An open window and suddenly plants, decorations or candles have to go. Benedikt Hartmann and Lukas Benkhoff want to solve exactly this everyday problem. In the season finale of “The Lions’ Den” they present their fresh air window sill. Your offer is 170,000 euros for ten percent.

Simple idea, big reach

The product is quickly explained: a mobile window sill that moves when the window is opened. No more clearing away, no more rearranging, instead everything stays in place. “We haven’t invented rocket science, but we have invented a real problem solver,” says Hartmann. What sounds simple apparently hits a nerve. Without a marketing budget, the founders achieved around 160,000 euros in sales within six months, primarily through viral reach on social networks. Both are still studying in Munich at the same time. Hartmann is studying mechanical engineering and Benkhoff is studying business administration.

Between enthusiasm and harsh criticism

The lions’ reactions vary. Frank Thelen is initially fascinated. “That’s why I love The Lion’s Den. That you see things you never thought possible,” he says. But then he becomes much more critical: “I think the design is bad. It worsens the insulation. You’re wasting your life.” Janna Ensthaler and Judith Williams are also leaving, despite seeing market potential. “I think there’s a huge market for it. But I have the feeling that you’ll quickly get bored with the product and quickly look for something else. That’s why I’m out,” says Williams.

Bidding duel between Maschmeyer and Dümmel

While three lions get out, an exchange of blows develops between Carsten Maschmeyer and Ralf Dümmel. Both offer 170,000 euros for 15 percent. Maschmeyer also scores points with an unusual promise to become an investor in other ideas in the future. Dümmel, on the other hand, relies on his trading strength and sales experience.

Founders play poker and win

The founders take advantage of the situation and take a risk: They make a counteroffer to Dümmel: 199,000 euros for 15 percent. Dümmel accepts the offer and the deal is concluded, even after the broadcast. Dümmel’s spokesman reveals to Gründerszene that the agreement was also implemented after the broadcast.
