maggie took the baby out of her belly. The baby wasn’t breathing, and Maggie gave him some pressure.
“Ah, ah…” The baby’s clear cry surprised the two of them. The child was alive.
“We have to go.” Maggie stood up holding the child and said to Carl.
“We can’t just leave like this.” Carl stopped.
“She’ll turn into a zombie.” Maggie said to Laura on the ground.
“no.”
“She’s my mother.”
Maggie held the child and moved away a little.
Carl looked at his mother on the ground, his hand tightly clenched the gun in his hand, and he thought about what his father had said to him before.
“I won’t treat you as a child anymore. Everyone will die. Mom, you and I will have to face death one day.” Rick handed the gun to Carl.
Carl lay down and kissed his mother on the forehead, then raised the gun and shot Laura with difficulty and determination.
Then he calmly walked to Maggie and took her out.
Inside the prison corridor, a team led by Rick, Duke, and Daryl was searching inside.
There was some movement in the passage ahead. They quietly turned their eyes to see two zombies on the ground gnawing on a corpse.
“Bang… Bang…” Two shots killed the two zombies first.
When I walked in, I saw it was Tzai.
The passage was empty; they had finished their search.
“Have they gone out yet?”
“I think so.”
Several formed teams escaped from the prison, but they saw no one else in Hershel’s place.
“Just because T is dead doesn’t mean Corolla is dead too. Let’s go in again.” Daryl said. They were a little anxious just now.
The few people who were about to go in suddenly saw Maggie and Carl coming out of another door not far away, with Maggie holding a child in her arms.
Rick couldn’t believe it when he saw this scene.
“Where is she?” Rick asked Maggie anxiously.
“No, Rick, don’t go in.” Maggie tried to stop Rick.
Looking at Carl who was silent behind him, Rick couldn’t bear the blow anymore and started crying silently.
No, no
Rick collapsed to the ground, covering his face and burst into tears.
“Rick, are you still awake?” Rick Duke, who looked a little demented, was shaking in front of him. He might be a little collapsed.
“Let me see the baby, we need to feed the child.” Hershel said, looking at the child in Maggie’s arms.
“Do we have anything to eat for the child? Otherwise he will die immediately.” Hershel said to everyone while looking at the healthy child in his hands.
“We can’t lose any more people, I have to go out.” Duke said, he went out to find food for the children.
“I’ll go too,” said Maggie.
“I’ve got you covered,” Daryl said.
“I’ll go too,” Glenn said.
“Amy, Beth, let’s talk about where we want to go.” Duke called them both to his side.
“Carl just lost his mom, and his dad isn’t quite right.”
“I’ll take care of him.”
“Maggie, Daryl, Glenn, let’s go. The others, check where the fence is. If anything goes wrong we’re going to be in big trouble.”
Duke called out to the others.
“Rick.” Maggie looked at Rick, who stood up, picked up the axe on the ground, and went to the prison area where Maggie and the others had just come out.
“Hurry up, let him go. It’s getting dark, we have to act quickly.” Duke mobilized his teammates who were still in a daze.
“Laura has been telling me to keep an eye on what the baby eats, and I haven’t seen it,” Maggie said as she ran.
“Is there any place that hasn’t been completely looted?” Duke asked. This is Maggie’s hometown, and she should know it best.
“We saw the shopping center sign on the north side,” Glenn said of his discovery.
“Well, but there’s too much debris on the street and the car can’t get in,” Maggie added.
“I can take one of you,” Duke said.
“I’ll go with you,” said Maggie.
“Okay, Daryl, you and Glenn stay and look after everyone.” Duke ordered.
“Maggie, you’ve been through a lot. I’ll go.”
“I want to go. I have to go for Laura.” Maggie said firmly to her boyfriend who was trying to persuade her.
Okay. I love you, stay safe.
Chapter 31, Rick’s Trance (Old Version)
The Walking Dead: Chapter 31, Rick’s Trance
Rick angrily went into the prison with an axe.
Rick heard low roars from inside the iron gate.
He angrily opened the iron door and walked into the passage.
“Ah…” He chopped at the first zombie with all his strength.
Ah The second one.
“I’m hungry…” The third one.
“Ah…” He chopped the zombie’s head from top to bottom.
