Pentecost in Italy – Jeanny’s Blog

Forte dei Marmi is one of the most exclusive seaside resorts in Italy, known for its long sandy beaches, elegant villas, designer boutiques and the spectacular backdrop between the sea and marble mountains.

Forte dei Marmi

Forte dei Marmi

We have always been here during the Pentecost holidays for 4 years. There is already a detailed blog post about Forte dei Marmi here, so today I’ll just show you my highlights in pictures.

Forte dei Marmi is in Tuscany, so there are wonderful excursion destinations from here that we have already visited several times. Our most beautiful excursion destinations were as follows:

  1. Pietrasanta, 10 minutes from Forte, often called the little Florence of Versilia. The old town is full of galleries, sculptures and romantic squares. Particularly beautiful in the evening. A nice change from sand and sea.
  2. Carrara and the marble quarries, Carrara is about 20-30 minutes away. This is where the world-famous Carrara marble, which Michelangelo used, comes from. The huge quarries look like a lunar landscape and offer great photo opportunities.
  3. Lucca is perfect for a day trip and is about an hour’s drive from Forte. The completely preserved city wall can be walked or cycled around. Be sure to eat in one of the restaurants on the large piazza. Winding streets, historic squares and typical Tuscan flair make the city a highlight.
  4. Cinque Terre can be reached by car in approximately 1.5 hours. The colorful villages on the cliffs are among the most famous coastal landscapes in Italy and offer fantastic photo spots.
  5. Viareggio offers a lively seafront promenade, restaurants and a little more hustle and bustle than Forte dei Marmi. Ideal for an evening of aperitivo and Italian nightlife. Viareggio is approximately 20-30 minutes away.

What can you do in Forte dei Marmi?

We are at the sea every day! Here you can try out a different beach every day. Where we can often be found: Alpemare, Andrea Bocelli’s beach club.

You shouldn’t miss the famous weekly market, which takes place every Wednesday and Sunday around the central Piazza Marconi and the historic fort. There you will find fashion, leather goods, shoes, household goods, regional specialties and jewelry.

Forte dei Marmi is extremely bike friendly. Leave your car behind and explore, for example, the exclusive Roma Imperiale district with its pine trees, luxurious villas and quiet streets.

To the Pontile at sunset

The town’s landmark is the long bridge of the Ponte di Forte di Marmi. It is most beautiful here at sunset! The view of the Ligurian Sea or the Alps in the background is fantastic.

I think my pictures speak for themselves. The perfect place for a relaxing beach holiday for the whole family.
