Oscars: An Academy Award for Apple’s “F1 – The Movie” | News

The Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, represent the highlight and conclusion of the winter awards season. The gala for the 98th “Awards of Merit” ceremony of the US Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science took place on the night of Sunday to Monday; it is broadcast live on television in many countries. With “F1 – The Movie”, Apple was able to gain hope in four categories: Best Film, Best Editing, Best Sound and Best Visual Effects. In the end, at least one went to the Apple TV production: F1 – the film received the Oscar for best sound for films from 2025.

Another Apple TV production, The Lost Bus, was nominated for visual effects. However, they were trumped by the James Cameron production “Avatar: Fire and Ash”. In the other two categories, Apple lost to the absolute favorite of this year’s Academy Awards: “One Battle After Another” received a total of six awards, including best film and best performance in editing. The Apple TV production Come See Me in the Good Light was also a contender for an Oscar as best documentary – “Mr. Nobody against Putin” won here.

Three “Actor Awards” for “The Studio”
The “Actor Awards” are presented by the influential Hollywood union SAG-AFTRA; their gala took place on March 1st. Apple productions have been nominated several times here; In the end, only one Apple series was able to win the actual prize – but three times: Both Seth Rogen and Catherine O’Hara were recognized for their performance in The Studio, as well as the entire ensemble as best performance in a comedy format. Unfortunately, O’Hara was not able to witness this triumph – she died on January 30, 2026.

Best music video (according to ADG)
The “Art Directors’ Guild” (ADG) had already chosen its winners on February 28th – for the 30th time. Apple was able to win here several times. The debut season of Palm Royale is the best “one hour period single-camera series” for ADG, while Severance is the favorite among the “one hour contemporary single-camera series”. “Pluribus” and “Slow Horses” were also among the nominees. “The Studio” won the “Half Hour Single-Camera Series” against, among others, “Murderbot”. In the “short format & music videos” category, the ADG honored the short film “Someday” by Spike Jonze – the production with elaborate stage design and sophisticated choreography is (almost incidentally) an advertising clip for AirPods 4G with active noise cancellation.