Ah He kicked the zombie away hard.
Rick, who was a little out of breath, looked at the zombies behind him.
Glenn was digging a hole by himself at the foot of the hill, apparently preparing to bury something.
“What’s up with the fence?” Glenn asked Oscar and the other man who had just walked over.
“The zombies are scattered. Do you need help?” the Jew said to Glenn.
Glenn said nothing, turned around and prepared to continue digging.
“Your friends are good people,” said the Jew.
“They are my family.” Glenn said seriously.
“I only have this one lifelong friend in my life, but you do have a group. I’m very sorry for their deaths.” Oscar said to Glenn with some regret and sadness.
“Dig two more holes.” Glenn said to the two men as he looked at Hershel who appeared on the other side of the fence and handed them the shovel in his hand.
“Where’s Rick?” Glenn asked Hershel right away.
“Still inside.”
“I’ll go find him later.” Glenn said, looking at the two people digging a hole, and then said to Hershel, “One third of our people have gone in one day.”
“Because of a jerk.” Hershel responded to Glenn.
“Sometimes I think it would be better to just shoot all the prisoners at the beginning.”
Axel and Oscar seem like nice guys.
“When we first started evacuating, T drove the church car to the homes of every elderly person he knew to see if they needed help. He saved me many times. He was not a good person, he was the best person.” Glenn was immersed in memories of the past.
“He was bitten when he was closing the door. If he hadn’t closed the door…” Hershel hadn’t finished speaking.
“It’s likely that Maggie will be the one who gets hurt,” Glenn added.
Glenn entered the passage that Rick entered with a flashlight. The ground was littered with corpses chopped by axes. Why do I say corpses? Because none of the zombies on the ground were intact. Some had their heads chopped off by Rick, and some had their bodies chopped into pieces by axes.
After walking through a long passage, Rick was leaning against the wall at the end of the passage, breathing heavily, leaning on a bleeding axe.
“Rick.” Glenn called Rick softly and slowly approached him.
“Everyone is worried about you. You should leave here and go out.” Glenn gently persuaded Rick.
Rick turned around suddenly, and what kind of eyes were he looking at? His eyes were bloodshot, his brows were gathered together, and there was a kind of resentment and murderous intent in his eyes.
“Rick, you don’t have to bear all this by yourself, okay? We just need to lock the fence again. Rick, come out with me, okay?” Glenn slowly approached Rick with his hand.
As soon as Glenn’s hand touched Rick, Rick’s strong counterattack pinned him to the wall. Then he swung his hand violently, almost knocking Glenn off his feet.
Rick didn’t say anything after that and continued walking forward.
Led by Maggie, Duke came to a nursery. There was no one there and it looked like a lot of time had been wasted.
Maggie and Duke climbed in through the window, and the nursery was empty, with toys scattered all over the floor.
They found a lot of baby stuff in the cabinet of the nursery, such as pacifiers, milk powder, etc. And of course, diapers.
After collecting here, they began to explore the entire nursery.
They found some movement in the closet of a room at the end of the nursery, and they opened it cautiously.
It turned out to be a pet dog, Teddy. This little Teddy was only about half a year old, with black eyes that looked very human as he tilted his head to look at the two of them, without barking.
“It’s a very cute little guy. I wonder where his little owner has gone.” There was a lot of pet dog food left in the cupboard, no wonder the little Teddy has survived until now.
Duke picked up little Teddy and stroked its soft fur.
“Looks like you guys have a distraction,” Duke teased, looking at Maggie.
“It looks beautiful.” This is a female Teddy.
Duke also found cans of milk powder in the cabinet of this house, so it seems that little Sean doesn’t have to worry about milk powder anymore.
(Sweet Potato also has a Teddy Bear, and seeing the Teddy Bears around his feet, he couldn’t help but bring it in as well)
“Guys, they’re back.” Glenn looked at the lights of cars emerging from the woods in the distance and said to the people below.
It was like passing five levels. There were some zombies scattered under the fence. To prevent the zombies from rushing in, Glenn called Oscar downstairs to open the door while picking up his gun to clear the way for Duke and the others.
“Amy, how is he?” Duke and his friend heard the baby crying loudly as they came in. It seemed that he was hungry.
