In One Piece episode #1162, “A Gargantuan Wave of Emotion – The Dreamlike Scenery of Elbaph”, Luffy returned to the bridge after speaking with Loki, where he ran into Gerd and Goldberg. Gerd and Goldberg quickly explained that they were fellow members of Hajrudin’s New Giant Warrior Pirates and were looking to punish Rodo for kidnapping Luffy and his friends, so Luffy stuck with them, all while hiding that he had agreed to free Loki in exchange for information about Shanks.
Meanwhile, Rodo had chased the rest of Luffy’s group into the Sun World, the second layer of Elbaph, but they had set a trap for Rodo, with Nami and Chopper as bait, so Zoro and Sanji could knock a tree on top of him. Immediately after, Luffy, Gerd, and Goldberg caught up with them, and after Gerd and Goldberg beat Rodo up some more, Gerd pointed them toward their village, and Usopp, Luffy, and Chopper immediately ran off to see it.
It Took 27 Years, But One Piece’s Anime Has Finally Fixed Its Biggest Problem
One Piece’s abysmal pacing has always made the anime hard to watch, but after so many years, it looks like the anime might be fixing things.
Usopp led Luffy and Chopper across a field of island clouds until they could finally gaze upon Elbaph’s village, and Usopp was brought to tears as he realized he had finally achieved his dream of going to Elbaph. Soon after, the rest of the crew appeared with the Giant Warrior Pirates while riding atop a rainbow, and Luffy’s group once again reiterated that Elbaph was amazing. Amidst all of that, though, a mysterious figure was shown walking through a forest, and narration from the explorer Louis Arnot ominously warned them not to stay on Elbaph for too long.
One Piece Finally Kicks Off The Elbaph Arc On A High Note

With the Land of Gods mini-arc finally over, One Piece has finally started the Elbaph arc in earnest, and it was great to see. Not only were the visuals as gorgeous as ever, courtesy of veteran One Piece director Katsumi Tokoro, but the simple fact that the series has finally gotten to Elbaph after over 20 years was great in and of itself, especially with how much effort went into the reveal. In that moment, Usopp, crying at the sight of Elbaph, was a stand-in for all longtime One Piece fans, and it was nothing short of amazing.
