Smart Glasses: Samsung supposedly ready to launch soon – concept probably like Apple’s rumored plans | News

In view of numerous reports, it is certain in the industry that Apple has initially lost interest in new headsets such as the Vision Pro, but is working intensively on glasses with “visual intelligence” functions. The “Apple Glasses” in question could be ready for the market as early as next year, although they differ completely from the Vision Pro in more than just their design. Displays should not be used; instead, sensors record the environment and prepare information for the user.

Galaxy Glasses – Features like Apple’s alleged glasses plans
The Seoul Economic Daily now says that Samsung is planning a very similar product and will present it in just a few weeks. At the “Galaxy Unpacked” event on July 22nd, the company not only wants to show the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Flip8 smartphones, but also new smart glasses. The product is being created in collaboration with Gentle Monster, is equipped with the Android XR operating system and houses cameras and microphones in the glasses frame. In all likelihood, similar to the rumored Apple Glasses, these sensors will only be used to collect information in the user’s vicinity. An integrated display is not included; communication takes place either by voice or via display on the connected smartphone.

AR through overlay fades into the background
Samsung had previously expressly emphasized that its own XR strategy does not end with headsets, but also includes AI glasses. The product category of such glasses is not new and is strongly reminiscent of the Ray-Ban Meta. Samsung should adopt their recipe, but translate it into its own ecosystem: Gemini instead of Meta AI and Galaxy smartphones instead of Meta app as the central control point. However, AR for displaying information seems to be losing some of its importance in the industry at the moment, because the technical requirements for such compact systems are enormous.
