iPhone 17 Pro (Max): Some users report noise while charging | News

It’s not uncommon for reports of certain flaws and vulnerabilities in the devices to surface shortly after a new iPhone is released. Given the fact that it is a mass-produced product, there are of course a certain number of defective copies. After the launch of the iPhone 17 Pro, visitors to the Apple Store reported scratched backs of the devices on display in the stores. The media reporting put Cupertino under pressure, so the company commented a little later – and pointed to worn MagSafe stands, which would form residues on the housing (see here). In fact, more and more owners of the current series are now addressing another annoyance: it’s about noise from the Pro models.

iPhone 17 Pro (Max) on the charging cable sometimes makes annoying noises
Some iPhone 17 Pro (Max) owners are citing a problem with the device that occurs while charging. The lower speaker emits noise that sounds like a gentle hissing, humming, or hissing sound. Those affected describe the phenomenon as similar to the noises that an old radio makes. Some users say that they only notice the noise when audio content is played at reduced volume or with no sound at all. In fact, in some cases a crackling sound can be heard when users simply scroll through websites. If the iPhone is not charging, only a few users report such noises. The problem is probably not due to a defective charger, especially since some of those affected have checked this and the cable for a defect and tried other chargers. However, the noise still occurs – even when charging via MagSafe.

Hardly a satisfactory solution so far
Some owners of the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max received a new device after the complaint, but this does not solve the problem in all cases. One of those affected on Reddit was assured by Apple Support that engineers are now looking into the matter. However, there has been no solution so far: The software updates released so far have not made any changes to these noises.
