VALLETTA, Malta – VisitMalta has been named the recipient of the Navigator Magazine Excellence Award for Destination, recognizing Malta’s continued strength as one of the Mediterranean’s leading hubs for the superyacht sector.
The award was presented by Daniel Wade, Global Head of Partnerships and Chief Content Officer, during Seatrade Cruise Global 2026, held April 13–16. The presentation took place at the VisitMalta stand, highlighting the destination’s growing prominence within the global cruise and yachting industries.
Accepting the award on behalf of VisitMalta were Arthur Grima, Director of Marketing, and Michelle Buttigieg, Representative for North America.
Presented by Navigator, the publication of global yacht brokerage firm Northrop & Johnson, the award celebrates Malta’s unique combination of world-class maritime infrastructure and exceptional destination appeal. From the historic streets of Valletta to its vibrant culture, standout gastronomy, and year-round accessibility, Malta continues to offer a compelling experience both on and off the water.

Buttigieg highlighted the destination’s growing recognition in the US market. “There was a time when many Americans weren’t even sure where Malta was,” she noted. “Today, that has completely changed—American travelers have truly discovered Malta, drawn by its rich history, culture, and unique Mediterranean appeal, as well as the increasing presence of mega yachts and cruise ships calling in Valletta.”