“Look, this little guy is so lucky. He slowly stopped crying as soon as he saw me coming.”
Rick finally arrived at the place where Laura died, but Laura’s body was no longer on the ground, only a pile of minced meat.
Her body was dragged away.
No, it was a zombie who dragged him away. Because the zombie had a big meal, his belly was so round that he leaned against the wall, unable to move. Seeing Rick slowly approaching him, he tried to grab Rick with his weak hands. It seemed that he must have been a starving ghost in his previous life.
Rick kicked the zombie’s hand away and stepped on the ground. He grabbed the zombie’s hand with one hand and leaned against the wall with the other hand. He put the gun into the zombie’s mouth and pried it open.
“Ah… bang…” Rick pushed hard into the zombie’s mouth and fired.
“Give me back my wife, give me back my wife.” Rick then took out a knife, madly cut open the zombie’s belly, and stabbed the zombie hard.
“Yes, sir… Yes, sir…” A shrill telephone ring sounded in the extremely quiet utility room.
It turned out that there was a working landline on the table in this utility room.
Rick slowly picked up the phone.
“Hello?”
“Hello, is anyone there?” a pleasant female voice came from the other end.
“I’m here, who are you?” Rick answered with some tears in his eyes.
“Oh my God, I didn’t expect anyone to answer the phone. We have been calling since the disaster happened.” The woman was very excited.
“Where are you?” Rick was very direct and he was not afraid of scaring people.
“I can’t say.” The woman calmed down instantly.
She calmed down but Rick couldn’t.
I can t tell you exactly where we are.
You guys, are you in a safe place?
“Yes. We’ve survived this far by being cautious, so we can’t tell you where we are, sorry.”
“Why is your place safe?” Rick was eager to know the reason.
“Because we are far away from them.” The woman said with certainty and relief.
“I have a son and a newborn baby. We’re a group of people together. If you’re willing, if you’re willing for us to join, we’ll do our best to help you.” Rick said half-choked and half-silently.
“I need to discuss this with the organization.” The woman hesitated.
“Let them come and talk to me, and I’ll talk to them.” Rick began to get a little uneasy.
“Let me talk to them first.” The woman refused Rick.
“Please, don’t hang up, please, we are good people, we need help.” Rick said anxiously into the phone with a tearful look on his face.
“We will help you.” The woman comforted him with obvious confidence.
“I’ll get back to you in two hours.”
“Please. You don’t understand, you don’t understand, we are going to die, we… are… about to… die.” Rick uttered the following words after listening to the phone call on the other end being hung up.
Chapter 32: Continue in Trance (Old Version)
“Is everyone okay?” Rick’s voice came from the iron gate of the second area.
“We’re fine.” A group of people were eating around the table and saw Rick slowly walking in.
“And you?”
“I cleaned up the utility room.” Rick looked at Carl who was eating.
How many zombies are there?
Not sure, maybe one dozen, maybe two dozen.
“I have to go back, I just came to see Carl.” Rick patted Carl’s shoulder.
After saying that, Rick hurried back to his utility room.
Rick went to the phone alone and waited for it to ring.
Just when I was getting impatient waiting, the phone rang.
“Hello, hello…” Rick answered the phone quickly.
“Are you the one who just talked to her on the phone?” a deep male voice came from the other end.
Do you want to come to our place?
“She said it’s safe here.”
“It is indeed safe. There are no zombie attacks, no one is bitten, no one is killed or injured, no one turns into a zombie, and no one goes crazy.”
“Yes, we want to come to your place.” Rick was tempted to hear this.
You may be dangerous. Have you ever killed anyone?
“I have killed them. They were all people who threatened me and my team.” Rick said honestly.
“How many people have you killed?” the man opposite asked again.
Two outsiders wanted to kill me, one of them pushed me to the zombies, and the other was once one of us, but he was lost.
What s lost?
“He lost himself. He threatened me and wanted to kill me.”
“How did you lose your wife?” the man asked, his question really hitting the nail on the head.
“How do you know I have a wife?” Rick asked solemnly.
“You have a son and a baby. Tell me how you lost your wife.”
“Oh, I don’t want to talk about this.” Rick said after a heavy sigh.
Hello… Hello…” The person on the other end hung up.
“No…” Rick jumped up excitedly and kicked the table hard.
