There are places that seem like a little magic. As soon as you arrive, you breathe deeper, smile more often – and notice how the stress is quietly slipping away.
For me, Tegernsee is just such a place. Nestled between gentle Alpine slopes, with its crystal clear water that shimmers in all shades of blue and green, it is a real jewel in Bavaria. And that’s exactly where I treated myself to a weekend of pampering that felt like a hug for the soul.
Hotel crossing
We stayed at the five-star Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt. Waking up in the morning and looking straight out of bed at the mirror-smooth water, while the mountains in the background are slowly being kissed awake by the sunlight – that’s not a vacation, that’s magic.

Five star Althoff Seehotel
The elegant Nature Resort is just a 45-minute drive from Munich in Rottach-Egern. What awaits you here? A total of 176 rooms and suites. Arrive and feel good. The rooms are designed with natural materials and colors – a stylistic homage to the region. Our suite had large picture windows and expansive balconies with lake views.
Breakfast
The enjoyment begins with breakfast! Look forward to an Alpine breakfast buffet with the best delicacies from the region. Homemade bread, dairy products and cheese from local farms, sausages straight from the butcher, fresh fruit and vegetables and a juice bar with freshly squeezed smoothies daily. Freshly prepared egg dishes, pancakes and waffles round off the large breakfast offering. For me, with gluten intolerance, there was a large selection of gluten-free breads and cakes. The great breakfast is included with every booking.

Culinary delights in the hotel
One man, three restaurants
As kitchen director of the Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt on Tegernsee, the experienced chef and trained master chef Walter Leufen uses all the experience he has gained around the globe. Since 2008, the crossing’s three different themed restaurants have been the kitchen director’s culinary stage: the Bayernstube with hearty Bavarian delicacies, the Italian restaurant Il Barcaiolo and its “Cucina Casalinga”, which has been awarded 16 Gault&Millau points, and the Egener Bucht restaurant with the culinary diversity of the Alpine region.
Lobby Bar – Sit back and enjoy
In the stylish lobby and the adjoining bar there are fresh cakes from the in-house patisserie, selected coffee and tea specialties, sparkling champagne, unusual cocktail creations and much more. There is live, relaxed piano music from Wednesdays to Sundays.

All Balance Spa
After a wonderful partner massage, we relaxed with a cup of tea in the spacious and stylish relaxation room. You can work out in the fitness room with the latest fitness equipment from Technogym, or with Pilates and yoga.
Shopping in Rottach Egern
There is a great boutique just a few minutes walk from the hotel! I always find what I’m looking for here, this time it was ballerinas from Gucci. In the Michael Meyer Store you will find high-end labels, modern luxury, stylish fashion & accessories for men and women. www.michael-meyer.de
Shopping at Tegernsee
My looks at Tegernsee
I adapted my looks to the elegant ambience of the hotel. My swim look is from Krines in Munich. An elegant swimsuit in beige in combination with a cardigan in gold/beige with a zigzag print. Plus comfortable sandals from Simone Herrera.
For the evening I chose a suitcase dress from Krines in pink with a gradient color. With the sunset atmosphere on the jetty in front of the hotel, it was a perfect match. mykrines.com

Jeanny’s scent tip
I had this new scent with me on my pampering weekend at Tegernsee because it goes so well with spring, when everything is blooming and smells floral.
It’s not just the bottle that’s beautiful. The new edP from Parfum de Marly – Palatine.
My scent tip: Palatine
This powerful and sophisticated fragrance revolves around a modern floral bouquet enhanced by fresh, fruity and powdery notes. An opening of mandarin, bergamot and pear leads to a bold, contemporary violet leaf. The overall scent is based on musk and creamy sandalwood for a velvety feel.
(100 ml edP approx. 270 EURO via niche-beauty.com or in Munich: Parfumerie Brückner)
What else can you do at Tegernsee besides shopping and strolling around the lake?
For active people: hike to the Tegernseer Hütte (1650 m)
This tour is a classic! The climb may be sporty, but you will be rewarded with an incredible panorama – and a rustic hut between two peaks. Perfect for anyone who longs for exercise and mountain love.
A weekend at Tegernsee is more than just a short trip – it’s like a fresh start for body, mind and heart. Whether you let yourself be pampered in a luxury hotel, hike through the mountains or just sit on the lakeshore with a cappuccino and let your thoughts drift – everyone can find their own personal time out here.
In June you will get tips from me about the Amalfi Coast.
dearest greetings
