Bug fixes expected
The most common complaints regarding iOS and macOS 26.4 included performance issues in the Mail app and CloudKit errors when syncing iCloud photo libraries. Push messages also sometimes did not work as desired (see article).
Uninformative update description
Unfortunately, in the update description for iOS 26.4.1 and iPadOS 26.4.1, Apple only speaks very vaguely about bug fixes without specifically mentioning what they are. Unfortunately, this has been common practice at Apple for many years, not specifically naming the problems that have been resolved, but only documenting security-relevant aspects a few hours to days later.
No macOS, watchOS, tvOS or visionOS yet
This evening the company only released updates for iOS and iPadOS – but not for macOS, watchOS, tvOS or visionOS. It is still unclear whether Apple is also planning an update to 26.4.1 or whether it will limit the bug fixes to iOS and iPadOS.
Download and install
As always, the easiest way to update is to simply use the appropriate function in the system settings. As always, the usual note: If the update is not visible, a little patience is simply required – not all update servers receive the new version at the same time. If you want to be on the safe side, you should wait a day before installing updates – usually major defects will have been discovered by then.