Rick was walking around the utility room alone when Hershel came in through the door.
Can I sit down?
Rick said nothing and moved a chair for him.
“She was sorry for what happened before. She told me so herself. She was going to tell you, take it slow, you supported us, you kept us from giving up, you brought us here.” Hershel wanted to say something but was interrupted by Rick.
“Not enough. This place is not safe enough.”
“There’s no safe place, there’s no escape from this,” Hershel tried to persuade him.
“I got a call.” Rick told Hershel in surprise.
“What? Someone called?”
“Use this phone to answer it.” Rick Heschel handed over the phone that had just been used.
“One woman, they had a group of people, she said they found a safe place, they were making random phone calls, she said they would call back.”
Hershel listened to Rick’s words and took the phone to his ear in confusion.
“If it’s credible, I want to convince them to take us in.”
Hershel suddenly put down the phone and looked at Rick with limited surprise.
“Did she say where they lived?”
“No, it doesn’t matter. As long as it’s safe there, we’ll go there. Don’t tell anyone else yet.” Rick seemed very confident that he could handle the matter.
“I’ll sit here with you. I can only sit now anyway.”
No need.
“Okay.” Hershel shook his head and left.
Duke brought a group of people to some underground areas.
“That’s it. Missed it last night.” Oscar said to a locked door.
“There might be one or two zombies, be careful.” Duke said to Carl and Daryl.
“Ring…” Rick grabbed the phone before it rang a few times.
“Don’t you want to tell him how your wife died?” the female voice on the other side asked Rick.
“No, I just lost her, but I’ll tell you if I have to.”
It s good to speak out.
Rick looked at the zombie that was stabbed by her and was covered in pieces.
You should talk about this, Rick.
“That sounds… How, how do you know my name?” Rick was about to continue, but came back to his senses in horror.
“Ziz…Ziz…Ziz” There was a dead tone from the other end of the phone.
Rick was horrified.
Glenn and Maggie came to a small town outside the prison, where they were looking for some supplies, preferably food, ammunition or something.
They came to a grocery store.
“Glenn, pick up the duck.” Maggie said to Glenn with a smile while standing outside the store.
What? Are you kidding?
“A prison-born kid needs a toy,” Maggie continued with a laugh.
“Don’t you have Coke?” The Coke Glenn was talking about was the Teddy that Duke picked up last time. (Continue guest appearance)
That s different.
We just hit the milk powder jackpot.
“Thank God.” Maggie looked at Glenn, who was carrying a full shopping basket in each hand.
“I like the quietness here. This is different in prison. At home, you can always hear the noises they make outside the fence.” Maggie said to Glenn.
Then they were captured by the Governor’s men who suddenly appeared.
A black girl covered in blood came out from another corner. She stared at the group fiercely as they were taken away.
“This is what I’m looking for.” Oscar, who was walking at the end of the team, suddenly said to an empty cell and then walked in.
Then he found a pair of slippers from his cell.
“Bang, bang, bang.” Oscar, who had just come out, fired three shots behind him at his teammates who were looking at him.
It turned out that the sneaky zombies wanted to attack them from behind.
Daryl approached the zombie and seemed to have discovered something.
He slowly squatted down. It turned out that there was a dagger on the neck of the zombie. The dagger looked very familiar. Of course, the most familiar thing was the squatting person.
“This is Corolla’s knife.” Daryl pulled out the dagger and looked at it and said.
“Yes, sir… Yes, sir… Yes, sir…” Rick rarely answered the phone after it rang a few times.
“How do you know my name?” Rick asked solemnly as he answered the phone.
“Because we know you.” The female voice on the other side explained to Rick.
“How do you know me?”
“You know them too, Rick. The people you’re talking to today are Jim, Jason…” the female voice continued.
“Lola.” Rick said into the phone.
“Laura…”
“Laura… Laura… Laura…” Rick covered his face and cried.
“What’s up, Rick?”
“Baby, what’s wrong?” the other side continued to ask.
“I love you so much, I love you so much. I can’t hold on any longer.” Rick muttered to himself in pain on the phone.
“Zi…Zi…Zi” the phone kept ringing.
Rick spoke sweet words to his wife Laura on the phone, and then slowly hung up the phone.
