Munich tips: Our favorite restaurants in 2026

After an incredible amount has happened in the Munich gastronomic scene in recent years, it is high time for a new edition with our very personal restaurant favorites in Munich.

In the following list you will find our current favorite restaurants in the city center, where we have spent many wonderful hours. Good to know: Since we eat a vegetarian diet, all of them are wonderfully suitable for vegetarians and vegans, but in most of them you can also get meat and fish.

PS: As you know, we have dedicated a separate article to our favorite breakfast cafés, which we update regularly.

Our favorite restaurants in Munich

Maison Tran, Ehrengutstrasse 27

At Maison Tran on Roecklplatz there is not only fantastic Vietnamese cuisine, you can also share many delicacies family style thanks to the tapas concept. If you would rather have a single, larger dish all to yourself, you will also find what you are looking for on the large menu.

Giorgia Trattoria, Weissenburger Straße 2

The most extraordinary interior in the Munich gastronomic scene meets excellent Italian cuisine in the Giorgia Trattoria. If you like truffles, then you will love the truffle pasta with homemade Mafaldine pasta!

Fink’s South Tyrolean dumpling kitchen, Klenzestraße 40

A culinary journey to our beloved South Tyrol that we always enjoy doing together with my parents. Every time we visit Munich, we have dinner at my dad’s favorite restaurant. There are many different variants on the menu and you can mix them up. Accompanied by delicious South Tyrolean wines. And for dessert? Of course there are sweet dumplings!

NENI Munich, Bahnhofsplatz 1

There are now thirteen restaurants from the Viennese family business across Europe, and whether in the Austrian capital or on Mallorca: NENI is always a good idea! Israeli classics meet Mediterranean influences and dishes are shared Balangan style. The Munich restaurant in the 25hours Hotel The Royal Bavarian not only impresses with the great NENI cuisine, but also with a very relaxed atmosphere.

Brasserie Colette, Klenzestrasse 72

If you want upscale French cuisine, then you should definitely take a closer look at the Brasserie Colette. Every month there is a special 5-course monthly menu, and sometimes it can also be vegan. And the dishes are at least as extraordinary as the meat variants.

Levante Glockenbach, Klenzestrasse 62

Only opened last year and has already become one of our favorites in the Glockenbachviertel: the Levante Restaurant, which we already know from Schwabing and which has been serving oriental-Mediterranean dishes in our favorite district since last summer. Our favorites: the artichoke and avocado duet and Patlican – an eggplant stuffed with vegetables in tomato sauce.

Cooperativa, Jahnstrasse 35

A relaxed atmosphere combined with delicious, creative dishes with a Mediterranean touch at very fair prices for Munich standards awaits you in the neighborhood restaurant in the Glockenbachviertel.

Marie-Therese Gasthaus, Pettenkoferstraße 48

A traditional Bavarian inn – interpreted in a modern way? That’s exactly what we love! Alpine dishes with a seasonal twist are being creatively rethought directly at Theresienwiese. There are always vegetarian options on the menu. For example, beetroot carpaccio with goat’s cream cheese foam and caraway or celery with hazelnuts and vegan onion jus. To accompany the snack board (or the delicious runner bean hummus – yummy!) there is the fantastic Julius Brantner bread.

The Spice Bazaar, Marstallplatz 3

Admittedly, the prices here are a little more expensive than in most other restaurants in the already expensive Munich. But: The selection at The Spice Bazaar is phenomenal and the food is terrific! Oriental flavors meet Mediterranean… and my mouth is watering just thinking about the grilled cauliflower…

JACCI Asian Kitchen, Ysenburgstr. 13

Since the sister restaurant Maison Tran moved into our neighborhood, we have honestly been to the JACCI in Neuhausen less often than before. But the upscale Vietnamese restaurant with a beautiful interior and fantastic cuisine is still an absolute recommendation.

SUPERNOVA Bar & Trattoria, Türkenstraße 83

One of the most beautiful restaurants in Munich shouldn’t be missing from this list, because not only is the location a dream, but also the homemade pasta. And the Pinsa Romana… and the tiramisu. By the way: You can also have an excellent brunch at Supernova. More about it here!

The Maria, Klenzestrasse 97

One of my favorite restaurants from the Glockenbachviertel can be classified in the “All Day” category. At “Das Maria” a culinary journey to the Orient awaits you from morning to evening with lots of sweet and salty delicacies. A special treat: you can order breakfast until 6 p.m.!

Akimy, Corneliusstrasse 1

Can you believe there isn’t a “real” duck in the picture? The cuisine at Akimy is completely vegan and the crispy vegan duck, the udon curry and the vegan mango chicken are just a small part of the diverse menu.

Soul Kitchen, Fraunhoferstr. 27A

You can feast on fantastic, creative Neapolitan-style pizza creations at Soul Kitchen in Munich’s Glockenbachviertel. Including many vegetarian and vegan options.

May Restaurant, Bergmannstraße 50

And another Vietnamese restaurant that cannot be missing from this list. The May Restaurant opened in Westend around three years ago and has been delighting visitors since then not only with fantastic cuisine, but also with good drinks, which you can enjoy either on the beautiful terrace under colorful lanterns or in the indoor area with numerous waving cats (“May mắn” means luck in Vietnamese and the waving cat is a symbol of this).
