MONTREAL, Canada – The Moroccan National Tourism Office (MNTO) celebrated the upcoming launch of Air Transat’s new non-stop service between Montreal (YUL) and Agadir (AGA) during a special event held at Montreal’s iconic Vieux-Port. The inaugural flight is scheduled to depart on June 12, marking a significant milestone in Morocco’s tourism and aviation strategy.
Representatives from the MNTO and Air Transat were joined by tourism officials and hoteliers from Agadir, Canadian tour operators, travel advisors, media representatives, and government officials to commemorate the launch of what will become the first-ever non-stop flight between Montreal and Agadir—and the first direct air connection between North America and Morocco’s popular Atlantic coast destination.
The evening was attended by Her Excellency Souriya Otmani, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Canada, alongside representatives from Global Affairs Canada and the Forum of Federations.

Bringing Morocco Closer to Canada
Inspired by the spirit of Agadir, guests experienced an immersive Moroccan-themed evening featuring traditional hospitality, including argan oil hand massages, tastings of amlou, fresh juices, and artisanal ice cream flavored with ingredients such as argan oil, dates, orange blossom, and verbena.
The weekly Friday service will provide Canadian travelers with direct access to one of Morocco’s fastest-growing tourism destinations. Known for its year-round sunshine, expansive beaches, world-class surfing, and modern resort infrastructure, Agadir offers a different side of Morocco from the bustling imperial cities that have traditionally attracted North American visitors.
The new route complements Air Transat’s existing year-round Montreal–Marrakech service and strengthens Morocco’s growing network of direct air links with Canada. Royal Air Maroc currently operates direct flights from Montreal and Toronto to Casablanca, giving Canadian travelers multiple gateways into the Kingdom.

Morocco’s Tourism Boom Drives New Air Services
The launch comes amid record growth in Canadian arrivals to Morocco. The country welcomed 258,304 Canadian visitors in 2025, representing a 29 percent increase over 2024. Momentum has continued into 2026, with 75,839 Canadian arrivals recorded through April, an increase of 8 percent compared with the same period last year.
The new Agadir service also reflects Morocco’s broader strategy of expanding international connectivity as the country prepares for continued tourism growth and major international events, including co-hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
