Hello my dear sewing friends,
voilà, there is my seventh bouclè jacket from Claire B. Shaeffer in a bright red. This time I actually had to count in my closet how many boucle jackets I now own using the couture technique. The Brave Little Tailor would say: There are 7 in one go! What’s incredible when you consider that according to the calculations of some amateur seamstresses, a boucle jacket using the couture technique takes about 80 hours. A little perseverance and, above all, an addiction to more bouclè jackets is probably part of it. Years ago I wished I had this boucle jacket in all the colors of the rainbow. With every boucle jacket I come a little closer to my goal. 😉 Now all that’s missing is green, yellow, turquoise, beige… There are endless colors I could imagine this jacket in. I just really can’t decide which color to sew next. Do you have a tip or idea? Since this jacket is so classic, it will probably stay with me throughout my life in fashion, whatever the color. I’m still constantly faced with the problem of finding a suitable border for my self-sewn jackets. If you have a good source, let me know. Thank God my mother is very good at crocheting and is therefore asked to make the right one for every bouclè jacket. Unfortunately, when it comes to crocheting, I have no talent at all and am so happy that she always actively supports me in my project.
I would still like to warmly recommend the book “The Couture Cardigan Jacket” by Claire B. Shaeffer to you. All the individual steps are explained there. I particularly like the CD that comes with the book, where the workmanship can be clearly seen. This helped me a lot. Have fun sewing this fantastic cut, like Coco Chanel couldn’t have done it better.
