Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8: What an insider says about the changes and the price level

The Galaxy Unpacked date in July, which has already been leaked, will most likely bring three new foldables in particular. In addition to the successors to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 (available here on Amazon), everything will revolve around the new third one in the group, which is apparently planned as a direct competitor to the first Apple foldable in September – iPhone Ultra or whatever the foldable iPhone is ultimately called.

The expectations for Samsung’s 2026 folding phone are already quite low, especially since render images based on CAD models have already shown a strong similarity to its predecessor. At that time there was talk of a slightly thinner design, although with foldables it’s always a matter of dimensions. The well-known South Korean blogger Landsk has recently summarized what will actually change in the Galaxy Z Flip 8 – apart from a new processor, possibly the Exynos 2600 – based on information from an insider from the supply chain.

The list is quite short and concise. So we’re talking about a minimal change in the height of the case as well as a new hinge design that makes the thickness 0.5 mm thinner when folded. A “crease-free display design” could actually be noticeable, which will probably be used not only in Samsung’s big foldables of the year but also in the Galaxy Z Flip 8. Last but not least, the weight is stated at 180 to 188 grams, no or hardly any change compared to the predecessor.

The list of specs that have not changed is almost longer. For example, the battery capacity and charging speed, which will still be limited to 25W. The camera module should also be exactly the same as the Galaxy Z Flip7, and this should even apply to smaller components such as speakers or the vibration motor. Nevertheless, Samsung is probably planning a “slight price increase” (for Korea) – whether this will also be reflected in Europe remains to be seen.
