+++ StartupsToWatch: Qdrant. The Berlin company, founded in 2021 by Andre Zayarni and Andrey Vasnetsov, is developing an open source vector search engine. “With Qdrant, embeddings or neural network encoders can be turned into full-fledged applications for matching, searching, recommending, and much more,” it says about the concept. Companies like Tripadvisor, HubSpot and Bosch already rely on Qdrant. Over the past few years, over $85 million has flowed into Qdrant. The emerging startup’s investors include AVP, Bosch Ventures, Unusual Ventures, Spark Capital and 42CAP. “With every infrastructure shift, we’ve seen purpose-built systems emerge and rapidly scale in fast-growing new markets, and we’re seeing this pattern again with Qdrant. As an AI-native vector search engine designed for the latency, throughput, and reliability demands of production AI workloads, they’re at the forefront of building the retrieval layer of the future that all advanced AI applications will depend on,” says Warda Shaheen from investor AVP. Top 100 Rising European Startups
+++ Up-and-coming startups! For the second time, the tech conference VivaTech, together with investors Accel, Eurazeo, HV Capital, Northzone and Partech, is selecting the “Top 100 Rising European Startups”. It says: “These companies from 12 countries have the potential to profoundly transform their industries and are characterized by their rapid growth.” 74% of the startups represented in the ranking come from Great Britain, France and Germany. This year, 23 companies from Germany are represented in the hit list. These are: Black Forest Labs, askJio, Langdock, n8n, Parloa, Synthflow, Holy, LAP Coffee, ARX Robotics, Helsing, Quantum Systems, Dash0, Reonic, Midas, Tactile, Voize, simpleclub, CarOnSale, NEURA Robotics, Arbio, Isar Aerospace, The Exploration Company and Makersite. Omio
+++ Around the world! The travel unicorn Omio is continuing to expand – and is investing in Japan. This means that the busy Grownup is now active in 47 countries. The Berliners are also planning further regional branches: “The Omio Group plans to be active in more than 70 markets by 2028.” Through Berlin-based Grownup, founded by Naren Shaam in 2013, users can compare and book train, bus and flight tickets.
