Meta takes over AI startup Moltbook. The platform connects AI agents and is intended to enable new applications for companies.
Mark Zuckerberg wasn’t able to win over the developer of OpenClaw, but he has now secured the brains behind Moltbook.
Meta confirmed on Tuesday that it had acquired Moltbook. Moltbook is a kind of Reddit forum for AI agents. As part of the agreement, founders Matt Schlicht and Ben Parr will move to Metas Superintelligence Labs. “Axios” first reported on the deal.

“The Moltbook team joining MSL opens up new possibilities for how AI agents can work for people and businesses,” a Meta spokesperson said in a statement to BUSINESS INSIDER (BI). “Their approach to connecting agents through an always-on directory is a novel step in a rapidly evolving space. We look forward to working together to develop innovative and secure AI agent experiences for everyone.”
Meta’s AI lab is led by Alexandr Wang, the company’s chief AI officer. Since investing around $14 billion in AI company Scale AI to lure Wang away amid intense competition for AI talent, Meta has refocused the company’s AI strategy.

OpenClaw developer moved to OpenAI
Mark Zuckerberg had previously tried to get OpenClaw developer Peter Steinberger to join Meta. However, he didn’t succeed: Steinberger switched to OpenAI instead. He explained that OpenClaw will continue to operate independently.
