Needs change – and a floor plan should definitely grow with them. One of the most important aspects of home planning is the ability to adapt to different phases of life. What seems perfect today may no longer suit your own living conditions in ten or twenty years. That’s exactly why we paid attention early on to designing rooms flexibly and considering possible uses. A good example of this is this Office on the ground floor: In times of increasing home office proportions, such a room is almost indispensable. At the same time, it should be planned in such a way that it can later be used as a bedroom without much effort – be it in old age, in case of illness or for guests. Barrier-free living doesn’t just start with ramps and wide doors, but rather in the floor plan. At the same time, an office is no longer a temporary solution, but an integral part of living. Home office has become a permanent fixture for many, whether a few days a week or completely. It is all the more important to give this area the space and importance it deserves. Because hand on heart: Nobody wants to work long-term in the hallway, in a dark niche, in the living room or in a connecting room. Effective work requires peace, daylight and a clear structure. A workplace that “runs along somewhere” will not meet these requirements in the long term and will eventually have a negative impact on concentration and well-being. That’s why an office in the house not only needs space, but also authorization. A spacious, independent study with natural light is not a luxury, but a real investment in productivity, mental health and long-term quality of life. Anyone who works several hours a day spends a significant part of their life here – often even more time than in the living room. This is precisely why well thought-out and future-proof planning is so crucial.
This idea becomes even clearer when you look at the specific furnishings of our ground floor office. Because a flexible room not only depends on its size, but above all on its well-thought-out furnishings. We consciously chose high-quality, timeless and functional furniture that can be used both in everyday work and when repurposed later. The storage space offers a lot of flexibility – and there is plenty of it. The tailor-made USM Haller shelves not only fit in perfectly aesthetically, but also offer enormous space for folders, technology, documents or personal items. For creative phases or short meetings, we have integrated a comfortable sofa – a place that deliberately offers some distance from the classic desk. This is where ideas arise, this is where people brainstorm, this is where you can switch off or have a brief change of perspective. The heart of the office, however, is the large worktop, which can easily accommodate up to three full-sized workstations and, in addition to monitors and drawers for laptops and computers, also offers space for beautiful lamps such as the classic from Kaiser Idell or accessories from Lyngby or Diptyque. The Kartell Masters chair creates an elegant contrast with its matt black color and is therefore a visual highlight. This means that the room can not only be used alone, but also, if necessary, for joint projects, temporary team situations or family members working in parallel.
