The PDF, dated January 2026, contains 262 pages, of which 239 make up the actual content. The rest is filled with a table of contents, a glossary and a list of changes. A total of six chapters on the following topics have been added to the revised version:
- Automatic unlocking of Apple devices (p. 64)
- Satellite communication in an emergency (p. 82)
- Quantum-safe encryption (p. 87)
- Single Sign-On (SSO) (p. 209)
- Secure communication via attestation (p. 230)
- EnergyKit (p. 214)
Change: BSI instead of RSR
The section on “Rapid Security Responses” has been replaced by a paragraph on “Background Security Improvements”, which in particularly urgent cases can be used to deploy updates for Safari from Apple, for example, without users having to give their consent (or finding out about it afterwards).
EnergyKit: Helper for efficient energy use
The short section Bei EnergyKit It is a framework introduced with the 26 update series, which is intended to optimize electricity consumption for renewable energies: energy-intensive calculations are postponed to periods when a particularly large amount of solar and wind energy is likely to be available. For this purpose, Apple has integrated a function called “Grid Forecast” into the Home app – it is currently only available in the US mainland.
Not in German yet – but soon?
If you access the Apple Platform Security website in Germany, you will be redirected to the German-language version. This is still current as of December 2024. Apple will probably revise the portal in the next few weeks and also translate the PDF into German – the previous version was also available in German.
