On all browsers and systems
The new WebPush works with all common browsers/operating systems and is no longer limited to Safari. If you have not subscribed to push notifications, you will see an information area with a red background directly on the main page. You can use this to either register for push notifications (which requires additional confirmation in the browser) or to opt-out using the “No, thanks!” button. deactivate.
System settings: Allow notifications
Important: In the system settings under “Notifications” the browser must of course be allowed to send notifications – otherwise no display is possible. There would then be no error message; in this case the notifications would simply not arrive. We deactivated the previous system as part of the changeover, which is why a new activation is required. We will inform all users separately about this via a “final push message” via the previous system.
mTechNews app or via browser
There are no changes on iPhone/iPad and the mTechNews app, everything works as before. However, in order to activate WebPush on mobile devices, Apple has come up with a rather complicated solution. To do this, open MacTechNews, click on the three-dot menu next to the address field, then click “Share”, then click “Show more”, and in the last step click “Add to home screen”. This is the only way you will receive the notifications that the app can send directly if notifications are activated.

This has nothing to do with push notifications, but with a different way of making MTN content discoverable: Google now makes it possible to name favorite sites that appear preferred in the results.
