Codex controls apps on Mac
The updated version of Codex drops some limitations: The AI tool is now able to access the apps installed on the Mac in the background. Codex has its own cursor to act independently. The software remembers which routines are used and then implements them automatically. Several agents can be run in parallel, for example to test apps and make front-end adjustments. After breaks, the AI continues work and plans future tasks on its own – over days or weeks if desired. In order to provide the agent with more precise instructions, there is a dedicated internet browser on board. Thanks to gpt-image-1.5, Codex can also generate images to create designs, mockups or concepts, for example.
Codex analyzes user behavior and provides support for future projects
OpenAI also announces 90 new plugins. This should enable the assistant to capture even more context and carry out certain actions involving multiple apps. Thanks to a new memory function, Codex remembers previous work and the corrections made to it in order to provide support at a later point in time. The software also proactively comes up with appropriate tasks. Codex can be downloaded from the official website. An Intel Mac is sufficient, but OpenAI recommends a computer with Apple Silicon and at least 16 gigabytes of RAM.
