Another indication of a development pause or stop
Reports of a pause in development are not new, as it was said a few months ago that Apple was not sticking to its original plans. Later reports even suggested that a cheaper headset had been removed from the roadmap entirely – in favor of AR glasses, in which John Ternus sees a much more promising future. If the Samsung display in question no longer has any significance, it is even more likely that there will be a complete change in strategy in the headset area. Of course, Apple itself didn’t comment on the topic, as there are generally few comments on unreleased hardware.
AR glasses are the new focus
At the beginning of June, Ming-Chi Kuo spoke about his findings and stated that Ternus had postponed planning from “maybe in 2-3 years” to “not at all”. Minimal adjustments to the existing Vision Pro are conceivable, but Apple does not want to invest any energy in a new generation or an additional version. Instead, as mentioned, we are working hard on AR glasses – ideally, the first version designed as an iPhone accessory will appear in just over a year.
